Now is the time to weed! I have it on the menu for today, too.

But...but....but....I gotta' go to the shot thing, and the swimmeet, and get these forms in and...

message 2953: by [deleted user] (new)

I guess I could do it now, but that would mean putting down the coffee and getting off my computer. Not. Likely.

message 2954: by [deleted user] (new)

You are hereby officially exempt from weeding today! Get a cup of your favorite beverage and go sit outside and read until it's doctor time. It will fortify you against Mr. Psuedopod! :)

message 2955: by [deleted user] (new)

Yay! Thanks, Jeannette! I did end up getting the school stuff packed up and I also hit the boy's closet last night, so I wasn't a complete failure yesterday. I'll weed tomorrow.

message 2956: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm running the bullpen at the meet so that means I have to yell a lot. I'm not a yeller. But maybe that dad will get close and I can belt out "EVENT 38 TO THE BULLPEN" in his ear. Heehee. Is that passive-aggressive?

message 2957: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 29, 2010 05:45AM) (new)

Yes, but it just might work! Maybe you could hit him with a wet towel, accidentally?

message 2958: by [deleted user] (new)

That might be obvious. I'll have to work on this, I'm not really an aggressive type. I'm more of a whoops-I-didn't-see-you-and-knocked-you-into-the-pool type.

message 2959: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, well, that'll work, too! Throwing the towel at him, accidentally, would take timing and stealth. hmmmm? Maybe the obviously obnoxious shirt is a better idea. I'll have to think about this.

message 2960: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 29, 2010 06:01AM) (new)

Okay, Christine, here's the bag for you:

message 2961: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh! I want that! Where did you find it???

message 2962: by [deleted user] (new)

Jeannette wrote: "Oh, well, that'll work, too! Throwing the towel at him, accidentally, would take timing and stealth. hmmmm? Maybe the obviously obnoxious shirt is a better idea. I'll have to think about this."

I'm not a good towel zapper. I will probably end up smacking myself with it.

message 2963: by [deleted user] (new)

It is a quote from Jane Austen (my hero!). Here is a link to the website.

Pemberley Shoppe

The totes are cheaper at www.cafepress.com

I just haven't had the time to browse the site to find it. Pemberley adds $3 to the price. I have ordered from cafe press before.

message 2964: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay, here is the page directly from cafe press:

Intolerably Stupid

message 2965: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't want you to attempt direct towel-snapping, I just thought there was a hamper for wet stuff and you could pitch stuff at the hamper and "miss" as he went by. But, it would take planning. bwahaha...

Have been following the "saga"... What a jerk, Christine! I think you should have a few words with Dixie. Then you can tell the man to be careful of your trained beast. Trained to attack persons of inferior intellectual capacity.

PS Love the bag Jeannette! The "Geek" bag too.

message 2967: by Beth (new)

Beth Knight (zazaknittycat) | 55 comments I haven't read many posts on GR for a couple of days so I'm trying to catch up! Anyway, Christine (I think) I can't believe that guy at the pool! What a complete jerk. I do think you should get that bag and wave it in front of his face.

Mona and Jeannette (I hope it was you who also used to work in a bank) you two definitely should write a book! I'd want to read it for sure!

message 2968: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Hayes! How's the bathroom coming along?

Thanks for the link, Jeannette. I'll have to look at it later when I can spend the time. Off for shots now (eeks!).

Hi Hayes! How is your renovation coming along? Is the weather at least tolerable? Nothing worse than dust and heat in a small space. I love the quote from Jane, so I knew it would be perfect for Christine's situation. :)

message 2970: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks, Beth! Mona had all of the scary bank adventures! It brought back a lot of memories....

message 2971: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Good grief! My head is spinning from so many posts since I posted yesterday? Was it just yesterday? Wow! I love the bag you found, Jeannette, for Christine. Cafe Press is a favorite site of mine, and I order from there quite a bit. Mona, what was that about whipped cream and hubby? LOL! Hayes, I forgot about your renovation. Apparently, you haven't lost your mind, yet. Do tell us what is happening with it. I might actually do a little work around the house today. I finished Broken for You by Stephanie Kallos last night, and I just loved this book. I highly recommend it. I will probably venture out sometime today and pick up Tess Gerritsen's new book, Ice Cold, which hits shelves today.

message 2972: by [deleted user] (new)

Kathy, Kathy! It was whipped cream and cake for my husband! lol

Christine and I were up early and running today, while you were getting your beauty sleep. :) Enjoy the day!

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 529 comments That is a fabulous bag.

message 2974: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm mad at the mailman. He didn't deliver my book...again. Yes, I know that I have shelves full of books, but I want that Tarquin Hall book!

