Good morning comfies! I have tons to do today, but I broke my toe yesterday and I'm not getting around as quickly as I want to. Maybe I will settle here later to chat. :)

message 5602: by [deleted user] (new)

How did you break your toe??

message 5603: by [deleted user] (new)

Jeannette wrote: "How did you break your toe??"

I'm an idiot, that's how. I was rushing around yesterday and managed to accidentally kick a wall just so. I'm such a dork.

message 5604: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Oh Christine, sorry to hear about your toe. Sounds like something I'd do. I bruise easily and constantly have bruises on my legs from running into things. Maybe you can take advantage of your broken toe and take it easy, as if that's possible.

message 5605: by [deleted user] (new)

Ouch! You broke the big toe? Any toe is painful; be careful! Cupcake haiku to follow.....

message 5606: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 286 comments Christine hope your toe is better soon!

message 5607: by [deleted user] (new)

I broke the pinky toe (don't ask me how I kicked that one into it...I have no idea), but yes it is broken. At the moment my pinky toe is about as big as my big toe.

message 5608: by [deleted user] (new)

I broke my pinky toe a long time ago. And, it is always the toe I stub. It bends out at a funny angle now, too. :p

Don't call yourself a dork, or klutzy, stuff like this happens. Take it easy and tell the wall that you are going to sue it (ha, ha, ha). I hope you went to the doctor, I know someone who did not go to the doctor for her broken toe and it took ages to heal.

message 5610: by [deleted user] (new)

I wasn't planning to go to the doctor. What can they do for a pinky toe?

message 5611: by Manybooks (new)

Manybooks Christine wrote: "I wasn't planning to go to the doctor. What can they do for a pinky toe?"

Well, they might put a small splint on it, so that it heals straight.

message 5612: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 286 comments Tape it to the other toes maybe.

message 5613: by [deleted user] (new)

I did tape it, Brenda, thanks. Gundula, I'm cracking up at the idea of a pinky toe splint. I may go into the doctor now though.

message 5614: by [deleted user] (new)

Well, it might only be jammed, which means no break. Either way it hurts like hell. I don't remember that they did anything to my toe. Let us know.

Don't sue inanimate objects, lol!!

message 5615: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) I broke my toe, badly, when I was 13. At the time they did nothing. If they can do something I'd advise it. For 5 years it was swollen and black & blue and painful; I thought that it would never heal. but finally, when I was about 18, it went back to seemingly normal. But, if taping had hastened the process, I'd have preferred that!

Happy Birthday, Lee! I didn't know I missed your birthday.

Lovely picture, Laura! Did we wish you a happy birthday last month? Hope both your birthdays were lovely.

To have a swollen and bruised toe for five years must have been horrible, Lisa. I'm glad that it finally got better. Christine, you should go to the doctor, even if nothing can be done, he/she should take a look at it.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments I haven't been keeping up with birthdays either, Gundula. Shame on me. Happy birthday, Lee!

Laura, thank you for the beautiful photo and thanks to everyone else for the birthday wishes. Jeannette is right, I'm not on the birthday page.
I made myself a yummy lemon cake with lemon buttercream frosting last night to celebrate! Christine I will eat an extra big slice for your poor wee toe. Did you go to the doctor?

message 5623: by [deleted user] (new)

Happy Birthday Lee! I love lemon cake, and with lemon buttercream frosting...even better.

message 5624: by [deleted user] (new)

I couldn't get an appointment today. I taped it up though, and I'll see how it looks tomorrow.
Happy Happy Belated Birthday Miss Lee! You are an awesome group mama, and we love you!

message 5625: by [deleted user] (new)

Christine, that toe sounds painful. About a year and a half ago, my husband stubbed his toe very badly and he went to see a doctor. They didn't do anything for him, no splint, wrapping, or x-ray - they just said oh you broke your toe. After limping around literally for months..he went to have it x-rayed and they found it wasn't even the toe that was broken but a little bone where the toe meets the foot, and he should have been in a walking cast. Toes and feet are very tricky!

message 5626: by [deleted user] (new)

Ah! Now that would not be good!

Lee (leekat) | 3959 comments Mod
Wow Shelley, your poor husband. Is his toe okay now?

Christine, you make sure they check that properly! And I love being this group's mama. It's a joy!

message 5628: by Lisa (new)

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Yep, even when you go to the doctor's they can miss stuff. I have a friend who stepped off a curb hard and hurt her foot. It was x-rayed, etc. and they said it was fine, no break. After months and several appointments they finally figured out that it was broken. She was in a walking cast for what seems like a long time, definitely longer than 6 weeks. But, it's still better to go to the doctor and try to get it checked.

That might get messy, Kathy, lol. But, I'm drooling too.

message 5633: by Kathy (new)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments I did just have a piece (okay, a piece and a half) of zucchini bread and some French-vanilla coffee. Of course, some buttercream frosting would have been even better, on anything.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 1853 comments Jeannette, I'm often behind on computer shorthand. What does ;P mean? I just recently figured out IMHO, so you know I need help with it.

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) Kathy wrote: "Jeannette, I'm often behind on computer shorthand. What does ;P mean? I just recently figured out IMHO, so you know I need help with it."

Ha! I think it's a face simultaneously winking and sticking out its tongue. Correct?

I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I just recently figured out what lol means, but there is still a lot I don't know.

message 5641: by Maude (new)

Maude | 479 comments Well, I have to admit that I don't know what LOL means either Gundula. Is it Lots of Lock, Lots of Love, Look out Lucille, Leaps on Lions???? There are a lot of those little additives that I have no clue.

Maude | 479 comments What does IMHO mean?

message 5643: by Brenda (new)

Brenda | 286 comments we have laugh out loud (lol) and in my humble opinon ( IMHO) but I am guessing! I still get lost sometimes :)

message 5644: by [deleted user] (new)

rofl (rolling on the floor laughing). Brenda is correct, and Lisa wins the prize for the winking face, with the tongue stuck out.
:D (happy face)
XP (squinting)
<3 (a sideways heart)
:3 (another silly face).

I have a teenager. There are zillions of these things out there!

message 5645: by Maude (new)

Maude | 479 comments Well, thanks everyone!! I really should have asked sooner! I do like rofl a lot. But I don't understand the connection between XP and squinting.

message 5646: by [deleted user] (new)

the X is the eyes, squeezed together, and the P is the tongue. So, it is a very serious laugh.

Here is one link for internet shorthand http://www.netlingo.com/acronyms.php

There is also a link on their for the smileys. You'll see it in the upper right corner.

message 5648: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks, Christine. I'll have to look at these.

So, how's the toe?

message 5649: by [deleted user] (new)

Jeannette, the toe isn't broken, it's sprained (errr....I thought that was the same thing when you are talking about a toe?). And the is "nothing to really do". So I'm just doing nothing except watch it turn different colors and shapes. :)

message 5650: by [deleted user] (new)

Sprain means there are no broken bones, that's all. It still hurts like the dickens, I bet! Wear slippers in the house -- it really protects the toes. :)
