It's the reading addiction. It controls me. One day you'll see me on Intervention on A&E blathering about how much I need my books. Librarians, family, Jon the editor, Lisa...they will probably all be there reading me letters. Well, with Lisa there, it might be an "extra-special-two-for-one-episode." :)
{{{Are you saying I have a problem? Not me!}}} Well, maybe just a little one. My episode will also include a visit from the show Hoarders. I haven't been buried in my books yet, but there's always the possibility.
you guys crack me up :) I totally understand! My husband thinks I have a problem... Finding GRs too has just fueled this addiction like crazy!
I have got to get my books organized. They're stacked on the floor(s)because there's no room on my shelves. Maybe this is a good winter project. I do have a stack of recently read books to go back to the book sale from whence they came.
Hi! I am Jennifer. I thought I had introduced myself here, but apparently I have not. Oops! I am a reader, writer, Bookmarks subscriber. I prefer literary fiction (with a fondness for 'first' novels) and classics. Novels of hefty bulk make me unusally excited; I am talking to you War and Peace!!I appreciate the camaraderie within this group and enjoy reading the threads.

I'm glad you're enjoying the group. I wish your excitement over hefty novels would rub off on me. I have quite a few on my shelves just waiting to cause me carpal tunnel.
Hi, everyone.I actually joined this group a few months ago after hearing about it through of the one of the tasks that was listed for The Seasonal Challenge book club. I just haven't a chance to introduce myself until now.
The type of books that this group reads is very appealing to me, and I intend to subscribe to Bookmarks magazine soon (as a late Christmas gift to myself). The difficulty I have is fitting in all of the books in which I am interested in reading.
Like many of you, books started to take over my house. It's my vice, but storage was starting to become a problem so I packed up 100s of books, giving some of them away to family and friends, donating a number of others to a senior center where my father is a member, and selling a bunch to a used bookstore for store credit. I still buy books but not as often. I have two Kindles and a very active library card. I discovered that I could fit in at least 2 books a month listening to them on audio during my work commute. I'm a huge bargain hunter so I get many books from the library for $1 each. I always shop around for the best deals and for many of my book club reads, I usually rent, leaving my buying for books that I have discovered on my own.
Also like many of you, when not reading books, I love to read about books, looking for the next great find. Since joining GR, I've expanded my reading selection to include much more non-fiction and the classics.
I work full-time, and I'm married to a man who tolerates my book obsession. We have a little girl who will turn 2 later this month so I end up staying up late at night reading, which is the only real time that I have for myself, but it also means that I tend to be not as well-rested as I should be.
I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you and to participating in the discussions about all of the great books that this club reads.
Welcome Sera :-) I know what you mean about not having enough time to read! There are just not enough hours in the day.
Welcome Sera! I am new too and am enjoying this group :) I just subscribed to Bookmarks magazine as a gift to myself this year too! Looking forward to my first issue.
Thank you so much! I subscribed to the Bookmarks magazine last night, and I am very much looking forward to my first issue.
Hey Sera!I am glad you came over to Bookmarks Subscribers. I was about to write BS, but I don't think Jon would like that too much. Sometimes I am full of it, but the magazine sure isn't. :)
Bookmarks is taking over my house b/c I can't get rid of any of them. I keep track of the books I want to read out of each issue and then go back and read about them AGAIN when I have finished them. Oh, it's a problem.
Thanks, Stephanie! Anything that makes my vice even more enjoyable is fine by me :) I just wish that the first issue would get here already, but unfortunately, it won't be until the March/April issue.
Greetings from Atlanta, GA! My name is Linda and I am a major book addict! I stumbled across this group quite by accident, I have never read Bookmarks, but will be getting my subscription soon and look forward to reading it. I love my DT books and like Lisa, love having them around me, it makes me feel all cozy and warm inside. With that being said, I also have a Nook, which I love reading on, but I do not plan on giving up my DT books! I enjoy reading several differnt authors, I tend to go for mystery/thrillers, horror, true crime. Some of my favorite authors are Harlan Coben, James Patterson, Linwood Barclay, Lisa Gardner, Phillip Margolin, Dean Koontz, Stephen King and countless others. This year I have challenged myself to read 104 books and one of my goals is to read authors that are new to me. I'm excited to be a part of this group and look forward to talking to you all.