I think she is beyond pouting! lol

message 2977: by [deleted user] (new)

Okay, my apologies to the U.S.Postal Service. Apparently my book was delivered when I wasn't home, and my son put the box where I didn't see it. So I was a big baby for nothing.

message 2978: by [deleted user] (new)

Just so you are happy now, Christine. :) Hit Mr. non-fiction with your new book tonight!

message 2979: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Great bag!!! I have a couple of dozen tote bags and definitely don't need any more, but I love it.

Jeannette: I'm just checking in for a little while here. Thanks for clearing Kathy's whipped cream/hubby mix-up for me. That's what happens when you fall behind in group posts.

And, btw, whipped cream & hubby? Not gonna happen! :D

Mona Garg (k1721m) | 492 comments Christine: I'm glad you got your Tarquin Hall book. I was planning to start it yesterday but I thought I should work on my FirstReads, Stand.

I'm guessing you're not going to be too happy if/when the USPS goes to 5-day-a-week delivery.

I have tons of books/mags to read too but there's no feeling like getting yet another in the mail.

I wonder if your story-hater-dad will start lecturing you about inscriptions on totebags, "bags are utility items meant for carrying things not for decorating. Decorating and adorning bags is a waste of time and money blah blah blah."

Here's a quote you can throw in his face:
"It is not advisable to venture unsolicited opinions. You should spare yourself the embarrassing discovery of their exact value to your listener."
— Ayn Rand (Atlas Shrugged)

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 529 comments I think I shall refer to Mr. Swim Dad from now on as Mr. Gradgrind. Facts! Facts! Facts!

message 2984: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Yeah, too bad you didn't have the bag on you. You could have just held it up. ha ha

We're back from the meet. I managed to avoid crazy-swim-dad myself, but I could hear him yapping to other poor folks.

I'm tired tired tired, but wanted to pop in and say goodnight. (and shout "hi" to Wendy too!)

message 2988: by [deleted user] (new)

Good night Christine! Glad that you were spared! I pulled a whole wheelbarrow's worth of weeds tonight. That's what rain and a long vacation causes!

message 2989: by [deleted user] (new)

You're so good. I'm impressed.

Yes, I better get up before I fall to sleep on the keyboard. Nighty-night.

Well what a busy thread this has been! I'm popping in after everyone has gone to bed to say hello. And maybe good morning to Hayes!

I spent the day cleaning and baking in preparation for a tea party/playdate scheduled for tomorrow (wednesday) and am pooped. We rarely entertain but my daughter is a social butterfly and has been begging to have people over. I always feel so much pressure to have the house clean because it's normally pretty untidy. I made chocolate chip cookies and tomorrow we are going to try something called popovers from this adorable kid's cookbook called Pretend Soup and Other Real Recipes: A Cookbook for Preschoolers & Up.

Jeannette, I love the quote on the tote bag! Thanks for posting that.

And Mona the Ayn Rand quote about unsolicited advice is awesome as well. It's amazing what comes out of people's mouths sometimes, even total strangers who like to tell you what to do.

message 2992: by [deleted user] (new)

Have a fun tea party, Lee! I love that! What a good mom you are.

Good morning comfies! (afternoon to some)
I passed out asleep without getting the cover open on my book last night. Hopefully I can hide somewhere today and read a bit. The day is busy on and off here so I'm sure I'll ramble a bit on goodreads, haha!

message 2993: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (literaryfeline) Good morning, Christine and all! I'm such a bad group member. I'm sorry I haven't been around lately. I woke up a good hour before my usual start time today(4:30 instead of 5:30a) and I'm in a surprisingly good mood considering. I was singing songs to the cats and dog as I prepared their breakfast this morning. LOL We'll see how long the mood lasts once I get to work.

I hope you all have a great day!

message 2994: by [deleted user] (new)

Good morning everyone! It's promising to be another beautiful day here! Hope it's the same by you! :)

How wonderful, Lee, hosting a tea party. It gives me a wistful feeling....

More swimming today, Christine? I'm glad to see that you got some sleep!

Have a great day everyone else! Don't wake Kathy! :p

message 2995: by [deleted user] (new)

Jeannette, There is always swimming, haha! But Tues/Thurs/Saturday are usually meet days. Every morning she has practice from 6:15 (in the morning) to 8:30.

Wendy,
Yes, be sure to keep the singing quiet so that we don't bug Kathy. :)

message 2996: by [deleted user] (last edited Jun 30, 2010 05:57AM) (new)

I just went out to fix my bird bath (it was tipped) and I got chased by a nesting duck. Sheesh! I didn't see her in there because I really need to clean up my overgrown shrubs. Well, not now I guess...the duck is my excuse. I don't want to be seen running from a crazed duck again.

Good morning, Wendy! You and I were writing at the same time, so I missed your post. It is nice to have you back. How odd, though, to be so cheerful at 4:30a! Hope it lasts all day! :)
