I'm sorry, I was trying to find something a little more "nuanced". It was an interesting game and the Ravens D gave the Colts all the grief they could. Just too much bad luck and bad decisions (on the Ravens side) and a lot of desire and determination on the Colts side. The Colt's wide-receiver recovering that intercepted pass was amazing!

Hmmm...the only teams that I can't root for ever are Green Bay (due to the Bears), the Steelers (due to the Ravens) and the Colts (also the Ravens). I think I'll cheer on the Vikings now.
Well, that will make Green Bay doubly angry! xp

I think I can safely say that the Cowboys were severely beaten by Green Bay. Favre looked like a kid again! :)

Actually I'm a much bigger fan of college football.For me the big season starting nowabouts is college basketball.
ETA: About the Colts - yes, they play in Indianapolis, but they used to be the Baltimore Colts, and there are folks in Maryland who haven't forgiven the franchise for leaving town in the middle of the night!

What is everyone doing today? The kids have off, but they have dentist and doctor...they aren't happy with me for scheduling it that way. I'm hopefully going to finish my book in the waiting rooms. ;)

I'm working my way up to two at a time, but I don't enjoy it. I'm much better with just one book. I just need to read faster! lol

I can read only one novel at a time, but I can read short story books and definitely can read multiple non-fiction books at the same time.I'm often working on one novel and one or two non-fiction books at once.

My favorite thing about smoking is just possibly that at that moment when my future mother-in-law is just about to tip me over the edge, I can excuse myself to go outside :)

I stare at bookshelves. I even just stare at my bookshelves. My family thinks that I am headed for a breakdown when I do that, but I find it comforting.

Christine: Maybe my self-sarcasm didn't show thru enough... I stare at bookshelves all the time. I find it comforting too. I let my eyes go out of focus a little and find the patterns of color and size that leap out at me, which more often than not leads me to the book I was looking for!

When I was in second grade, I discovered the Hardy Boys series. Ever since, I've loved to read — both for fun and to improve my mind. And I'm always looking for the next great book. Reviews on Amazon and other sites are helpful, but I thought there might be a better way.
One afternoon while I was scanning a friend's bookshelf for my next great read, it struck me. When I want to know what books to read, I'd rather turn to a friend than any random person, bestseller list or algorithm. So I thought I'd build a website — a website where I could see my friends' bookshelves and learn about what they thought of all their books.
Goodreads is that site. It is a place where you can see what your friends are reading and vice versa. You can create "bookshelves" to organize what you've read (or want to read). You can comment on each other's reviews. And on this journey with your friends you can explore new territory, gather information, and expand your mind.

It's even more annoying, if you cannot dump the book you're reading because it's been assigned (oh, and if it's a classic, even criticising the book might be problematic, especially if the tome happens to be the personal favourite of the professor or instructor -- this hasn't happened to me often, but it has occurred).

Because, what's the use of analysing literature, if you are not allowed to voice unfavourable opinions if the work happens to be a classic ...
Oh my goodness! I step away for a few days and what did I miss - football talk!! Agh! Guess what I was doing while I was away - that's right, watching football!Yes, I'm a huge NFL fan, and a baseball fan,... and while in Ireland I became a soccer/football fan. I love sports, it's the only TV I can have on without going batty.
By the way - I got second place in my fantasy football league this year, beating fiance (third) and his best friend, who I knocked out of the playoffs :) (I have to brag this year because next year I could be in last place!).
Complete Green Bay Packers fan, by the way, but they got tromped on in the first playoff week. Now I'm rooting for anyone but the Vikings or the Jets. :)
By the way, Peregrine, I love your story about the day your niece was born! =)
Don't particularly like watching football, or most team sports. Funny story, when we first moved from Germany, I was all excited about playing "football" (well, I assumed that the former was soccer and was I ever surprised when someone threw this oblong ball at me and then mowed me over). I'll take a good clean (no fighting, or at least as little as possible) ice hockey game over football and baseball anytime, but while I was a real hockey fan in high school and college, watching sports simply does not interest me that much anymore (and there is too much cheating, fighting and what not going on).

Lee, I've been an Olympics junkie since I was a teen. And Vancouver is my favorite city. I'd be in heaven except I'm going to get even further behind with my reading!

Hayes, A friend told me about them at about the time D or E was published, I think. I caught up quickly and I've read them all as they've been available. I read U this fall when it came out. They get really interesting at J/K, and the last several have been really excellent overall.
This is the best of all comfort reads for me... just predictable enough, not really gory, well (enough) written... I love mysteries!
I love mysteries too and I also like ones that aren't too gory, such as Sue Grafton's. I have several series I really like. I've given up on some because they're too violent or too disturbing, such as Patricia Cornwell's; I read many of her books and finally stopped.
Know what you mean... if I want blood, gore and horror I read or watch the news! When I read I want mental exercise or mental relaxation.

I used to really enjoy watching football, but now I mostly start watching during playoffs or when there is a really interesting game, like Vikings vs. Green Bay this year. I grew up in Detroit, so I'm not a big Lions fan.
