Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 529 comments I think I am still digesting the Thai food we had last night. It was delicious, and so filling!

We ate out because we were having new countertops installed. They look gorgeous, but cooking wasn't exactly facilitated by the situation last night, which was no kitchen sink and no stove top.

And our coffee maker has decided to leak. Time for a new one.

ANY excuse is a good one to go out for Thai food! :)

What type of countertops are you having installed? It sounds like you are getting granite or a solid surface.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 529 comments I think they are quartz? They are tan and grey and blue speckled. I really like them.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Well, since I got up later than planned this morning and had to rush and get ready to leave to meet my daughter, I didn't get to post before this evening. I didn't even have time to fix coffee this morning, and, miracle of all miracles, I survived until lunchtime without caffeine. I can't do that too often though. Of course, it was worth the sacrifice when Izzy looked up at me and smiled that gorgeous smile. I think that holding my eight-month-old granddaughter just might be the best feeling in the world, that and snuggling up with my 9-yr.-old granddaughter. I am absolutely gaga over the whole being a grandmother thing. When I manage to read over the instructions about posting picture here, I will post some. See you in the morning, ladies.

message 1756: by [deleted user] (new)

We would love to see some pictures Kathy! :)

message 1757: by [deleted user] (last edited Apr 27, 2010 11:10PM) (new)

That's so wonderful Kathy! Snuggling with babies is pretty cool... my son was (and still is at almost 13 yrs old, 5'7", size 9 1/2 shoes) a very snuggly baby.

He still comes up to me and gives me a hug and a kiss and puts his head on my shoulder... I wonder how long that will last? (Until he finds a girlfriend, right?)

message 1758: by [deleted user] (new)

Good morning greetings to everyone! Kathy, I would love to see pictures too! Glad that you had a nice day with them.

Hayes...my daughter is 14 and still huggy. I fear it will end soon, but I am enjoying it while I can. :)

My book didn't arrive yesterday so I plan to find my hiding spot in the largest tree with my stun gun. When I see the UPS guy he had better have a book for me or else. Not that I don't have enough to read, but I want that book. Ha.

Morning everyone!

Isn't it fun to pounce on the UPS man before he has a chance to knock! I'm always scaring the crap out of our guy.

message 1760: by [deleted user] (new)

I am debating my attack, Lee. If he tries to drive by without stopping then he's really gonna' have trouble.

Go for it! I need some new techniques so share if you come up with something good.

message 1762: by [deleted user] (new)

Good morning! You two are kind of scary this morning. UPS probably has your houses marked on their maps! :)

My daughter will still hug me in public, but she's too big to sit on my lap (she's my height now). I think that's what pepole love about grandkids: the chance to cuddle again.

Have a great day everyone! Be careful in that tree Christine!

message 1763: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (literaryfeline) Morning everyone! I hope you all have a great day today! I have no big plans today. Just the usual work. I left my book at the office last night and so wasn't able to read it like I wanted. I could kick myself for that. I ended up picking up a graphic novel my husband had set aside for me.

If you need a little laugh this morning picture me sitting at my desk at work, working hard, when suddenly I get hit in the head by a flying grapefruit. One of my coworkers had brought grapefruit to work yesterday and was tossing one to another coworker. She missed by several feet. We all burst out laughing, it was so funny. Neither the grapefruit nor I was hurt.

Must have been quite a shock!! Hope you like grapefruit ;-)

Christine... how'd it go with the UPS guy?

I'm glad that you cleared that up. I was worried about the grapefruit. ;)

It's still too early. He usually comes around noon. I have my camouflage on, as well as my night vision glasses (yes, I know it's light out at noon, but one can never be too careful). Dixie is covering me from a secret location in case he tries to pull something.

message 1769: by [deleted user] (new)

I think it's time to cut back on the caffeine, Christine!! lol (What an image -- you perched in a tree, dressed like a robin, packing a stun gun!)

message 1770: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (literaryfeline) Not long now, Christine! Don't forget to enlist the children in the mission too. It will be a good lesson in survival skills for them.

message 1771: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Whoa! I definitely need to get on here earlier. I guess I need to turn on the TV to see if there have been any attacks on UPS guys. Christine, we'll send you books in jail. LOL! And, then there are grapefruit missiles, too. Wendy, practice your ducking skills.

