Wendy (literaryfeline) Howdy! I have to be in the office at 6:00 a.m., just an hour earlier than usual, but it makes a difference. Getting up before five should be outlawed.

Kathy, I love it when a book carries me late into the night. It doesn't happen often anymore because my eyes don't stay open like they used to even when I am enjoying what I'm reading. But I do try!

I hope you all have a great day.

message 1902: by [deleted user] (new)

Good morning all you early-risers! Hayes, what time are you getting up everyday? I have yet to check which time Rome is in.

Kathy, I'll look for you around lunch time! I try not to read in bed anymore for just that reason. My husband doesn't insist I get up, but I usually am up by 7am. Six hours of sleep is a killer -- 5am is cruel!

Have a great day, everyone!

Rome is 6 hours ahead of NYC (GMT +1). I get up at about 6:30 or 7:00 and usually check in about 8:00.

The sun has decided ot come out, so it's already sticky and uncomfortable... it's going to be a long summer, I fear.

Hope everyone's day is fine!

message 1904: by [deleted user] (new)

Rome's in the same zone as Germany, seven hours ahead from Iowa (which I can see on my wall map, when I choose to look!). We have had a really warm spring already, but it's still chilly overnight.

Way to go Barb! Hope you do well on the golf course. The people here have been out rain or shine for some weeks now.

message 1905: by [deleted user] (new)

Come on, Christine! Tell your daughter that you love all of her sticky notes and "shiny things" so you can get back on line!

(My daughter still collect pop can tabs.)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments You called it, Jeannette. It's lunchtime and here I am. A friend called me around 9:45 and woke me up. She's the friend who gets up at 3:00 a.m. every day. Guess I should be glad she didn't call me earlier. Wendy, I usually can't keep my eyes open anymore either to do late, late night reading, even when it is a great book (as you said). However, lately, I have been able to stay up until 1 or so. I used to be a night owl, so I enjoy the late hours, except that the sleeping in interferes with my morning routine. I suspect that it won't last, the being able to stay up. I think I'm in a manic phase or something, since I've cleaned out the kitchen cabinets and reorganized, cleaned out the hall closet, and scrubbed the shower and shower door down this past weekend. Plus, I finished a great book, The God of the Hive . It could be the impetus of family coming in weekend after next.

Oh Barb, I used to play golf when I was young, on gold team in high school, but I let it slip away as an adult. I still have thoughts of going back to it. Good luck in your lesson!

It is a beautiful day here today, after all the rain this past weekend. I wish you all a beautiful day, too!

message 1907: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Oh curse this mania I seem to be going through, or should I be glad for it. I do seem to be getting some things done that I've put off forever. This afternoon I have been book sorting--shelf reorganizing, weeding (oh my, that's the hardest), and making my new next-up piles. It's made me vow not to buy anymore new books for a while, well, at least until tomorrow when the new Sookie Stackhouse novel comes out. Hehehe!

message 1908: by [deleted user] (new)

You've got it bad, Kathy! :) I do wish I could get started with organizing. I think I am putting it off until the 3 weeks my daughter is away at camp in July (good enough excuse for me.)

Morning everyone! Another cloudy, gray day here in Rome. Rain likely for the afternoon...

Wanna take a trip to Italy, Kathy? I really need someone to whip me into shape. I've been putting the closets off for far too long!!

message 1911: by [deleted user] (last edited May 04, 2010 04:46AM) (new)

Good morning! The computer is here, but it's still being set up. I wanted to jump on and say hi!

I had bookclub last night. We did The Red Tent and Kabul Beauty School. Even with 2 books, we spent 80% of the time talking about other stuff. It was fun

message 1912: by [deleted user] (new)

Good morning ladies! Welcome back, Christine! I'm glad you had some "local" chat to tide you over until you could get back online. :)

Okay, let's arrange a tour to Rome to organize at Hayes' house! Cleaning someone else's closets has to be more fun than cleaning my own. We'll let Kathy be in charge because she seems to be good at this! :)

Have a good one!

Oh, me too! I keep telling myself I'll get to the TBR room closet this weekend, but I've yet to do it. One of these days this weekend might actually get here.

Christine wrote: "I had bookclub last night. We did The Red Tent and Kabul Beauty School. Even with 2 books, we spent 80% of the time talking about other stuff. It was fun"

How fun, Christine! I wish I lived closer to you so I could be a part of your book group. I'm glad you didn't have to wait too long to get your computer back. Our store takes weeks because they are always backed up.

Barb wrote: "We got a new one on Friday."

How fun! I love experimenting with new gadgets that come into the house. New computers are so much fun. I hope you enjoy yours, Barb!

