Thank you again to D.J. Webber for joining Desperate BookJunkies. I will be reading his book very very soon and will be giving David an honest review. I urge everyone in DBJ to do the same! Also please feel free to pick apart "Oom" and David here-- which I already forewarned him we would be doing! lol

BEWARE!

Sincerely,
Jennifer Squire

Jess (jhigg) I just put in my name for "Firstreads" with this book a few days ago.

Even if I don't get it I'll have to find a place to rent it from! It sounds wonderful.

Jessica, I can't wait to start reading "Oom". David (the author) is a wonderful person with a good heart. His book has gotten a lot of wonderful comments on his page...

Perhaps maybe we can read "Oom" for the January book club reads? We'll have to see how the other members are coming along with their books! And what they want to read, but I am definatly going to read it as soon as I finish the last hundred pages of "Roots".

Jessica, I want to start reading it so bad! But the only way to order the book is through Amazon, I think. It is fairly new so I don't believe libraries would have it, and I don't think it is available at bookstores (although you can goto their websites and search for it). If anyone is interested to read it maybe we can make it for FEB. group read? If so, leave a short post saying you have found a place you can acquire the book by Feb and that you would like to read it. I will open a poll at the end of Dec. to verify that everyone wants to read "Oom" by D.J. Webber in Feb as the group read!

D.J,
Yes I expect a sequel to "Oom" I loved it! Your use of words make this story come to life in such a lovable way.
To those who are contemplating reading "Oom" here is my review (which will include some basics of the story, and without spoilers):

A family in Australia is experiencing a drought like none other on their farm. The crops and ability to farm is non-existent, the sheep and farm life are dying, and the ability to sustain the family is dwindling quickly. They are on the brink of selling the farm to a neighbor and the debts are piling higher, when the appearance of a strange letter, and a strange friend, makes his appearance. With the appearance, comes the news, that there MAY be a way to save the farm (which is more important than the family knows), but to do so, the boy, Joe, will have to convince his father that all hope is not lost(at least just for one more day) and to convince his father to do something so irrational that, if not done, the farm may truly be gone forever! "Oom" is an exiled alien from a planet known as an Llevro. He has come to the farm for a specific reason, to visit the "smartest "life form" on earth" (which is not humans)-- (You would never guess, but when you find out, you can't imagine how it could be anything else). "Ooms" adventure turns into something more than just a story. It turns into a wish by the reader that they could be so lucky to meet "Oom" and share his world, and to learn from them, what "Ooms" planet has learned from the "smartest thing on Earth", perhaps in a sequel? We can only dream!

Angie | 225 comments I've just looked at what you guys were reading and Oom looked pretty cool so I've decided to read it myself. Its a bargain to buy as a kindle ebook so I'm going to start it tomorrow:-)
