Jackie (thelastwolf) I'd be surprised if it weren't on DVD. Not sure about hulu.

message 302: by Christine (new)

Christine True Lies is one of my all time favorite movies! When Eliza Dushku appeared on Buffy, I kept thinking I know her from somewhere and it took me a while to figure out it was True Lies.

message 303: by Becca (new)

Becca (goblinfan) | 29 comments Yes, Tru Calling is on DVD. I have the whole show, though I still haven't gotten around to watching the second season. My only problem with the show was that she ran everywhere, which kinda got repetitive. I did like her character...even though she apparently couldn't afford any sort of transportation.

Hahaha, that's hilarious!

i dont think hulu has it. but it was pretty good though got cancelled. Def not a trublood fan, no i havent watched alot of it..but its an excuse for vampire porn lol. not into it. i like the old corny good shows like buffy lol. not into the hype. though i do like anna paquin.

Carol Neman | 118 comments Becca wrote: even though she apparently couldn't afford any sort of transportation.

Yeah, I had to laugh at that too.

Anna Paquin will always be Rogue to me...I haven't seen True Blood (yet).

I've gotten hooked on Charmed...I never watched it when it first came out, I got the idea into my head that it was lame, definitely not up to Buffy code...but last year when I went to visit my daughter, I found out that she and my grand-daughter were into it (as well as the Nanny, which I also got hooked on) so when I saw 6 of the Charmed paperbacks on a sidewalk rack of a used bookstore, I bought them on impulse, for them of course...but I had to read them first, you understand, before I gave them over...which made me want to see the series from the beginning...so then I got hooked on it too. Now I have seen the whole 8 seasons through to the end, and the beginning episodes about three times or so.

I just love the character of Leo Wyatt, played by Brian Krause. It was interesting, too, when I found out that my son-in-law had actually known him in 'acting school' in Orange County like 20+ years ago.

message 307: by Christine (new)

Christine I finally got around to watching the latest episode of Fringe...."Do Shapeshifters Dream of Electric Sheep". Another goodie.

I knew it would be Peter who would start to see "little differences" in the faux Olivia. I also think Walter was seeing something in her hair while he was in his self medicated state. The tips of her hair sparkled?

Did you see the shameful product placement just before Peter and Faux Olivia started to chase Newton near the end, the camera focused on the model of the car, Taurus? It lasted a few seconds. Or is there some other significance to that? It was weird.

I got around to watching this episode the other day too :-) I didn't notice a blatant promotion for Taurus though, but I know the scene you're talking about - I did notice Walter's hair comment though.

message 309: by Christine (new)

Christine During the game tonight they showed some pretty good previews to upcoming episodes of Fringe. I can hardly wait.

Back to Walter's hair comment, if I remember Olivia figured out Peter was from the alternate world because he would shimmer. I am guessing that is what Walter saw.

message 310: by Carol (new)

Carol Neman | 118 comments 'Fringe' sounds like one I should see from the very beginning, in order to really understand all the supernatural implications. Next time I'm at the library, I will look for it in the DVD section...

message 311: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) Carol, yes, you have to see it from the beginning. It's a storyline that builds with each episode, deepening the mythology of the show.

I don't think so, because Walter doesn't have the psychic-like ability that Olivia has to be able to do that.

Christine Jason "plasborgma" wrote: "I don't think so, because Walter doesn't have the psychic-like ability that Olivia has to be able to do that. "

But if you remember he was self-medicating at that moment on LSD and who knows what that might allow Walter to do.

Jaice Cooperrider (plasborgma) | 1299 comments Christine wrote: "But if you remember he was self-medicating at that moment on LSD and who knows what that might allow Walter to do."

True, but I think it would more likely make him able to observe something not psychic that would tip him off than to suddenly have a psychic ability.

message 315: by Christine (new)

Christine Jason "plasborgma" wrote: "True, but I think it would more likely make him able to observ..."

I think Walter took the LSD so he could see an altered reality, allowing him to see what he normally could not see. Wasn't that the purpose of his "lecture" to the Massive Dynamic people?

THis is true, who knows. We will see what happens. Im very unhappy theres no Fringe, or Bones because of Baseball lol.

X Files anyone? I just bought the first X Files movie on VHS at this comic book store I go to to buy Buffy Comics. ANyone seen it?

Jaice Cooperrider (plasborgma) | 1299 comments Jenna wrote: "...X Files anyone? I just bought the first X Files movie on VHS at this comic book store I go to to buy Buffy Comics. ANyone seen it?"

