Me, too! I brought in bunches of daffodils from the garden this week. And now the tulips are blooming. :)

Hi comfies,
The other day's headache was obviously not a regular headache...I was getting sick. Yesterday I had zero energy and sat like a big germy blob and read my book. Today I still feel like a germy blob, but I have some energy. I soooo want to get out and work in my yard so I hope this passes quickly.
Signed,
Your somewhat energetic blob, Christine

Oh no, do you think it was the "delayed" plane virus?? I hope you're feeling better today and that the rest of the family does not get sick. You should really give your immune system a good jump start, especially now that spring is around the corner (you seem to get far too many of these little germ-a-thons and you should be taking care of yourself and pampering yourself).

Good morning Comfy Buddies (and s e Blob)!

I was outside yesterday, and was almost defeated by a malicious rose bush. But, the dead branches are in the bin, and there is only a tiny blood stain on my glove! Today I'm going shopping with the girl. The next month will be busy with birthday parties, commencement and Open House. So, if you notice I'm missing, I hope it means I'm getting something done for the Lea-thon of Celebrations! ;D

Get better soon, woman! Enough of the germiness!

message 6755: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, the celebrations! How cool! I hope that you'll be taking 74536502569775612750039 pictures to show us!

Gundula, this wasn't the plane virus. I caught it from the baby that I take care of. She was sick last week and you know babies, they never cover their mouths when they cough, haha. I knew I would probably get it, but at least it's not a stomach thing.

Dixie has the vet today, the daughter has the orthodontist and physical therapy, and I want to stop and look at the garden center. That should tap my energy for the day.

Signed- S.E. Blob

I'm glad it was not the stomach thing. With all of these errands to run today, you really should give yourself some sort of a treat either while out and about or when you get home. I had a tonne of errands to run yesterday, besides a driving lesson and a mega-session (enlightening, but also wearing) with my therapist (I have to figure out who I am and strip that away from me I have added to please or to try to please, unsuccessfully, my family). I'm supposed to be doing some research on the internet for university transcripts today, but after having been on hold with both my undergraduate and graduate university for 30 minutes each, I gave up; I'll try again tomorrow (my boyfriend and I want to perhaps take some courses this summer at McMaster, but they want to see my undergraduate and graduate transcripts).

message 6757: by [deleted user] (new)

I think I have enough memory on my camera for at least that many pictures!

Gundula -- I would think you could send a request for transcripts via the Uni's website. Go to the main page and search for transcripts. Waiting on the phone is a major pain!

I know, but my internet is being really slow today. And with my undergraduate transcripts I need to phone, I cannot remember my student number.

message 6759: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Oh my! The blood (Jeannette), the sick (Christine), and the busy (Gundula)! Makes me want to curl up with a book and some coffee and do nothing. LOL! I had a busy errand day yesterday, too, Gundula, and I'm trying to decide if I want to take a couple of classes this summer. In order to renew my libray media masters certification for the schools, I'm supposed to have 6 hours by next September. Since I haven't been able to find a job in the school library field or other libraries, I may let it lapse. Not sure yet. A friend wants me to write a book with her, which would probably be as productive as anything else. I just had to lose my certification. I'm not sure, though, what I would take courses in, as I don't really want to pursue a doctorate's. I can't put off deciding much longer.

On the more positive side, I am planning a trip to Mt. Rushmore, hopefully next month, with my husband.

Be sure to wave when if pass through Iowa, Kathy! I'm going out again later to fight with Nature. The weather is holding -- for now.

It looks like our route will take us through Sioux City or by it. How close are you to that? I never can remember where people are.

message 6762: by [deleted user] (new)

We are just north of Des Moines, in Ames. If you come across 80, you will be about 45 minutes south of me! :)

message 6763: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey comfies! It cold and rainy here -- good weather for reading (or napping). I hope nobody got hit by those nasty storms yesterday. It's always something.

Anyone have any exciting plans for the weekend??

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Jeannette wrote: "Anyone have any exciting plans for the weekend?? "

I'm so boring. Book club, and maybe dinner tomorrow night. AND, staying off Goodreads and reading is my goal. We'll see if I can spend more time reading than playing on Goodreads.

message 6765: by [deleted user] (new)

I always say I'm going to do that, too, Lisa. That's why it takes so long for me to read a book sometimes. Enjoy!

message 6773: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey, where's old S E Blob today? Are you still ailing?

message 6774: by [deleted user] (new)

S.E. Blob checking in. I have been without a computer for a couple of days so I have been focusing on getting ready for our neighborhood garage sale. My basement is a scary place, even for a blob.

message 6775: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, another thing that has occupied WAY too much of my weekend.....my sister got an iPhone for her birthday and has sent me over 150 text messages since last night. And she keeps sending random pictures that she is taking with her phone. I even got one of her foot. No reason given, just her foot.

message 6776: by [deleted user] (new)

Christine, I just got a new phone too - maybe I could send you some photos of the family of raccoons that have moved into my attic.

150 text messages, wow. She is chatty!

message 6777: by [deleted user] (new)

She has never had text ability before. Hopefully the novelty will go away soon, haha.

message 6778: by [deleted user] (new)

Funny! :D

If I ever learn to text, I'll send both of you some fascinating messages, accounts of my daily activities...