Oh, on the hugging kids. I think you either have a hugger or you don't, based on my experience. My son, who will be 23 in June, has always been a hugger (in public or private), like me, and doesn't show any signs of changing that behavior. My daughter, who is also very loving and a wonderful young woman (26), is just not a hugger. One hug and that should be enough for a visit. Of course, she does indulge me, as she knows I can't help myself. So, two great children raised by the same hugger and one turns out a hugger and one, not. Go figure.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads (susannag) | 529 comments I am reminded of the camouflage cotton baby yarn I saw today of knitting. Sounds like Christine needs some!

It's time Christine: what happened? Did you get your book without resorting to violence??

Uh oh, she's not back yet... maybe the UPS guy won...

message 1775: by [deleted user] (new)

She's probably reading the new book and munching on cupcakes -- without giving us a thought! :(

My internet went down for the majority of the day...AH! I think one of you tipped off the UPS guy because he had a sub today, haha! But lucky for the sub, he had my book. :)

ETA: I decided to arm myself with grapefruits, so he is fortunate that he had it.

Good morning comfy readers! TGIT (I like Thursdays, so I changed it)...plus, it's fun to say "tgit".

message 1786: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (literaryfeline) I love the sound of pumpkin muffins! Yum!

Christine, I'm glad you didn't have to resort to throwing cupcakes/muffins or grapefruits at the UPS person and that he relinquished your book without a fight.

I've got my eye on a few books that somehow made it into my shopping cart at Amazon. I know I shouldn't buy them, but it's so tempting . . .

I hope you all have a great morning! I'm feeling under the weather. Wish I could stay home in bed today, but duty calls and off to work I go.

message 1787: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm just curious: How do you all read so many books and watch tv and bake muffins and post to GR? I feel like it takes me forever to get through one book. Am I sleeping too much or just daydreaming, or spending too much time surfing? :)

Jeannette wrote: "I'm just curious: How do you all read so many books and watch tv and bake muffins and post to GR? I feel like it takes me forever to get through one book. Am I sleeping too much or just daydreami..."

Hmmm...I don't bake muffins. And I tend to have my book going while I watch tv. I do both at once (except for Survivor and Lost). And it's not like I watch tv all evening. Usually it's a just a little of the evening. Oh, and I read while I cook. And ummm...insomnia helps. Errr...I'm a freak, I have no idea how I do it.

ETA: Maybe you weren't talking to me. I'm on book #40 for the year at the moment, and I think that's well below others.

Christine wrote: "I'm on book #40 for the year at the moment, and I think that's well below others. ."

40! Wow, I'm impressed! I'm on #28 or 29, can't remember. I read moderately quickly, and squeeze a few extras in with audio books. I don't bake or watch TV, so there's no excuse, except for too much surfing.

message 1797: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Morning ladies. Pumpkin muffins? I guess I'm chiming in too late to get mine. LOL! Christine, I'm so glad you got your book and nobody had to die in the process, and you're on #40. WOW! I'm about where you are Hayes, have to look and see where in the 20's I am. I think my surfing, especially goodreads, does tend to interfere with my reading time, too. Wendy--buy the books, buy the books. Did you buy them? I have to go get ready for a lunch with the other two of my group we call the three amigos. Talk to you all later. Ta ta.

message 1798: by [deleted user] (new)

We've been watching an anime series for the last two weeks, which bumped our tv time way up. I have to sit somewhere quiet to read and I don't read in bed anymore, because I feel terrible the next day on 6 hours of sleep. hmmm I see a pattern here, so maybe I'm not just a newbie slacker? :) (Plus, I don't count each volume of manga that I consume in a day. I'm catching up!)

Good morning everyone! The muffin lady is here!

Here's the link to the recipe I use which I can heartily recommend for moist and delicious muffins. As I said last night my husband scarfed five down in 30 seconds and my daughter who is quite picky will eat them.

http://www.theppk.com/recipes/dbrecip...

I also leave out the cloves and allspice because I never have those spices.

Enjoy!
