Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Thanks, Joy, Gundula, Jeannette, and Brenda, and Christine again.

Of course, both Lee and I know that it's you members that are the biggest factor that make this group so successful. We have a wonderful group of people here!!!

You should look at her new blog post...she looks ridiculous.

Can't. Sleep. Also can't make sentences apparently.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's awake early. Been having some strange dreams lately and always waking up at 5:30 A.M. Maybe I can get some reading done, thinking about reality is a pain. But, the Jean Little book I'm reading, The Belonging Place is great (I know I should put this in the "currently reading" thread), but I'm too lazy.

message 5910: by [deleted user] (new)

Me too, the dream thing (sentences are still not coming together here, haha). I had a weird one where my basement was full of penguins, and I couldn't get any of them to stop waddling long enough to read their collars and figure out where they lived. So I made them peanut butter sandwiches. What does that even mean????

No idea, I usually don't remember all that much from my own dreams unless I actually write them down, but lately they've included annoying family members (you know, the ones who keep insisting I visit them in Germany, but "without" my boyfriend) and houses with millions of chaotic rooms (one of them even had a subway line, yikes). And, I can never find anything, especially books and/or the bathroom (thankfully, that has not lead to any "accidents"). Did the penguins enjoy the PBS (ha,ha)?

message 5912: by [deleted user] (new)

I don't remember, haha! I do remember that one of the penguins was wearing a t-shirt. It said "Hate The Spiders". It was so weird.

message 5913: by Manybooks (new)

Wow, that was weird. Were you watching any type of movie or TV program before going to bed? When I watched Amélie a few days ago, the garden gnome that appeared in the movie somehow ended up in my dream (but, that is the only part of the dream I remembered).

message 5914: by [deleted user] (new)

No, I was reading my book for hours before I went to bed. No penguins or spiders were involved. I can't make sense of it.

Maybe just as well, I don't know if I always want to make sense of my dreams (my BF always tells me to write down my dreams, most of the time I forget, but some of the time, I'd rather not write them down anyhow, too weird and strange at times). Hope the penguins stay away or at least don't wear spider t-shirts anymore.

message 5916: by [deleted user] (new)

Wow, I have no idea how to interpret a basement full of penguins! That's a weird one.

I hope everyone else slept a lot sounder, and longer. :)

So glad to hear someone else has strange dreams. This one is a doozy, Christine. Penguins with T-shirts that read Hate the Spiders and feeding them peanut butter sandwiches--too, too funny. Thanks for sharing that, Christine.

Maude | 479 comments Christine, What a rich, innovative brain you have. I loved the penguins and the peanut butter!! If you are going to have a dream you remembered, it is best to have an intersting one.

Brenda | 286 comments Sounds like the book Mr. Popper's Penguins meets PBJ sandwich meets spiders. It does sound pretty creative.

message 5921: by [deleted user] (new)

I wonder what Mr. Popper would have thought of their t-shirts? lol

In the book I am reading, Left Neglected by Lisa Genova , the woman is having weird dreams. Well, I think her weird dreams are having an impact on my weird dreams because one of her dream components was in my last night dream. No penguins this time, but (like her) I was on the show Survivor. I do remember that I brought a toaster with me. Sounds like something I would do.

I don't often have specific dreams about books I am reading (just general ones), but I have had dreams about movies, and often combine movies with my reality. Once, when I was younger and still lived in Germany, we had watched some Western before going to bed. The next day, we were supposed to drive to Switzerland to go skiing, and I somehow combined downhill skiing with the Western; it was really quite funny, cowboys in full western gear, downhill skiing (this dream happened when I was about eight, and I still remember it vividly, it was so weird and funny).

In my effort to not buy as many books, I have this one on hold at the library. I'm third on the list. I thought Lisa Genova's first book, Still Alice, was so good that I'm looking forward to this one.

Good morning, comfies! Got up and shoveled snow for an hour today! Does that count for my power chick workout?

message 5929: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 286 comments I certainly counted it when we had lots if snow. Good morning to you too.

message 5930: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Shoveling snow should definitely count. We finally received some snow here, just a couple of inches so far. The weatherman has been back and forth for the last several days trying to pinpoint when we'd get some. It was very pretty when I took my Abbie dog out for her early morning walk today. She loves the snow.

message 5931: by [deleted user] (new)

We've been getting very "dry" snow this winter. At night, all the lawns glitter in the street lights, like a Christmas card.

I babysat all day so I just saw this. Yessiree, that does count indeedio! Go Jeannette!

message 5933: by [deleted user] (new)

I wanna go beat up a cow now! (a rhyme!)

message 5934: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm babysitting tomorrow so I'm saying, "good morning comfies!" now. Be careful in that snow, Kathy! Jeannette, power on girl! I have been super good counting my WW points, but I missed walking or working out today.

Lee, I need to check your blog for some recipes. I am desperate for something new.

I got on the treadmill after hearing the Rocky theme. :D

The snow has stopped and now comes the below zero temps for the next few days. I am staying inside! Mr Dogboy walks out about 4 houses, does his biz, and then drags me home when it gets this cold. Smart animal!

Oh man! You are so good!

message 5937: by [deleted user] (new)

You've inspired me - I WILL get back on my treadmill.
I'm more like Mr. Dogboy. We would get along very well.

message 5938: by [deleted user] (new)

Go for it, Shelly! Even if it is about as exciting as watching paint dry....

Mr. Dogboy sleeps most of the day (he's 15 now), but he's pretty peppy when it's time for lunch. He hates the cold, but likes snow! :)

Good afternoon comfies! We had a ton of snow last night and it's the dry sparkling kind too Christine. Of course, we were out driving in the storm because I had my first haircut appointment since last spring. I look like a different person and woke up with the most phenomenal bed head! The girl used something called root lifter on me which seems to be strangely enhanced by the way I slept. I'm just praying no one knocks on my door before I can get in the shower!

message 5940: by [deleted user] (new)

You drive in a blizzard and then wake up with bedhead -- you have all the fun, Lee!

I see that all the snow we got on Monday has made its way East. Now it's just cold, with more cold to come. We're gonna make waffles for dinner and stay inside. :)

I had a few things to do yesterday morning, so I was luckily home by the time the snow really came pounding down. I have not been out today, but my driveway looks like a downhill ski-slope with powder (I have a really steep driveway). I hope no one (except for cars with snow tires and a four-wheel drive) tries to get up my driveway, because they will definitely get stuck.

Oh, by the way, I caught and flagged a spam message in the "romantic suspense" thread this afternoon. Wow, I flagged it, and it was removed by Goodreads within minutes. Kind of sad that this has happened, though, I was hoping this group would be immune from this sort of thing.

Joy | 314 comments Speaking of weird dreams - last night I dreamt that the Mad Men actor Jon Hamm was in my house looking at the bookshelves in my den! I woke up before I could say anything to him - darn!

Thanks for the catch Gundula.

Joy, I'm still waiting for season one of Mad Men from the library!

Dad's away so we can play! :D And, it's just too dang cold. And, my FIL and my brother both seem to be on the mend, which makes things even better.

You're welcome. At first I wasn't sure, but he was offering a free book giveaway, which really does not belong in this group (and certainly not in the theme sections). I hope he does not try again.