The first X-Files movie is as good as the second is bad, in my opinion.

message 318: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) I'm with Jason on that.

message 319: by Jenna (new)

Jenna (bookworm12186) I like both. Other then Scully needs to eat some carbs in the 2nd.

message 320: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) Seriously! She got so thin, I barely recognized her. Having her and Mulder hook up was stupid. In all their years working together it was never like that. My opinion is that when the writers have nothing good to write, they go for the hook up.

message 321: by Christine (new)

Christine I don't know if Mulder and Scully were meant to hook up but they definitely cared very deeply for each other. Thats why their partnership worked. The hook up just came out of that. I mean who else understood the things they saw and did

message 322: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) I get it, I just don't buy it. To me, it's a get-out-of-jail-free-card, we have nothing else to do so let's hook them up. It cheapens the deep relationship they had. They would have done anything for each other, died for each other.
The other reason it doesn't work for me is that there was no sexual attraction ever, none at all. Either you have chemistry or you don't. They didn't, not in the sexual realm.

message 323: by Christine (new)

Christine You are right about the sexual attraction. There never was any chemistry there. I always felt that Scully had an obligation to Mulder to stay with him thru thick and thin. She needed to take care of him in a way. That left no personal life for her. If you do that, you want to lucky once in a while. LOL

message 324: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) I guess, LOL

Wow Jenna's one comment threw us retro back to the X-files :-) Thanks Jenna! Yesterday it was fun because the outdoor mall that I work at was playing Halloween themed music and the X-files theme song came on as I was walking outside - It really made my day. I dressed up as a hippy for Halloween - which for anyone who knows where I live - really just helped me blend in with the locals but gave me an excuse not to wear my work uniform and to wear a wig.

I think they tried the Mulder-Scully relationship too late in the series. It might have worked earlier. I love Scully but not Gillian Anderson - she bugs me. I watched her on Jay Leno right before the second movie, I Want To Believe, came out and she was so flaky it annoyed me - she was nothing like Scully and it really saddened me deeply :-( She said she didn't even remember that Scully had a baby - Hello! She was Scully, how could she forget something like that. It seemed the Scully in The X-Files: I want to Believe was more Gillian Andersen than Scully - the hair made a big difference. Gillian must of thought she had done enough dying through the years that she could just go with her regular hair rather than Scully's.

I just watched a season one Supernatural episode called "Skin" it featured a shape-shifter and brought to mind a couple of X-files episodes and of course several Fringe episodes too :-) The X-files episodes I though of were:
Small Potatoes (Season Four)
Alone (Season Eight)

Carol Neman | 118 comments The episode I liked in the X-Files (not the ONLY ep. I liked, however) was the one that starred Tony Shalhoub as a guy whose shadow was trying to take him over if he was to doze off or go to sleep. Of course, the government got their hands on him and at the end he's pretty crazy because he hasn't allowed himself to sleep. I think this was just before Monk.

I never watch Leno, but I just happened to see that segment when it aired. I was very disappointed with Gillian too. I never expected her to be anything like Scully, but what kind of lame-brain can't remember details like that about a character she played for 9 consecutive years?! Come on!! I lost all respect for her after seeing that. I have played the X-Files theme song during many Trick-or-Treat nights, but I didn't this year, because it was too inconvenient. Did you go trick-or-treating with your wife and children?

message 330: by Christine (new)

Christine Kind of a funny story about that theme song, my son was about 8 or 9 years old when the show was on and it was always a mad dash to get him and his sister off to bed so we could watch the show. I can't tell you how many times, this scared voice would call down from upstairs, I can hear that music, please turn it down. It makes us laugh now because he loves the show.

message 331: by Becca (new)

Becca (goblinfan) | 29 comments Haha Christine. I was never scared of the music, but there were a few episodes that freaked me out. I started watching around the third season, I was about 9 or 10 at the time.

And way to go Dustin Crazy, personal theme song is the X-Files theme. Lucky dog. ;)

I am bald and beautiful :-) So we're on for Fringe is that the word?
I was wondering - I have started moving my fingers like Walter does sometimes and like that guy on the Plateau episode did touching each finger to thumb - is this something you think I should be concerned about? Is this show affecting subliminally and am I changing into a different version of myself?

Yah - Bald IS beautiful - just not on GIRLS! AND - the finger twitching thing...is a sign of genius, so - just be open to it - unless you start calculating how to kill people - then it could pose a problem...

Just watched episode 5 about Amber and rated it 5 out of 5 stars. You can still vote for a few days at the link I posted a couple of comments ago. Loved that episode! According to the poll results so far on the episode, it's very highly rated :-) Interesting to see the role that the twin towers are playing in this series.

I love how liv is finally starting to 100% believe that she doesnt belong there, shes traveled through time and now walternates plan is going to backfire in his face. i just want mr. josh jacksons character to wake up...and whats going to happen when liv comes back? hes over there sleeping with the alternate....bum bum bum