Jeannette wrote: "Cleaning someone else's closets has to be more fun than cleaning my own. We'll let Kathy be in charge because she seems to be good at this! :)"

In my experience, that is very true! It is more fun cleaning out someone else's closet. I'm going to have to be ruthless when I do mine, getting rid of a lot of stuff. I have to be in the right mood for it or I'll want to keep everything. :-S

I hope you all have a great day. I seem to be developing a bit of a headache. I hope it doesn't last.

Don't be too impressed, Lee. Much of it has been years in the waiting for me. I expect to lose interest one of these days very soon. I hope I get my book shelves and baskets organized somewhat more before I do, though.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Goodness ladies, I've been having so much fun replying to the postings that I didn't realize the time. I have to go get ready for lunch with a friend. Christine, enjoy your new computer, and I, too, wish I lived close to you and could be in a book club with you. Wendy, I hope that headache goes away quickly. OK, all you girls, let's start learning that Italian. Hayes, you have created a "let's all go to Italy" monster. LOL!

Kathy,
It' actually my old computer with a makeover. I'm pleased to have a new keyoard though.

Going to Italy is my biggest dream trip! I'm in!

I wish you could all be in my face-to-face bookclub! That'd be cool!

message 1924: by [deleted user] (new)

Count me in for Italy and Illinois! :)

I don't know when I'll check in tomorrow. I got my teeth clean today and the dentist found a "leakage" around a filling (it's hell getting old and leaky). So, it's drilling and filling at 9am! *yikes*

Good to see you back Christine! :)

message 1925: by [deleted user] (new)

Quit leaking over there! Haha! Actually, you have my sympathy...early morning dentist, yikes!

message 1926: by [deleted user] (new)

She promised it was a little cavity. As I get older I get more and more phobic about going to the dentist!

Can you see the ad in the sidebar from enjoyillinois.com? No ad for Italy. :(

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Hey Christine. I'm shutting down the computer for the night, but I saw your post and just wanted to say hello tonight. I'm going to read for a bit on my new book I couldn't resist buying today, the new Sookie Stackhouse book by Charlaine Harris, Dead in the Family Dead in the Family (Sookie Stackhouse, #10) by Charlaine Harris . It came out today.

Italy and England are my two overseas dream trips. I want to visit some ancestral places in England and visit all the great art in Italy.

Jeannette, good luck at the dentist in the morning. Better leaking from that end than another. LOL!

Jeannette, I feel for you! I have to go next month to finish off a root canal job and to rebuilt the tooth. Fortunately the worst is over. I suffered for a month. 9 AM is really too cruel for words!

Christine, glad to have you back online! I truly would be lost without my computer.

*off to prepare beds for all the visitors*
**sigh** wouldn't that be nice! A pajama party!!

Good morning to Leaky and everyone!
I got very little sleep because I was really into my book last night. Today I will pay.

I expect to begin having anxiety attacks at some point today because I have an IEP meeting tomorrow(that's a meetig where little me sits at a table wih 628491078352873941793768 professionals that tell me all of my son's limitations for probably 2 hours, then spend maybe 5 minutes telling me what they plan to do to help). Looking forward to that, uh huh.

I love your little graphic, Hayes. :)

Okay, off to hunt coffee. Good luck at the dentist, Leaky.

I'm feeling some anxiety today because I have to take my daughter to gymnastics where last week she was heartbroken and sobbing because two of the girls wouldn't play with her following the class. They were so cruel that I even started crying. :-(

Wow, you'd think that "professionals" would be a bit more caring, and actually make more of an effort to not dwell on a child's supposed limitations, but rather on what can and is being done to help. I guess they've never heard of positive thinking and good communication skills. Good luck, Christine, and don't let these "experts" get you down. And, good luck at the dentist, Jeannette, I have an appointment next week and he wants to replace "all" of my old fillings, yuck.

My copy arrived in the mail Monday! I'm so excited. I have a few other books I have to get to first, but I'll be reading it before the end of June (I'm participating in a Sookie Stackhouse Challenge and it ends June 30th). I just wanted to have the book handy. Plus, Amazon was selling it for so cheap, I couldn't resist ordering it through them.

I want him to get more services. To get more services he needs a new evaluation. The people on the testing team seem very good (and nice), but it's just how these meetings are. They each have to report the deficits that they found. I just hate the process. That's why I am starting my panic attacks the day before.

Not that it helps, but my mom (as a teacher) stresses over them too. She doesn't find the process as useful as it could be.

I hope that things go better for your daughter today, that breaks my heart.

Wendy,
I know the evaluation team is just doing what evaluation teams do. I used to work as a school speech pathologist, and I hated the process then too. It would help if someone brought Jello shots.
