Manybooks The weather has been really cold and depressing this week, so I think it might just be the weather; I need sunshine in the spring.

Paula wrote: "You may be right. Are you better now?"

Yep. It was just one day of the blahs! Plus, I was tired from a weekend sleepover my daughter had.

We could all use some sunshine soon! :)

What's the new job you don't really want Paula?

What's the scoop? I hope tomorrow is a better day for you!

nighty-night Christine! Rain, rain go away, Christine wants to hit the hay! :)

message 2156: by Manybooks (new)

Manybooks Night everyone. It's been raining all day and last night the skunks were active, the scent was everywhere, including the house. Funny, I had a girlfriend at university who thought that the smell of skunk was sexy (I guess she must have watched a bit too much of Pepe le Pew).

Or suffered from chronic sinusitis!! Skunk... ewwwww.....

On that cheery note... Good Morning everyone! We have a little sunshine here for a change. But so far there have been thunderstorms and downpours every afternoon. Keep the fingers crossed!

Jeannette wrote: "nighty-night Christine! Rain, rain go away, Christine wants to hit the hay! :)"

Haha! Very cute! I actually woke up at 4:00 this morning to the extremely loud birds. They must also be desperate for a sunny day. :)

Have a good start everyone!

He was such a romantic, but way too kissy for my taste.

message 2160: by [deleted user] (new)

I woke up this morning to a blinding light! The clouds are gone and no rain predicted until late Saturday! hooray!! We are going on a campus visit tomorrow, with a cookout, so this is great news.

Wow, skunk -- ewwww is right. That's a smell you don't forget in a hurry. And my robins are not singing in the tree at 4am yet, but then again, it's still too cold to leave a window open, so I might be sleeping through it! lol

Enjoy the day!

That's so funny. I used to tickle my daughter using a Pepe le Pew kissy voice. I think it's time to watch those cartoons again. :)

message 2162: by [deleted user] (new)

I liked the coyote. He was so determined!

message 2163: by [deleted user] (new)

And Speedy Gonzales!

message 2164: by [deleted user] (new)

I liked Speedy too!

Random switch, my niece has her musical tonight. She is a plate (Beauty and the Beast). I'm excited! What could be more fun than singing dinnerware?

message 2165: by Paula (new)

Paula | 184 comments The job is a supervisor in a group that desperately needs some work - low morale, low quality, people call in sick alot. Was kind of begged to come over and I caved, but I love my current team and am not anxious to leave them to go into a troubled environment.

On the other notes - it's finally sunny here so got to enjoy a long walk this morning with my dog!! (love it). My favorite is Wile E. Coyote, too!

And, Christine, I envy that you get to watch your niece in the role of singing dinnerware - that sounds just too cute!!

I always think about skunks when I take my dog out for her last pee at night. I have occasionally smelled a skunk nearby, and I am afraid I will run into one. I did see one across the road one night. You can bet I hightailed it back into the house. My husband says run if I see one, as they won't chase you. Hmm, I wonder if he's ever tested that.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Christine, Jeannette, and Paula--so glad you have sun today. At the moment, it's sunny here, too. There has been a threat of rain all week, but nothing materialized. It looks like a sunny, good day for the garage sale I'm having with my daughter, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law tomorrow. It should be lots of fun. My granddaughter is going to have a coffee/lemonade/doughnut stand, financed by me. I have a feeling that I won't see any return on my investment. LOL! Paula, I wish you well in your new job. You should pat yourself on the back for stepping up to the plate and fulfilling a need where you are obviously wanted. I think you are brave to undertake it. Gundula and Hayes, wishing you a sunshine filled day.

Paula | 184 comments Awww, thanks so much, Kathy! That means alot :) Best of luck on the rummage sale - my favorite part is always when the kids have those side sales going so hopefully it will go well for you and your daughter!

Morning everyone! I actually don't mind the smell of skunk. I just don't want it on ME!

Paula, it sounds like a tough job ahead of you. I agree with Kathy, it's very brave and generous of you to take it on when you're so happy in your current position. I hope it works out and they are inspired by your spirit.

Have fun tweeting! I have about a dozen blogs I'm following that I never seem to get around to reading, so I don't think I'm up for twitter. Don't forget about us over here on GR! :)

Lee, I feel exactly the same way.

Hayes, Absolutely cool pics!!! I haven't even figured out how to insert the static ones.

I'd like to follow anyone interested on Twitter but I'm not tweeting so am ultra boring. But, if anybody is interested in following me & me following them, feel free to pm me. I have a different name there. I also have it set up so I have to approve followers but I approve anyone I know at all. I don't really use it though.

Given Lee's delicious looking breakfast, if I don't mind getting hungry, I might check Twitter more often. Ditto facebook. I'm on facebook maybe once or twice a month and Twitter even less often.

ETA: Or facebook, but I'm almost as boring there.

Good morning to everyone! Jeannette, how was the campus visit? I have so much to do that my head is spinning. Our school work needs to be sent in by Thursday before we leave on our trip, then there is the getting ready for the trip, and both kids have school visits this week. Calgon take me away!

I'm still reading The Vagrants by Yiyun Li , which is only going slowly because I am the queen of distraction lately. It's an excellent book though, and I hope to finish it soon.

I'm still singing Beauty and the Beast songs. I will try to post a picture of my niece, the plate, later today. :)

message 2196: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey Christine! Campus visit went well. Lea definitely wants to go there. We met an English Prof who also runs the Japan Study Abroad. We sat in his office for two hours talking about Japan, sushi, and books! I think my husband is starting to warm to the idea of a private school.

Where are you going? I don't remember you mentioning a trip. I hope it's somewhere fun! Please post the B&B pictures.

message 2197: by [deleted user] (last edited May 16, 2010 09:09AM) (new)

Good morning everyone! We have had sun for two days now. We've been invited to sip coffee on a friend's patio/balcony today, so I hope it warms up, too! :)

That sounds wonderful! I'm glad that she has found a place she wants to be. :)

It's a long trip...about 10 days in Florida with some Disney and some beach time as well. And Dixie is going to stay with grandma. I'll miss all of you here.

When will you be back? I leave June 5th for Germany/Norway, ash cloud permitting. I am hoping the choir will be posting on Facebook, so everyone is welcome to follow us there. I'll let you know.
