Karolyn (karol_93) | 13 comments humanity is one of the major themes through the narratives of frederick duglass.however, it does't mean that slaves were treated like humans.for instance, slaves used to recieve huge punishments for small reasons.consequently, many slaves used to got desencitized, or others as frederick did fight to gain his humanity back.generally, in those times slaves used to be treted as furniture, or animals, because for treir masters they were just not human.clearly, based on many facts that happened back then, and the progress on society, slave was sucessfully abolished and today we're all equal. in conclusion, by dehumanizing someone you also lose your humanity, as the narratives of frederick douglass showed in many ocations.
