This is the first time I've counted pages. I was just wondering where everyone was with this. Have you counted pages before and do you think you read more just to reach that point of hitting 500 or 1,000?

message 2: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) I've never counted pages before either, but I do find myself bugging my mother about the library. I don't seem to be stressing out about how many pages books have, just if I have enough books with pages. :)

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

idk about the pages only what is written on them

I love that... Great quote to use. It will be my new status update. Good way to look at things.

The other night I found myself reading to get to 800 pages but then I was so close to finishing the chapter that I kept reading then I was close to 900 once I got tired that I continued until I reached it. Pushed myself for 2 extra hours.

message 5: by [deleted user] (new)

True. I forget what I have read or what it was about at least. I only have books marked as read on my profile if I read in 20008 on. That is when I really started to keep track of what I read, but only book titles.

message 6: by [deleted user] (new)

That must be a great feeling. There have been a few that I have re-read and many that I would like to re-read.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

I can't read a book again it takes from the book cuz u vagley know whats going to happen

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

But there are things you can miss the first time around. Just like a movie, sometimes you miss certain things.

message 9: by [deleted user] (new)

yeah but suspense and sadness aren't so much fun the second time around

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm sure that is the case sometimes. But if the writer is good a story should be able to hit you more then once.

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

yeah but I have like an amazing memeory so it ruins t for me

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

That memory will be handy in the science/health feild. So many terms!!

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

yeah I don't want a medical profession though :(

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

Right now I'm almost finished with a Biological Science degree and I have no intention of going into the medical field. Perhaps research. Genetics. I could all day splitting and making DNA. I could never be a nurse and if I was in medical I'd have to be a surgeon just so I cut people. I don't' intend on spending half my life in dull medical classes!!!

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, for chicks with lab coats! We're HOT!

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

Is anyone counting as you go or do you just count the full total when done with the book? I've just been crossing off the full total once I'm done with the book. Luckily I haven't run into I book I couldn't stomach tell the end.

message 17: by Jencey/ (new)

Jencey/ (jencey) I am new to the group. I have started with the paperback edition of Between Sisters by Kristin Hannah (pages 428).

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

I have the hardcover... Which I should be starting shortly. Thanks for Joining =)

message 19: by Emily (new)

Emily Rozmus (rozmuse) | 35 comments I was an English teacher before I became a librarian and I always shied away from giving the kids a number of words they had to write for an essay. I have never thought of books in terms of pages, but as a completion of a story or an idea. This is a new thing for me. I have read 699 pages and we are only 8 days into January. That's pretty cool!

Emily I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels like counting pages is new. I'm enjoying and adapting to the idea =)

School. (Cringe.) Bring on the science books. I totally count text books. They are crammed full of info, so I'm told!

message 22: by Jencey/ (new)

Jencey/ (jencey) Just finished Shoe Addicts Annoymous. That would be 327 pages.

message 23: by Jencey/ (new)

Jencey/ (jencey) Just finished California Chances 345 pages.

message 24: by [deleted user] (last edited Jan 17, 2010 12:37PM) (new)

You finished two pretty quickly! Did you make a topic for yourself? I'm right under 3,000 pages for this month already. Yeah, ME!

message 25: by [deleted user] (new)

My classes start on the 25th. Right now I'm signed up for 17 credits but I'm thinking about changing things around for 19.

message 26: by Jencey/ (new)

Jencey/ (jencey) You can start a topic for yourself. I was close to finishing one and the other was a good read towards the end.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

That is good. Always a great time when you find good books. =)

Sure you can make a topic for yourself, if you want. Just click on new topic and name your file. You can post all your books for this year.

Oh... I took Botany last semester. I learned a bit of interesting facts and an easy A. I enjoyed it and would recommend it for sure. Physics is not my friend. I work hard on equations when I'm working on building rockets. Orgo? Organic Chem?? I'll be taking Anatomy and I'm so disappointed that I couldn't fit Chem into my schedule. But I'll be taking Minority Women in Lit class. Bonus. Along with Environmental ethics. And a bunch of crappy required classes that I've put off for the last year an a half. Ugh, so not looking forward them.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Ouch I haven't hit Organic Chem yet. Of course I need to get my butt into Chem. I tested out of Intro which a good sign.

3,466 pages so far!!

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

I just broke over the 4,000 page mark!!

*Happy Dance* I'm sure you are all glad you didn't have to witness that =)

message 31: by [deleted user] (new)

I like the update. Are you planning on posting the update every, lets say, 15 days?

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

I recently broke the 6,000 mark! =)

Oh, Happy Day!!

message 33: by Sherri (new)
