If you haven't read Bless Me, Ultima, I highly recommend. This may end up being my favorite book this year. It's going to be hard to beat.

I would be interested in reading a book together but I have soooo many books to read as is :( How many books do you own, Mark? How about you, Kelsie? Kelsie- I know you have a Kindle! What about you, Mark? I am a huge book enthusiast so I do not own a Kindle or Nook, and do not have a desire to own one!Wow, that's awesome that you found a book that you like so much, Mark! I gotta put it on my to read list!!
Kristin, I own a Kindle but I purchase "regular" books too. :) Especially if I really like the book, I'll make sure I have a physical copy to display on my bookcase. I've been buying more "regular" books lately through Amazon now that I have a house instead of a sketchy apartment for UPS to deliver to, lol. :)So I'm changing my mind about Matched! I was into it until 3/4 of the way through when I became meh about it. I almost bought the rest of the series but now I'm in no rush to finish.
I do own an ereader. I have the Nook and the iPad, but I like the Nook much better for reading. I do have a ton of books to read as well. After I made the suggestion of reading together, I realized my reading list is quite full. I also belong to another group that I read classics with from time to time. And I'm starting a kids' reading club for my nieces, to direct their education a little. So I think I've got my reading list pretty full. Any must-read suggestions for 11 year-old-girls?
Going to start Gone Girl tonight! Want to see what all of the hype is about :)Kelsie- I wasn't going to look into read books 2 & 3 of the Matched series, but my friend Michele is going to let me borrow them lol. She really liked Matched...I thought it was ok. I feel like it copied the Hunger Games series a bit :-/
Mark - When I was 11, I used to love reading Goosebumps, Fear Street, Dear Diary books, and anything by Lurlene Mcdaniel! Quite a variety :)
Mark - the Dear America series was always a favorite at age 11.Kristin - How is Gone Girl so far? It's probably expensive (for a Kindle book) because of all the hype! I'm reading Looking for Alaska (my first John Green read) and it's kind of disturbing!
Gone Girl is OK so far- I am 100 pages in and can tell the main characters are in a disastrous relationship lol. Not sure what will happen!!I've never read John Green before!
I'm in a depressing book rut lol! I've read so many books recently about kidnappings, missing people, death, etc...I am going to need an uplifting story soon!!
Kristin wrote: "Very well!! On book 25 of the year..on track to read 50 :) Ah, hope I can make it!!"Oh wow! You switched your book challenge from 35 to 50? Mine is still at 35 and I'm 5 books ahead. Maybe I will bump up my goal?
Kristin, you are doing awesome this year! Congrats!I'm still 4 books ahead but I need to keep up the pace! I've had wedding brain lately (dress shopping!) and house brain (furniture coming this week, painting the bedroom) going on.
Can't wait for vacation and a week of reading! :)
Thank you!!!! I am on a roll and can't stop :) I try and read at lunch and before bed each night! I find that I read the most if I just have one weekend day open hahaI am hoping to get to 52 books this year!!!
Kristin,You read The Fault in Our Stars, right?
Remember when I tried to be an extra in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, but they filmed during my work hours?
Well, the casting agency still sends me e-mails & I just found out Pittsburgh is portraying Amsterdam in The Fault of Our Stars movie! Interesting!!
Yes!!! Wow, that is crazy! I think the movie will be better than the book..I didn't really care for the book :-/
Both of you are on a roll. I'm getting into reading again. Summer is always busy. I started three books and haven't finished them, but I'm on my way now. Maybe I'll make the goal for the year. I can't even remember what I set it to.
Kristin, I've been thinking of some additional questions I want to add to our end-of-year book meme. I think I'm going to revise it before it's time for us to post!
Kristin, I'm only 56% through, but I'm so captivated by The Tragedy Paper. I see it's on your to-read shelf. You must get to it!!
I'm sorry to say I'll be leaving the group. I have a huge workload this year, and will probably not be able to contribute as much again this year. Best of luck on your reading and finding great books to drown in...
It's OK! I'm 100 pages in and although it's a quick read, it's nothing to write home about yet. I'm not overly impressed.
Have you ever tried an audiobook? I know you aren't in the car much, but they can be handy while doing housework.
Nope! I usually listen to music/sing while I clean! Our apartment layout is perfect for cleaning- kitchen is near bathroom, so I clean both in one fell swoop, and pretty quickly!!! I don't think I would be able to focus on an audiobook!!
Kristin wrote: "Kelsie- you may hit 50 books this year lol!! If you're on book 25 in June, you have a good chance!"This is confusing to me since it's wedding year, but I am flying through books pretty quickly!
Kelsie, you MAY make it to 50 books this year! Go girl go!!I'm 7 books behind schedule :( I gotta pick it up!!!
I wonder how much reading I'll get done on our honeymoon? There will be lots of beach and pool time so I should bring a couple books, I think! How do you decide which book to read next? Are you a mood reader or do you have a system for picking your next book?
Yes! Bring a couple of books for sure :) I'm heading to Wildwood this weekend and bringing a few books!I have a list of all of my books typed up on LJ in ABC order by author. I tell Steven to pick a number and that typically decided my next book haha!

If I borrow a book or if a movie base don a book is coming out soon, I let them take precedence!
How about you?
How abo
I just changed mine from 32 to 35. I am 8 books ahead... maybe I should bump it up more? NOT looking forward to all the work that's waiting for me in my office after our trip. My 30 minute lunch/reading break is going to be my only savior to get me through this next week, lol.
Good luck getting back into the routine!! I am traveling a lot for work this month so maybe I'll get a lot of reading time in on the flights and in hotels!!
Traveling provides a great opportunity to read! However, I started One Good Friend Deserves Another in the Florida airport and couldn't get into it. Then the plane's wifi was down so I was stuck with it. :( I think I'm going to donate it to Goodwill rather than force my way through it.
