Favorite Character and why?

Sarah Durzo Blint, definitely Durzo.

It might be my tendency to immediately symapthise with hunky villains, with dark pasts and tortured souls, or perhaps it simply all the depth that's in this character - anyways, I loved Durzo from the start, and though I knew he'd die at some point, I kept seeing in him a character of the same significance as Kylar.

It's amazing how despite everything he's become, Durzo was still a just and honest person, capable of love and compassion. I love him.

Michael (keisu) Difficult to say... But somehow I think I'd like Durzo more if he was the main character. Doubtless there is potential for books focusing on Durzo's background. I'd love it to read more about him

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 916 comments I'm in the Durzo camp too. He's probably the most developed, realized character of the bunch. I'm like Sarah on the villain love (sans hunky) as I tend to like well drawn out bad guys or dark characters. Now, the only true adversary I liked at all was Vi, and we only get a little taste of her.

Well, the King was funny. Despicable, but I love how the poor bastard tried to curse and didn't know any words but "shit". I love little character quirks like that in a story.

I like Kylar. He's sort of a mini-Durzo and I'd like to see how he develops in the other books.

I liked Momma K a lot too.

Pamela (pamela128) I have to go with Momma K. It's not easy loving the world's greatest assassin and she does it well. She's fierce, loyal and what she does for the kids in the winter. Ahhh, I just love her.

Chris, soon you will be eating Vi by the bowl full!

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 916 comments I got that impression, Pamela. And that's great news.

Regina Heater (reckshow) I liked Drake. He intrigued me, from wondering why he would so readily help Durzo to his story of how he came to be the man he was.

I'm also a Momma K fan. She's a realist, but still determined to do the best she can with the cards she's holding.

Fox (foxmists) | 218 comments I'd have to say Vi. Definitely. But I tend to identify with dark female characters. Women with a rough past. I've been there, so I understand them better. Sanderson does an amazing job of writing these types of characters (in this book and others). THAT is one of my favourite things about his stories. He has a knack for understanding the mindset of those that have dealt with the streets.

I do have a love of Count Drake as well though. You will understand a lot more about him in future books, I suspect. I have read the whole trilogy and I'm trying very hard to remember where book 1 stops! *grin*

Drake has a lot of great qualities and an in-depth history. He shapes Kylar in a way that is almost the opposite of Blint. He keeps Kylar from being Hard as opposed to being strong. Kylar is strong but not hard. Hard shatters. Strong endures. Kylar needed that softer side. He needed that love that no one else gave him. That was most important.

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 916 comments I'm about 100 pages from the end of Shadow's Edge. I can see now that I'll be joining the Vi camp. She's wonderful.

Fox (foxmists) | 218 comments Also, is it wrong to say that the Ka'kari was one of my favourite characters? Because it was. It has a life of it's own in a way. I dug it. ;)

Rita Webb (ritawebb) I liked Vi best. The emotional turmoil and watching her grow and unfold...

Being such a sucker for romance, I so wanted her and Kylar to get together at the end.

I totally agree. Almost every line it (he?) had was awesome.
Vi was unexpectedly interesting as a character, while Kylar had his ups and downs.