ORLY?

message 6781: by [deleted user] (new)

Good morning, comfies! I cannot believe that it is snowing right now! And, it's mixed with rain, that is all freezing on the streets. The one day I have lunch plans. I really will be happy to see the last of winter.

I hope it's nicer where everyone else is. Enjoy the day!

message 6782: by [deleted user] (last edited Apr 19, 2011 08:36AM) (new)

It's horrible here...rain, ice, cold. Blech! Of course, just north of me in Wisconsin they are expecting major snow. Poor cheesheads.

I have to be out all day starting in about an hour. Perfect day for it, right Jeannette? Don't you just love Springtime!?

message 6783: by [deleted user] (new)

Poor frozen cheese curds! I know it is supposed to be this nasty, but those 80 degree days in the middle sure make this seem more miserable. I'm only going out for the free lunch! lol

message 6784: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Well, the weather here is not snowy or cold, but we have a severe weather watch for tonight, which includes rain, hail, strong winds and/or tornadoes. In view of the hard hit areas I've been reading about, I'm sure hoping that we don't get that level of storm and destruction. Worst part is that the prime hours for the severe stuff is during sleeping hours. I usually don't get scared, but I am a little concerned about this system, especially if it mimics the earlier one.

message 6785: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 286 comments This is Spring right? I keep asking myself that as we have fog and snow coming down. Then it is sunny out with snow coming down. Strange weather to say the least. Hope everything by passes you Kathy!

message 6786: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Thanks, Brenda. I'm hoping it passes without incident, too. I have about 2 or 3 hours before the time frame for the intense weather starts. The snow must be getting old by now. I was tired of it in February. Hope those of you who are still having to deal with the white stuff will see an end to it soon, as in immediately.

message 6787: by [deleted user] (new)

Snow went away! Still cold and rainy. I hope the tornadoes don't come anywhere near anyone, especially my comfy buddies.

message 6788: by [deleted user] (new)

Kathy, how was your night?

message 6789: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Christine wrote: "Kathy, how was your night?"

We dodged the bullet. Some funnel cloud sightings, thunderstorms, and high winds, but we got through it all here unscathed.

message 6791: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 286 comments Glad to hear it Kathy! We had some rather loud thunder and lightening with small hail come down but it only lasted a few minutes. Today is bright and sunny go figure!

message 6792: by [deleted user] (new)

Good to hear, Kathy! The snow is gone, and I've seen the sun. It's still a bit cool today, but it's dry.

message 6793: by [deleted user] (last edited Apr 21, 2011 04:01AM) (new)

Good morning comfies! My kids have a half day of school today and no school tomorrow so we are almost in weekend mode. I've been preparing for the garage sale, and am I making progress? No. Why? Because I spend hours in the basement finding things and cleaning them up...wonderful, right? Then I bring them up to the garage and Benjamin rediscovers them and takes them back into the house to keep. Errrr...So basically my house is getting more and more full of old junk.

ETA: I have about 60 books so far to sell, and that has been like choosing which children to sell off. Yikes.

message 6794: by [deleted user] (new)

Sell the kid who keeps bringing stuff back into the house! ;)

message 6795: by Manybooks (new)

Manybooks Jeannette wrote: "Sell the kid who keeps bringing stuff back into the house! ;)"

That's mean, but funny, lol. And I can understand Benjamin, although I know it must be frustrating for Christine. I'm a bit of a hoarder myself, especially books. And more often than not, if I do get around to going through book boxes and getting rid of books, selling them, giving them away etc., I often later need precisely those books and end up having to buy them again.

message 6796: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, everyone knows I don't seriously want Christine to sell Benjamin! *I hope*

My daughter and I just went through her closets in preparation for her starting college. I told her we should do it now, because I wouldn't be able to if I had to do it alone, after she had moved away! Benjamin is at the right age to be sentimental about stuff and/or to think something is still worth having.

I know, I was just, you know, trying to be funny. I think it's better that you and your daughter went through her closets together, that way, she also has input and can say "no" if certain objects are really sentimental for her. But Benjamin is maybe like my mother's sister, who does not want to throw anything away (I think she has stacks of newspapers from the 50s in the basement).

message 6798: by [deleted user] (new)

I was trying to be funny back! Sorry, if I came across as im Ernst!

My daughter is a bit of a packrat, too. She had a bug made out of pipe cleaners and Styrofoam balls that lasted until this year. I kept at her, and this year we laughed as we tossed some really odd, and old, stuff.

I'm not only a packrat, but an unorganised packrat. And then I get the urge to (or feel the urge) to clean house and I usually end up tossing out papers etc. that are actually important, yikes :-)

I just finished doing my taxes and one room is now full of paper. I'm resisting the urge to throw it all in the garbage even though quite a lot of it is garbage and old advertisements etc., because I know that in between the junk, there is likely paperwork I still might need. So I closed the door and will likely do it sometime in the future (or maybe it will just go away on its own, not).

message 6800: by Maude (new)

Maude | 479 comments Jeanette, Re "sell the kid" etc., - Very LOL funny!
I can be a total pack rat myself and, in fact, am trying to do my spring cleaning and getting rid of stuff (hopefully!).
