Rose (obsessedreader9) | 215 comments What did you think of Crossing to Safety? I've read a couple Stegner books--I think he's a great writer. A book club I'm in will be discussing his Angle of Repose, which has been in my TBR stacks for a while.

CROSSING TO SAFETY was the first Stegner I've read. Very quiet. Most of the story takes place around the edges of a lake, hidden in the forest and the tone and pacing matches that calm. It is simply the story of a friendship over many years, the things that happen and the things that don't. I didn't love it, but ANGLE OF REPOSE is still on my list to read.
