Good morning comfies! I'm tired. That's it. That's my exciting news. Just a basic fatigue update for you. Aren't you glad that you logged on?

message 6852: by [deleted user] (new)

I think I'll go back to bed now.....

message 6853: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey, Christine! Did you get the email I sent for BJ? It was a Happy New Year's bunny.

message 6854: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes! I couldn't figure out how to reply because we opened it on my phone, but thanks!

message 6855: by [deleted user] (new)

All the Japanese is translated. And, I thought the bunny could pass for Easter, too.

message 6856: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments I haven't commented much on what I've been doing, but it's all been good. Youngest granddaughter, Izzy, was baptized Sunday. Husband was in and we had a great day with our family and son-in-law's. Yesterday, I outdrove a tornado, so that was good. LOL! We've been having rain, rain, rain and tornado watches and warnings for a week around here. Yesterday, it was supposed to be okay until yesterday evening, so I drove an hour south to visit my son in college and take him out to lunch. On the way back, I was about half an hour from home and encountered rain. Looking over to my left, I spied a funnel cloud (not too large of one, like that would make a big difference). The SUV in front of me was driving on, as were other cars, so I just hunkered down and drove through heavy rain, coming out the other side to clear weather when I got home. ( Heavy rain again last night and raining now.) When I saw the funnel, I switched from Sirius radio to local station and, yep, I was in the worst weather zone of the entire state and funnel clouds had been spotted in the area. I guess it takes the cloud being right in front of me to head for a ditch, but I did arrive home safe and sound (well, the sound part might be questionable).

message 6857: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow! It is always best to get out of the car and head for lower ground, or other shelter. I wonder how close the funnel would have to be for me to do that!?! (I am glad to have not had the experience.) I have seen video of twisters tossing cars, trucks about like toys. Always better to seek shelter somewhere, I guess.

I'm glad you're okay, Kathy! How frightening...

message 6858: by [deleted user] (new)

Kathy!! How scary! What an experience, yikes. I'm glad that you are okay.

message 6859: by Manybooks (new)

Manybooks Kathy, that was/is scary. I guess you will not want to watch the movie "Twister" for a while. Wow, I am glad it was just a small funnel cloud, but still ...

message 6860: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments I didn't really feel in imminent danger, as it seemed to be pretty far off to the left. I thought about getting out in the rain and getting in the muddy ditch, and my instinct to flee won out. Probably not the smartest action, but it ended well.

message 6861: by [deleted user] (new)

It is really hard to actually stop the car and lie down in a ditch in a lightening storm! I hope I never have to make such a decision! Glad you're okay. :)

Dixie has been excited about the royal wedding. She has posted her thoughts: http://divadixie.blogspot.com/

I took her for a walk this morning and as soon as I was about as far away as I could be, it started pouring. And it was that cold, windy pouring. We were a mess by the time we got home.

How is everyone else this morning?

message 6865: by Manybooks (new)

Manybooks There's a lot of wind this morning and the power has been off for about three hours already (I'm on the last gasps of my laptop battery, when that's gone, goodbye internet until power is returned). There are quite a few trees down, but it's nothing compared to the devastating tornadoes south of the border, so I really should not complain.

message 6866: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 286 comments Our weather is overcast and slightly cooler then the last few days were. The clouds do look ominous though so hopefully it isn't going to rain. Gundula hope your power comes back soon. No fun without things like lights or internet.

message 6867: by [deleted user] (new)

It is actually nice here (should I admit that). I planted onions and broccoli in my garden yesterday. It is still chilly.

I'm waiting to hear from a GR friend who lives in AL. I would guess she doesn't have any power right now, either. Awful tornadoes this year!

I hope Dixie isn't miffed that she didn't get an invite. She could keep Tony Blair company.

message 6868: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm having a royal wedding party tomorrow with some friends and my daughter - at the moment it is soooo windy I hope the power and/or TV signal doesn't go out, wouldn't want to miss it! Oh well, the champagne will still be just fine.

I hope your power does not go off, mine was off for more than eight hours today (just came back on and I'm keeping my fingers crossed). Hope you have a fun party tomorrow, regardless of the weather.

Maude wrote: "Christine, I just LOVE Dixie, the Diva Dog's blog!! and Dixie, too!"

