No, I didn't. Thanks for the info. Now, I'm liable to have My Fair Lady music swimming through my head all evening.

I'm always so behind on the chat here so let me just say thanks for all the well wishes regarding my thumb. It's now sort of a weird brown lump on the tip that I can't help poking all the time. And whoever said I was distracted by all the working out was right because I did happen to be thinking about the gym while chopping onions. Also, the knife wasn't very sharp which I know is a no-no.

I hope all you travelling ladies have fun on your trips. I can't keep track of who is going where and when but I hope you all have a great time.

I spent a gloriously lazy day devouring the last book in the Lizbeth Salander trilogy. I haven't let disaster reign in order to read a book in quite some time and it was very satisfying!

message 2305: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Lee, Glad you had a lovely day reading, and happy that you're working out, but please don't get injured again! Ouch!

I promise to be more careful. :-)

Oh. My. Gosh. Why is packing such a chore? Well, it's done, and the cats are set to hang out here without the dog (they are giddy with excitement) because all they need is a friend to check in on them. Grandma reports that the dog is enjoying barking at all of her neighbors.

Yes, I picked books that seem like happy ones, except for one thriller by Linwood Barclay that I just wanted to try. No crying pool side for me, Jeannette.

I enjoyed your posts, Kathy, I feel like I know you better. :)

Lee....I'm glad you spent time relaxing with a book, but be careful of paper cuts too. Stay in one piece until I get back please.

Lisa, I'm going to miss the Lost finale. Or at least I'll be watching it really late compared to the rest of the world. Wahhhh!

Good night ladies! See ya' when I get back!

Have a wonderful time, Christine. And keep your ears closed so you don't find out the end of Lost until you see it. I can't believe that I'm going to be glued to the tv from 7:00-11:30 on Sunday! But then there is just American Idol Tuesday & Wednesday and my tv season is pretty much over. More time for reading, I hope.

message 2309: by [deleted user] (new)

Have fun Christine! Have fun Lisa!

See everyone Sunday night (unless you're glued to the tv). lol

I might sign on once or twice during commercials because I'm even more addicted to Goodreads than to Lost, and I will have my cell phone (where I can get email and check and post in Goodreads groups) with me.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Christine, have a fantastic vacation! Jeannette, you have a great weekend, too! Lee, didn't you just love the last Lisbeth Salander book? I so didn't want it to end, as it is the last one. Lisa, thanks for giving me yet another show tune to have in my head today. LOL!

I am now having flashbacks to "It's a Small World."

From 1978!

They didn't have Epcot then, I'd probably have really liked it, better than Disney World (I was 12).

Mona Garg (k1721m) | 492 comments Lisa, you don't watch any of the dance shows? If you do, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE starts May 27th.

Hi Christine: Which Linwood Barclay are you reading? I've never read any of his stuff but it looks interesting and I have NEVER LOOK AWAY on hold at the library.

Ha!!! I understand. It's an overly catchy tune.

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Mona wrote: "Lisa, you don't watch any of the dance shows? If you do, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE starts May 27th."

Mona, I do not. I'm trying to watch less tv so I think I'll keep not watching.

I enjoy dance, but I think I like seeing the professionals. And when I was younger I took folk dancing, even in college, up to the intermediate level. So, I'm a fan, but I'm not that interested in these show. Probably, I would like them and then not want to miss any weeks.

Lost from 7:00-11:30 tomorrow, American Idol Tuesday and Wednesday, I think all my few sitcoms and dramas are done. Jon Stewart's Daily Show probably over after next week. No more Monk in the summers. I might not have to watch much tv until fall. More time to read!!!

Next weekend is Memorial Day here and hubby gets to come in for a long weekend. My son came in last night and is here this weekend. Last weekend, my daughter and her family were in. I'm loving these weekends!

Maude | 479 comments It has been raining here in Boise all day and now it is SNOWING!! It's almost June! I want to go outside in the sun, take walks, play tennis. With all this rain and snow my weeds will be 12 feet high. Enough! Thanks for letting me vent.

message 2320: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Oh Maude, We're getting rain here next week, very late in the year for us. Snow?! It's getting toward late May here!!! Vent all you need!

