VAMPYRE LORE

apparantly Dracula was another name for Vlad the impaler. and that lead to some people believing that Vlad was the first true vampire on account of using his name for bram stokers novel. and what made it even more suspicious was that bram stoker new a professor of some sort that was researching vlad. something like that anyway.
but back a long time ago when people used to fear all things superstitious they believed in vampirism and stuff like that. people used to go arond stabbing corpses, thinking that the people were vamps and going to come back to life. and a lot of people were burnt having been accused of being a vampire or having dealings with vampires.

yeah but people back then were very religious and things that didnt fit in with religion were considered the devil's work pretty much which is why they didnt tolerate acts of vampirism

The vampyre image has changed over the years, shaped by literature and television media. Each author, filmmaker, and storyteller adds their own uniqueness to the mysterious, frightening stories of vampyres. The vampyre has been changed time and time again, and it may be hard to determine what the actual first vampyre would have been like, or thought to be.
According to Hebrew mythology, Adam (the first man on Earth) had a wife prior to Eve, named Lilith. It is said that she did not honor Adam by refusing to take the bottom position during sexual intercourse. Because of her rebellion, she was forced to flee, and lived the rest of her days as a monstrous demon, seducing men, stealing babies, and feeding on their blood. (We would not see the sexual side of vampyrism again until the early 20th century.)
Lilith was often portrayed as a female supernatural entity with bird-wings and feet. She is sometimes pictured with desert animals. Lilith is considered by some to be the first vampyre.
The vampyre or similar myths depicted the blood sucking monsters as hideous demons until a young novelist, Bram Stoker, wrote his famous masterpiece, "Dracula". Although the book was based on Vlad Dracula, Stoker added some fantasy to the blood-thirsty ruler. The vampyre now became a mysterious undead human wearing a cape. I think this was also the first reference of a photophobic vampyre.
During the early 20th century, film directors added fangs, bringing back the monstrous characteristics, especially in "Nosferatu". However, the vampyre never fully returned to its hideous monster image. Instead, it became a seductive, romantic sexual being, biting women on the neck in an erotic, sexual way. (Earlier vampyres did not care who they attacked as long as it was something that could be eaten or destroyed.)
Modern day author, Anne Rice, combines the monster image with the sensual one. In her novel Interview with a Vampire, she stays consistent with the blood thirsty vampyre Lestat, but introduces a passionate vampyre, Louis. However, Rice reveals the "human" side of Lestat by giving him emotions. Another example of the sexual nature of vampyres is found in the hit TV series on the WB networks, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The changing face of the human-like vampyres into an ugly, wrinkled face, and growling suggests a monster. However, Buffy falls for a "good" vampyre named Angel (Angeles) who is a young, attractive male, engaging in "human" romance with her. He then turns to the other side, and allows the demon to awake within him.
Although the imagery of the vampyre has changed, the legend stays consistent. The vampyre is killed or stayed by what is good. The cross, a wooden stake, silver bullets, and garlic would repel or kill a vampyre. Interestingly enough, the mirror was thought to be the gateway into Liliths web according to Jewish Mythology. The modern depiction of vampyres has it that they leave no reflection in mirrors.

she seems very interesting
she seems very interesting

Yes, She is!! But don't take too much interest in her. If you believe that God exists. Then i sure as hell can say that Lucifer and Lilith exists as well.
I will surely write a small description of her here though. Just a summary of what i know from my knowledge i have of her. Maybe after i get home. I am gonna make the members of this group the best damn scholars on Vampires there is on GR. And in the process make this group more interesting as well.
yeah God exists! so was lucifer a fallen angel? why did he fall?
Lucifer fell from grace when he decided to lead some angels in a war against God. as an outcome, Lucifer was cast out, The ones loyal to him became deamons, the ones that sitched sides to God halfway became Vampire, the ones who did nothing became Elves.
awesome thank you for answering me!
i dunno just never looked it up before i guess
parents threw out my Bible before I could read it and they are too lazy to take me to church :(
oh...My parents take me every week. I'm an alter server, wanted to bring a Bible with me, but never got around to packing it. :(
lucky!!! i wanna go! y dont u pack beforehand?

I totally agree with you on the fall from grace part. But the rest is ... well... not true!. Vampires were and will always be offsprings or changelings of Lilith. They were half way in God's Grace or Lucifer's Path. God never accepts anything Half way or half full nor did Lucifer. God's only helpers are his Angels and Lucifer's are Demons. There is no mention of Elves in Christian Legends either.
Vampires has been and will always be what they themselves created them to be. Immortal beings made purely of nothingness which chooses its path for itself... be it evil or good. But the basic instinct WILL ALWAYS remain the same, Evil & to Kill.
I can vouch for all the things i've said because its been said by the Demons themselves written in a book. I found the book in Google Reader:
Picture Museum of Sorcery, Magic and Alchemy By Emile Grillot Degivry
Check it out.
DETAILS OF SAID BOOK:

And other books by: Emile Grillot DeGivry be warned though. The books by this author are sometimes dangerous if meddled with.

If you study Christian culture really hard and deep. You can see that the nature of Angels are binding on thoughts that are either YES or NO, GOOD or BAD, OBEY or DISOBEY and so on. There is no such thing for them as in between an YES or NO or GOOD or BAD or OBEY or DISOBEY. These beings we are talking about are Angels. Made by the very creator that cast them out. They can only choose to obey him or disobey him(case in point being the fall of an angel)
So my dear, dearest Mari. Elves were not part of Christian lore. Its purely part of Germanic mythology and sometimes seen as fairies in Roman Myth as well.
Trust me when i say all this. And as i said before about the view of vampires being changed through the centuries in my earlier post. The Angelic lore was also not spared.
fine, but what if that decision was made after the fact? what if they couldn't decide which to choose? so they were stuck in the middle. what then?

Again I say, they can only choose between good or bad. because, unlike us human beings, they are pure spiritual beings. Their life is not for them to choose. For them, its either... serve God and his plans or choose eternal damnation.

Hmmm, yeah, true(grudginly addmitted) but, again, what if those few who couldn't choose were the ones that weren't entirely pure spiritual beings? That would make sense seeing as they are never mentioned otherwise. Also because Elves are seen as the flippant ones, the ones who don't care about anyone or anything other than themself\ves. If these beings had been angels at one time, then they wouldn't have cared enough to join either side.

Let me get this straight! ELVES or ELVEN LORE WAS NEVER PART OF ANGELIC LEGENDS OR CHRISTIANITY!! AND THE ONLY NON-PURE-SPIRITUAL BEINGS GOD CREATED WERE HUMANS!! There were no class of angels called NOT-ENTIRELY-PURE-BEINGS before or after in any of the Christian books or allegorical writings or even the apocrypha.
SO to SUM IT ALL UP!! There are NO HALF-BLOOD TYPE ANGELS and Elves WERE NOT part of CHRISTIANITY nor were they ANGELS at any point of their being!!
If you want me to teach you Elven Lore. Just make me a thread for it and i will gladly do that! NOW... no more questions connecting Elves to Angles and Angels who are HALF-SPIRITUAL will be tolerated in this thread.
OH! and MARI, why are you asking the same question with different point of views over and over again? You have heard me answer the same thing three times already.
so who decided that vampyres burn up in the sunlight?
it's because sunlight is seen as holy, and since vampire are unholy beings, therefore, they burn in the sun.
ANYWAY. what if an angel and a human got busy together? That ci\ould make a pretty messed up angel there. aka, a potential elf.
And I'm fighting so hard because I love elves.
BTW, I already made a group for elves, but everyone's ignoring it. :P
