What are you reading right now?

I am currently bouncing around too many. I'm reading the Graceling, Uglies, Shiver. There are others but this will be the main books for this week. (due back soon).

I'm hoping to increase the number of books this year. I never counted pages before, this will be interesting.

Welcome to the group! So glad you could join our little group. It gets crazy at times but I'm also glad to say I've had tons of fun so far with everyone on here!

they can be awesome when it comes to gore and stuff which is awesome but not like super gross inbetween vage and indetail
I heard that book was good. What do you think of it so far?
I think I have the book somewhere I just haven't gotten to it. Maybe this year. That book will pack on the pages for sure.
I just finished reading Graceling... I have to say I'm not that impressed. I would give it a 2.5 stars. There were parts that I liked and parts that were just ok, but not enough for it to be Good or Great. I wouldn't read it again. However, if you like completely new realms where some people have special powers then you may like this one.

I'm rereading the Silmarillion, right now. I love the rich details, though it's sometimes hard to keep track of all the names of characters and places.
She was distant and hard to identify. I did like how so had the internal battle. The story was dull. I was for interesting for a chapter boring for 3 then interesting again. There were too many LULL parts.
I haven't read that one. I am half way into Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. This book I find more worthy of my time. Except I'm not feeling so hot so instead of finishing the book I was sleeping all day. UGH.

Also, I'd like to welcome you to the group. Thank you for jumping in =)

Ah, Kate, I also just thought that Shiver was just Ok. It was a book that I wanted to like but didn't quite get there. I did think the ending was a tiny bit better than the beginning but not by much.

I just finished the second book in the League Series. It is a Adult Sci-Fi Romance that I would highly recommend to anyone of age and to keep on your TBR read for when you become of age. By Sherrilyn Kenyon.
Now I am currently working on the young adult Wicked Lovely. It isn't horrible and it isn't great. But I'm only just beginning the adventure. By Melissa Marr.

Geez... another one of those books. So, far I would add Graceling and Shiver to that list of just ok for 2010.
Have you ventured to find out if the series gets any better??

Graceling and Shiver were both just ok? I've been thinking about reading them. Are they worth the read?
Graceling, Po has a strong character to him and you will love him throughout the story. Grace is an assassin and I had little connection with her. I wanted to like the story. There were good points and then some lulls. But I think I will reach for the next in the series. I'd like to find out what happens with Po.
Shiver, again this book had lulls in it. The guy, forgot his name, was and would be a too amazing boyfriend. Too not real, which, worries me with the young teen craze. And I guess the weird part was she fell in love with a wolf. Normal people love animals and may obsess about their survival but not fall in Love with them. Creepy.

I think his name is Sam or something like that. I read the back of the book.
How similar is Shiver to Twilight? In regards to the romance and supernatural, it seems like another book trying to piggy-back off of Twilight's success...
Yes, Sam. When I picked it up I had no idea what I was going to be reading besides ya werewolf something. I wasn't even think Twilight when I was reading it. But I do think that it is very different besides the girl. Plain and boring. But I wouldn't consider say read or not based on Twilight.

I do think she is a bit stronger. Independent and actually does something in a situation.
The book does have potential. They both do but they just didn't hit me. I do think they could get better. Of course that is why they will be series. It is always hard to judge a series by the first book.
Aviva, how is the book so far? How is the series?

Yes, you must let us know what you think once you are done with Her Fearful Symmetry. I'm very curious!
Well, now that I'm into the semester I can already see my lack of reading time. Oh boy. I'll try to get some books in but it doesn't look like it wont be nearly as many as usual. *Extreme disappointment*
I'm glad that I'm not the only one. Ah... Sigh... Books I miss you already.
I know. Wouldn't it be nice to have more hours in the day just to read? It makes me more aware of the time that I have. I need to get my homework done earlier so I can have my nights for pleasure reading. Procrastination is apart of me and it is hard to get over that.
That does seem like a major problem for me as well.
