Well, at least they found a program you like and they spent an hour on it. BUT, I thought IEP meetings were supposed to be really supportive to the parents and families, not designed to make them feel crummy.

Goo morning! I'm ignoring today's headache and heading out to search the community garage sale thing going on for books.

message 2005: by [deleted user] (new)

Good morning everyone! It is garage sale time here in Ames, too! But it was in the 30's overnight, so I think I'll go out later.....

Enjoy the weekend! Stay healthy and well-fed today everyone! We are having an anime sleepover tonight, so I'll be tired tomorrow. lol

message 2006: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Yes, it is garage sale season once again. I have a friend who goes with her adult daughter every Saturday morning and then they have lunch afterward. A nice outing for mother and daughter. Alas, my daughter lives a bit too far to do that. However, next Saturday, she, my sister-in-law, and I are having a garage sale at my mother-in-law's (she has the best location). As both my daughter and sister-in-law live out of town, it will be a nice get-together for all of us. My daughter and her family are even spending the night on Friday. Whoohoo, the grandbaby will at last be here overnight (older granddaughter has been here several times to spend the night and we have such fun). So, Jeannette and Christine, enjoy the garage sales today, and Jeannette, just keep telling yourself that you are a good mother when the anime sleepover is in full swing. LOL!

Happy hunting at the garage sales! How fun! I love doing that but we are never up early enough to get the good stuff.

That's my problem, too, Lee. My friend and her daughter start out no later than 7 in the morning. I can rarely find myself willing to do that on a Saturday morning.

I just realized that I said "Goo Morning"...haha! So, have your mornings been goo?

Garage sale hunting was not so goo. It's cold and rainy today (and windy!) so a lot of people who were intending to join in the neighborhood sale seem to have skipped it. I was looking for a bookshelf, but no such luck. I did get three books for less than $1.00 so there is my silver lining. I found The Mercy of Thin Air, The Wednesday Letters, and What Looks Like Crazy on an Ordinary Day. I have no idea if any of them are good, but it's only a dollar.

Okay, I'm off to be productive somehow. Have a goo afternoon. :)

I didn't want to mention it; I thought maybe your headache had slurred your speech. xp

The same thing happens with farmers' markets. When I lived in Waterloo, we often went to the local farmers' markets on Saturday, but for some of the rarer fruits and vegetables, like gooseberries, black currants etc. and the freshly baked rolls, if you did not get there by at least 8:30 AM, you were out of luck.

message 2014: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Christine, yes, one more, "goo" catch. Gundula, the farmers' markets you describe sound yummy.

I miss them. Waterloo is Mennonite Country, so you get a lot of really yummy homemade treats, like maple syrup, home baking and lots of fruit and vegetables etc. etc. etc.

Gundula, I've been to the Market in Waterloo and it's always a zoo. We never get there until the afternoon so I'm sure I missed all the good stuff.

I love goo!

message 2017: by Manybooks (new)

Manybooks It certainly is a zoo (I've actually had my pocket picked one time, not unusual supposedly), but really early in the morning, it's not that crowded yet (that is, if you can manage to get there early, even when I lived in Waterloo, we usually did not get there early enough, and the crowds really can make you feel claustrophobic). They do sell great produce, though.

Happy Mother's Day to everyone!

I was supposed to host a family gathering today, but it got cancelled so it's going to be a quiet day of reading. Yay!

Jeannette-How was the sleepover? You deserve a relaxing Mother's Day for sure.

A big Happy Mother's Day to our group mamas, Lee and Lisa!

Happy Mother's Day to every kind of mom (even mom-in-laws)!!

Sleepover is still going, but I got to watch my favorite Japanese rom-com with the girls and they loved it! I will post my mom's day gift in my profile picture section shortly!

Have a great day doing whatever you like best. :)

message 2024: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Happy Mother's Day all you dear mommas! Beautiful flower picture, Hayes. I took my mother-in-law out to eat Friday for Mother's Day, and my daughter is going to cook a meal for me this week. Nobody able to be here with me today, but that's okay. I have cards and calls and a nice, quiet day that I'm going to spoil myself and read. Next weekend we are all getting together.

message 2025: by Diane (new)

Diane (dianedj) Happy Mother's Day to all of you! Celebrate your day with your moms, your children, your grandmas....and enjoy!

Hayes, what a beautiful picture to share with everyone!

Hope everyone has a great day. We've had a quiet day at home, reading and puttering, which is just the kind of Sunday I love.

Maude | 479 comments Happy Mother's Day to each and every one of you!! My son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren took me out for brunch today where I also consumed a large amount of chocolate after eating pizza and am feeling just a little sluggish right now - but happy. It is such a beautiful day here in Idaho (finally) that I will be taking a long walk later. Enjoy the day and pamper yourself! P.S. Lee and Gundula - Is that Waterloo, Canada?

Laura, thank you for posting that gorgeous painting! So lovely.

Maude, yes we are talking about a farmers market in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. :-)
Have you been there?

message 2030: by [deleted user] (new)

Lovely picture, Laura! Is that Cassatt?

message 2031: by Maude (new)

Maude | 479 comments I have never been to Waterloo, only Vancouver, which I really liked. But I love the name, Waterloo; it always makes me think of Waterloo Station, and Napoleon. I would love to see more of Canada in the future.

I second that "uhg," Christine. All weekend, I kept saying that on Monday I would get some stuff done around here, but I was going to take it easy on the weekend. Guess what's here and who's not ready to do anything?

The date says June or Jun 60, so I guess I was 6 years old, since I was born in '54. Moms still wore mostly dresses then.