I'm glad you accidentally discovered our group, and even more excited it turned you on to Bookmarks. You won't be disappointed! I didn't see Michael Connelly listed in your list of favorite authors. If you love mysteries/thrillers, you must try Connelly. I'm looking forward to your participation in our group.
Lisa, always pushing Connelly :) Welcome to all the new members. You will love it here, especially if you like to expand your horizons. We are glad you joined!
Thanks for the welcome Lisa & Barb, I will definetly take a look at Michael Connelly, any particular book I should start with? I do have several new authors on my constanly growning TBR list.
Linda wrote: "Thanks for the welcome Lisa & Barb, I will definetly take a look at Michael Connelly, any particular book I should start with? You could also start with the Mickey Haller series The Lincoln Lawyer, which is being released as a movie this year. My favorite stand alone is The Poet.
Lisa got me to read Michael Connelly and I am now a fan. I think she is secretly his publicist, or maybe his wife. ;) I love that this group is helping Bookmarks subscriptions! I think Jon & Co. have done a fantastic job of not just providing us with a magazine that features reviews, but a magazine that features all things reading. I can't imagine not having it arrive in the mail...I was freaking out when my Jan/Feb issue was late.
Hi Everyone, I have had a subscription to Bookmarks for years, and I have saved every copy. When a new issue arrives nothing gets done for awhile. I enjoy every aspect of the magazine, and I have intended to join this group months ago when I first discovered it.
Hi Susan! Welcome to the group! Looking forward to hearing your opinion on books.@Lisa - I love that picture! How adorable!
I'm on my second issue of Bookmarks magazine and LOVE IT! Was happy to find this group on GR. I would love to have a Bookmarks subscription on my Kindle as I really see that I am going to need to save these magazine and reference them often.
@ Kerry
Welcome, so glad you discovered Bookmarks and our group on GR! Bookmarks and GR have added greatly to my reading happiness. I look forward to your participation.
Hi Heather! Glad to see you found out about the magazine. I always look forward to seeing it in the mailbox!
Hi Heather! :) glad you joined over here! I just found out about the magazine too this year and now am a subscriber. Love it! Looking forward to talking with you here too.
I'm planning on reading that one too Heather! It sounds amazing with lots of great reviews. I did read
and enjoyed it, but didn't love it...gave it 3 stars. It is worth a read though as many people seemed to really like it.
Heather wrote: "Thank you so much for the nice welcome! I've just been sitting here pondering which one of the current group reads I'd like to try and participate in. I think I'm leaning toward [book:Unbroken: A W..." Finally convinced my book club to do that one for our April read! Can't wait to get started, my husband really enjoyed it.
@Heather
Welcome to the group! I'm glad you found us through Tasha and we have another Bookmarks convert. It's my favorite magazine!!!
I'm Leslie from Jacksonville FL. I would like to join this group because I enjoy reading comments from others about books I'm reading and those I want to read. I'll investigate Bookmaks, too. I enjoy more non-fiction, but I'm trying to "loosen up" and read more stories. Just finished Unbroken and The Help, and am now reading a complilation of O. Henry short stories. I look forward to good discussions and reviews!
Quick question from a new member: should I refrain from comments about current books until the date is closed? I would like to comment on Unbroken, but don't want to spoil the ending for those who haven't read it yet. I should wait until the end of March? Thanks.
Hi Leslie! Welcome to the group. I look forward to your discussion, and by all means comment at any time. If you feel your comments may spoil the ending for others, then just make sure you alert others by posting ***SPOILERS***. You can use the "(some html is ok)" to hide spoilers or just type in bold.
Lisa wrote: "Hi Leslie! Welcome to the group. I look forward to your discussion, and by all means comment at any time. If you feel your comments may spoil the ending for others, then just make sure you alert..."ok, thanks. i look forward to sharing comments...

Leslie, I know I welcomed you earlier, but I did it without my usual pic, and I didn't want you to be left out. Susan, I'm glad to have you in the group. I know you've been on for a little while now, but happy you've introduced yourself.
I had surgery on February 18th and have been out on the mend, so I am FINALLY getting back into goodreads. I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our new members! We look forward to discussing great Bookmarks titles with you!