She thanks you!

message 6872: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Of course Dixie didn't get an invite. She would be the center of attention if she attended. LOL! Shelley, what a fun idea to have a royal wedding party! I haven't decided if I'm getting up at 4 or not.

A note of the weather. I may have to just stay at home. Tuesday was the funnel cloud on the way home from seeing my son. Today on the way home from my daughter's, I ran into hail storm after hail storm for about 25 minutes. Gee, what the heck?

message 6873: by Lance (new)

Lance Greenfield (lancegreenfieldmitchell) | 697 comments Just sitting at home watching the Royal Wedding. It is wonderful and makes me proud to be British. I find it difficult to imagine such a majestic occasion occuring anywhere else in the world.

The bride, HRH Duchess of Cambridge now, looks absolutely stunning.

There are thousands of street parties and house parties taking place in the United Kingdom today, and it is a national public holiday. I shall be celebrating with a bacon buttie, complete with English mustard, and a bottle of Old Peculiar (great English ale).

Lance wrote: "Just sitting at home watching the Royal Wedding. ..."

And they're playing "Jerusalem". Always makes me cry!

message 6875: by [deleted user] (new)

I am also watching. I should be getting ready to leave for the baby's house. Yikes! I guess I'll skip the make-up and go with a wet ponytail.

message 6876: by Lance (new)

Lance Greenfield (lancegreenfieldmitchell) | 697 comments Wow! That's almost like hitting the streets naked! You wouln't catch me going out without my lippy.

Seriously, I wonder how many people are really watching this live around the world. I heard that there were complaints from some fols in the USA about the time of the wedding and how little consideration was given to their timezones. I don't believe that anyone actually made that complaint though, do you?

That's amazing. You are an American living in Italy and Jerusalem makes you cry. I wonder why. Good for you though.

The tune "Dark Island" played by a lone piper always makes me cry. My Highlands roots on my Mum's side, I suppose.

What, did theses people think that William and Kate should have gotten married in the middle of the night so that we in North America could watch this at a more convenient time? How rude and how utterly unenlightened ...

message 6879: by Lance (new)

Lance Greenfield (lancegreenfieldmitchell) | 697 comments 11 am is the correct time for a major church service, and that's the way it is.

Anyway, I cannot believe that anyone actually made a complaint of that nature. We all know that newspaper journalists have very creative imaginations!

Exactly, most weddings, at least church weddings, happen from between 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM (at the very latest). You might be right about this being a fiction spread by the press, I certainly would not put it past them. I just hope that the paparazzi etc. will leave the couple alone and allow them to live their lives, sigh.

Google's front page has been drawn to honor the Royal Wedding.

message 6889: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) I watched live. For me, in my time zone, it didn't mean getting up early but staying up.

She is lovely. They're both gorgeous and sweet.

It went off without a hitch! Except it looked as though he had a hard time getting the ring on her finger?

The dress was amazing.

These are classy and genuinely nice people who are in love and I think their odds are good, just as good at least as any other couple getting married. I hope it lasts and I hope they have the kids they want.

I'm glad I stayed up! Very touching, everything about it.

I haven't heard any complaints about the time zone thing. I know that a lot of Chicago people were happy that they got to watch before work.

message 6893: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm off to a charity walk/run. I'm walking 5K with the girls. The other mom & my hubby are running. Hoping it doesn't rain!

Have a great weekend everybody.

Christine -- I want to set up a discussion thread about "Mom" later today. I thought about that book last night!

message 6894: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Jeannette, what a great activity for today! I wish I could work up to that. Maybe someday. I may just be lazy and read today. This past week has been busy, so I'm telling myself I need a reading day. Of course, that doesn't mean I won't do some laundry and small things. Do women ever just get to do nothing? LOL! Hope everyone gets to do something just for them this weekend.

message 6895: by [deleted user] (new)

I hear you, Kathy! I told myself that I would enjoy some reading today as well, but I've been in the basement and garage since first thing this morning. And I'm dying to get back to my book!! Jeannette, I hope that your walk goes well with no bad weather!

message 6896: by [deleted user] (new)

Definitely we will have to have a thread for this book!

I've just put a hold on the book at the library but it looks like I won't get it for about 6 to 8 weeks. I can't wait to read it!
