Hi-I guess I never introduced myself but I've been a goodreads member for about 2 months. I just signed up for this club a few days ago. I have the same interest in WWII that Maude explained:looking for how the characters feel, how they react to some of those difficult situations that happen during war time. I'm enjoying this discussion but I'm trying to read my book at the same time!
Hi, I'm Amy. Couldn't resist your group...who doesn't love a comfort read? As many, many people have pointed out, my favorite -- To Kill A Mockingbird -- is a wonderful book. And with the 50th anniversary of its publication last week, it's a great time to read/re-read it. I'm looking forward to great suggestions!
Hello, Sue. Thanks for officially introducing yourself, and welcome to this group!Hi, Amy, Welcome!!! Ooh, a 50th anniversary edition of To Kill a Mockingbird?! I still have my early 1960s paperback edition. I'll bet there are some interesting extras in the 50th anniversary edition. Thanks for that info.
Welcome Gokce, Amy and Sue! Sue, we will have to discuss WWII and some good WWII books soon. Enjoy your book.
Wow, we had a busy day yesterday. Sorry I'm late to welcome our three new members gokce, Amy and Sue!
Hi everyone, I have been in the group a little over a month now, and on GR for a few years. I apologize for taking so long to introduce myself......paper writing has gotten in the way.
I am a mom to two grown boys......... oldest is 21 who acts like he is 12 at times and still trying to "find his place in the world", youngest is 18 who acts like he is 40, he is a freshman in college.... least I have one who is using his brain.
I am an RN and work as a clinical coordinator/care manager/resident physician baby sitter/attending physician devil's advocate/nurse educator/gate keeper at a major teaching university. I am also in graduate school working on my doctorate...which has caused my delay in introducing myself....one year down, two to go!! Yey!
I love to read between semesters and during them as I can. My favorite comfort reads are anything by Jane Austen or James Patterson...... I know, totally opposite ends of the spectrum, but I like variety. :)
Hi Kat, welcome to the group! It sounds like you lead a very busy life both at work and at home. I bet you really appreciate a great comfort read.
I must be one of the few people who have never read a James Patterson book. I hope you have been enjoying all the conversations going on here.

Welcome to the group, Kat. It's nice to meet you. I hope that you're enjoying the group, and I hope we'll be able to help you find some more good comfort reads. Jump in and participate whenever you have the time and inclination.

Hello! My name is Heidi and I'm a librarian. (Recently moved from adult reference to youth services.) One of my very favorite comfort reads is L.M. Montgomery's "The Blue Castle."
Hi Heidi. Welcome to the group. We have other The Blue Castle fans here already! Look around and have fun.

Hello all, my name is Marissa. I just happened to stumble upon this group, but loved the name! I am a big comfort reader and I am constantly trying to find that next book to add to my comfort shelf. As of right now some of the books I never get tired of are Ella Enchanted, the Harry Potter series (although I particularly like book 3, 4, and 7), The Song of the Lioness Quartet, Pride and Prejudice, and Persuasion. Ella Enchanted is by far my favorite and the first book I've ever had to replace due to use. :) I've been reading it since 5th grade...I'm now 22.
Hi Marissa! I think I'll have to re-read Ella Enchanted now. :) I definitely plan to re-read the Deathly Hallows before the movie comes out. Welcome to the group!
Welcome Marissa! I haven't read Ella Enchanted yet but a few people here have mentioned it as a favourite. I hope you find many more comfort reads with us.
Marissa wrote: "the Harry Potter series (although I particularly like book 3, 4, and 7)"Marissa, I particularly like books 1, 3, & 7.
Marissa wrote: "The Song of the Lioness Quartet"I just noticed that Tamora Pierce is a Goodreads member author.
All this talk about Ella Enchanted is making me want to read it again. It was definitely one of my favorite books when I was younger. Now I just have to figure out where my copy is...
Hello~ :) Looking forward to finding some new favorites here. I like funny books and quirky, endearing characters. My favorite book in this regard is A Nameless Witch by A. Lee Martinez. During the holiday season, I usually read The Stupidest Angel: A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror, Version 2.0 by Chris Moore (title says it all).
Hi KV, Glad you found us. Welcome to the group. I hope you find some wonderful comfort read books in our threads and on our bookshelves.
Hello KV!!! Glad you joined the group! I'm sure you'll be able to find so many new favorites in this group!
Hi everyone! You all sound like a nice bunch who love to read too! My favorite comfort read is anything by Rosamunde Pilcher, I'm so sad she retired from writing 10 years ago. The Shell Seekers is the best!
Welcome to the group, Merty. Hopefully, we can help you fill the gap left by Rosamunde Pilcher. It's disheartening when there are no new books from our favorite authors!
Welcome Merty and KV! We hope you love it here. We are a friendly, chatty bunch of readers who are always on the hunt for more comfort reads.
Hola! I enjoy all sorts of books across multiple genres. But mostly, if it makes me laugh, has a good dose of action, and ends without the major character dying or otherwise experiencing some horribly depressing conclusion, then I'm cool with it XP. Looking forward to finding some great reads here!
Hello Merty and welcome to the group, even tho' I feel like I've known you for a while already! ":)
Welcome, Zee! I am looking forward to hearing what your favorite books are.
I find as I get older, watch my children leave the nest, and go through the hormonal stress of perimenopause, I more and more often appreciate a comforting read - so when I ran across the name of this group I joined on the spot w/out hesitation. I'm looking forward to ideas for books that are interesting, with complex & real characters, but not so exciting and dark as so much popular fiction is.
