A. (almas) | 232 comments I'm not a fan of realistic paintings for today's cameras do a very good job...yet Maleki broke my believes!

I used to see his drawings on the net and never new the artist's name. I found his site on December 2009.

Maliki's official site

This painting is named Omens of Hafez (2003)
Oil on Canvas - 134 x 100 cm

Heather | 8548 comments Reem, I just looked up your work...Incredible. From what I see, you use many different mediums. Why don't you display your pieces in Talent of the Members so everyone can enjoy them! Just a thought :)

A. (almas) | 232 comments Heather, notice the hand?

message 21: by A. (new)

A. (almas) | 232 comments It's amazing how he captured the jeans fabric texture!!!

message 22: by Heather (new)

Heather | 8548 comments I did notice that, in fact I was showing my mom this artist and she really appreciated him, too. We probably looked at this particular one for at least 10 minutes, noticing the intricate detail (I have to say, I didn't notice the fabric texture). I was also amazed by her feet, how it shows the veins and everything. What DETAIL! You're right, it's almost like a picture! And the hand of the other lady, having the ring kind of falling to the side of her finger as a lot of rings do, it's not just right in the middle. Amazing! In fact, I think Iman Maleki is becoming one of my favorites also.

Heather | 8548 comments I am also amazed at another of his paintings, The Girl by the Window. When zooming in it, one can even see every strand of hair and how the light plays on it!

message 24: by A. (new)

A. (almas) | 232 comments I know! the hair is another impressive element in his painting.

Also, notice the color of her shirt. If you take a picture of this girl you'll see a bright white shirt in the photo, but in this drawing you can tell that the shirt is old, washed and wore several times. No camera can catch that!!!

message 25: by Jim (new)

Jim | 147 comments I like how the bracelet on the left wrist is positioned so naturally

I don't think cameras always see the essence of a person/scene the way the painter/sculptor etc can capture the essence of the subject

You're right Jim...that what cameras lack...the ability to catch the essence!

I just came from my deviantart page and couldn't find my work for some reason....I'm sure it's my mistake. I haven't been there for a while, so maybe they moved my post :(...just wanted to let you know

message 28: by jillian (new)

jillian Woods (jilliankatewoods) | 15 comments I LOVE this artist! Thanks so much for sharing, Amal! I think I've seen some of his stuff before, and you just put a name to the face! :)

message 29: by Robin (new)

Robin (goodreadscomtriviagoddessl) All of the paintings do trick your eyes into believing that they are photographs. Such great talent. I like the girl by the window, her hair looks lustrous.
