We can also say the same about the real Olivia. We are getting to know her partners in the alternate world. They are not bad guys. The master of all the evil seems to be Walternate.

Very true. Though Walternate seems to only be like he is in that reality because his child was stolen from him by his equivalent from an alternate reality, which would certainly twist one's mind. Imagine being in his position.

And you are right, if your kid was abducted, you would not recover from that!

It's possible that Walternate was "evil" before his son's abduction, but we have no reason to assume that, as all it showed of him before the abduction was him trying desperately to find a cure for Peter.

Looking at it from Walternate's perspective, even beyond the kidnapping, his world is under attack, mini blackholes ripping though it, which is a direct result of Walter crossing over. He sees it as war, with Walter and company as the enemy. He has no way of knowing it wasn't a planned attack, an unintentional side effect of Walter's ill advised trip to Walternate's world.
Walternate's a scientist first and foremost. Just like his counterpart, Walter. Science isn't good or evil, it just is. Walternate feels justified in doing whatever he can to protect his world. I wouldn't say Walternate is evil, I would call him driven. And perhaps he's a bit mad, after all Walter is and they're two sides of the same coin. Walternate's practices may be unsavory but he's doing it to save his world. From one perspective, he's a hero.
I still don't like him but I can understand his reasoning.

Very well-put, Jackie.

this is true. im afraid she will give up on her other life. give up on Frank and fall in love with Peter...and then what when the real Liv comes back?

It was the ultimate sacrifice. So moving in a sci-fi tv show type way :)
I think someone will find out. And then all hell will break loose.

We can also say the same about th..."
Also true. Her partners are nice guys. :)

And you are right, if your kid was abducted, you would not recover from that!"
Evil Walternate came 2nd. And yes I know you would never recover, but I think the real thing is he doesnt really care about his son. When Walter took Peter he caused a rift that started tearing the alternate world aapart, and ever since he just wants to destroy the real world. Even by sacrificing his son.

I think that's true. Walternate didn't come to rescue Peter, he came to bring Peter back to use as a weapon.

But what if Walter knows she's lying. I mean, when she said something to the effect "It didn't work. It was just black" - do you think he bought that?

I see that too, yet she keeps doing evil things.

But it wasn't just the kidnapping that did turned him - that's why the the Walter in our reality asked Mr. Spock to take out parts of his brain - he knew what he was becoming.

I forgot that part. Thanks for reminding me.

Christine wrote: "Its interesting how an actor can play a character in two different ways, Walter and Walternate would be easy because they are so different but the differences in the Olivias are more subtle."
Again, I think the differences are much more obvious because Walter has had pieces of his brain removed but Walternate did not. I prefer the blonde Olivia :-)

That red-haired Olivia from the other side is a real B***h! The Olivia from our reality is Amazing! Someday when I've got some extra money, I'm getting me a t-shirt that says "Team Dunham".

Did the Fringe Hand Logo always have 6 fingers like on the t-shirt? I never noticed it until I saw the shirts. And btw, has anyone figured out the Fringe code at commercial breaks (dots in different places around the different symbols)? I'm assuming these are still being done - I haven't really noticed lately. I've heard only a genius can follow the code, since it's so complicated - Jason of the Borg, can you clue us in on what hidden things are being encoded? We'd really appreciate your shared secrets & wisdom. Thanks.

I always record the show on my DVR, so I just fast forward through parts that aren't the show, therefore I have not noticed any code. I hadn't heard about it until now. I'll try to remember to watch for them from now on, but I assume the code spans episodes, rather than being contained within a single commercial break or single episode, so I might not be able to figure it out before watching all the episodes from the beginning.

I don't know about a code either. Tell me more. I DVR so no commercials for me.

u would... get me one while your at it hahahahahah. nerds unite. lol.

Def always has hand 6 fingers :)

dude i never thought of these dots as codes. what exactly are they supposed to be? I watch online so they dont really do they inserts.

By the way, whoever said I was a genius? ;-)

Then, as long as I don't end up like that guy from a few episodes back of Fringe, I'll take that as a complement. By the way, did anyone notice the parallels of that episode with the book/movie, Flowers for Algernon? http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/18...

What does "bovvered" mean? I can only find "bovver" in the dictionary, which is British slang for "rowdiness," especially that of street gang youths, and I don't see how that fits in the context of what you said. :-)

I did not pick up on that. Great catch. That is one of my all time favorite books. I've read it a couple of times. No wonder you are considered "The Genius" of the bunch! haha

Yes, I love it too. I read it (and then watched the movie) when I was 12 and it has stuck with me ever since.

Thanks! :-) (blushing)

Its one of those books/movies that sticks with you. I have used it as a reference for I don't know how many things. The last time was in an Ethics class a few years ago. Most of the kids in the class had not heard of it.
No need for blushing!

Cool! I might be teaching there next semester. :-) What does she study?

The name of the class is "Brain and Behavior;" it is a biological psychology course. As an undergraduate, I studied physics & astronomy before I switched to neuroscience and psychology. Perhaps she will do the same, if she takes my class. ;-)

Fauxlivia seems like she might be getting convinved that the alternate reality is not evil like Walternate has been portraying it. Each episode it shows her, she seems to realize that this reality is almost identical to her own, not evil, like she's been taught.