Hopefully, all of the volcanic ash from the Icelandic volcano will not mean a really severe winter this year. It's warm and muggy in Ontario today and looks like rain again, we were going to go for a long Victoria Day hike, but not now (as a thunderstorm also seems to be developing).

message 2322: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Gundula, Sorry your plans got ruined. Hope you enjoy the holiday in some other way.

Manybooks Lisa wrote: "Gundula, Sorry your plans got ruined. Hope you enjoy the holiday in some other way."

Books are always great, and I would rather not go for a walk when it's both hot and humid. I don't particularly like rain all that much, but my favourite type of weather is dry, sunny and cool (or even cold). Like Fiona, I don't cope well with heat and southern Ontario in the summer can be both stinking hot and humid as well as smoggy (yuck).

message 2325: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Yeah, my least favorite weather is hot & humid. Throw smoggy in and I wouldn't want to be walking outdoors.

message 2326: by Maude (new)

Maude | 479 comments I'm happy at the moment! The sun is out and I am going to take a lovely walk before we get more rain, etc., which we are supposed to have, even possibly more snow. I agree with you, Gundula - dry, sunny and cool which it is today. It gets very hot in summer but fortunately, very little humidity.

I grew up in Calgary, Alberta and although I have not lived there since 1985, I do miss the low relative humidity of Southern Alberta. Unlike Southern Ontario in the summer, even after a very hot day, it usually cools down at night (my parents have never needed an air conditioner, they just open all the windows at might).

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 529 comments Yeah, the humidity is generally a real beast down here in the summer. The heat can be unpleasant as well along about late July/early August.

It was over 90 here today, but not too bad, as I think the humidity was not so bad. I went for a swim this afternoon.

message 2329: by Maude (new)

Maude | 479 comments I just came back from my walk. It began with beautiful weather, I petted two dogs, had a conversation with a horse in his pasture, saw three little girls having a tea party on the lawn, and some teenagers playing basketball. A wonderful walk but little by little the weather changed, first wind, than clouds, and then sprinkles as I reached home. I have curly hair, hence I do not like humidity. I went to Mexico once, in August! and I looked like Little Orphan Annie the whole time I was there.

message 2330: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi everyone! I'm not even going to try to catch up with the back posts, so I'll just jump right in.

The spring has finally arrived. We went to the city Rose Garden yesterday, a lovely sunny Sunday thing to do, and took lots of pictures of roses. My friend left this morning, so this week will be spent trying to catch up on all the housework, etc., and getting life back to normal.

Hope everyone is well.

message 2331: by [deleted user] (new)

Welcome back, Hayes! I had forgotten that your friend was coming to visit! Did she bring you lots of good books!

I just got back from a weekend with family and Christine is in Florida, visiting Mickey Mouse! I like your flowers, but I miss the mountain of books! :)

message 2332: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Jeannette. The mountain will be back. I just needed some spring! Yes she brought me the second Flavia de Luce, Cutting for Stone, and a few other things I can't talk about yet as they are ARCs *shhh*

Glad your weekend was okay. I wish everyone a happy monday too. Lots and lots of sun here, for a change!

message 2334: by [deleted user] (new)

I like reading ARCs. It always feels special to get a book first, before anyone else!

message 2335: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Hayes, so glad you got some book yummies. The Weed That Strings the Hangman's Bag is especially delicious. Ah, if I could only carry out this food metaphor for books in my life, I could lose a few pounds, well on my body, but gain pounds on my shelves. Ha, ha, ha. I'm having way too much fun rambling this morning.

Happy to hear you had a nice weekend with family, Jeannette. My son is in, and last night we went to see my daughter (his sister) and family and ate out at the wonderful pizza place near them. My son hadn't seen his nieces since Christmas and was amazed at how they both had grown.

My hubby will be in Thursday night for a long weekend, Memorial Day. It seems that I have a lot going on during weekends lately, but it's all good stuff with family.

Hayes, I miss your mountain, too.

Good morning everyone! It went from winter to summer here again, in one day, so now I can start complaining about the heat and humidity! :)

I found two manga volumes at Borders last night, the next volumes in two of the series I am reading. My daughter and I did the happy dance!

Have a great day!

Hi everyone! Well we had two gorgeous days of spring and now summer has hit full blast! To be expected really, but what a drag.

Hi Dawn. I've never been to Savannah, but would like to some day.

Jeannette, I can just imagine you and the daughter happy dancing. Funny!
