I'm just sitting up my list. I should have my first book for 2010 to add this weekend.

Kay wrote: "I simply must read M.C. Beaton some time - I do enjoy a good mystery."They are just fun little reads. Another of her series is the Agatha Raisin mystery series, of which I have the first one, but I haven't read it yet. Let me know if you start reading any of them, Kay.
JanB wrote: "I enjoy both of Beaton's series too. Agatha is quite amusing!"Thanks, Jan, for the positive feedback on the Agatha series. I hope to read some of it this year.
Kathy wrote: "The Help by Kathryn Stockett
(5 stars)"Glad to see you liked The Help so well . . . it's on my "To Read" list for this year.

Kay, I urge you to read it sooner rather than later. I'm glad I did.
Andrea wrote: "Kathy, it looks like you are reading some great books!"Thanks, Andrea. I am having a pretty good run right now.

I was intrigued by the idea, too. I love time travel lit, and this one has a unique twist on that.
Andrea wrote: "Nothing like a good run to inspire you...lol!!"How true, how true. And might I just take this opportunity to say what great moderators you and Kay are, Andrea. Thanks for running a great group!
It is entirely our pleasure Kathy! We both enjoy this great group so much, we only wish we had more time to spend with you all!...lol Such is life, you make the most of what you have :)
11. The Swan Thieves by Elizabeth Kostova
(5 stars)I had been waiting a long time for Kostova's second novel, as I loved her first one, The Historian. I wasn't disappointed. This second one is a wonderful art-fiction book. See my review for more of my praises for it.
12. Death of a Valentine by M.C. Beaton

(4 stars)Another great Hamish Macbeth mystery from Beaton
Kathy, I am finally reading "The Help" - halfway through and I love it. And I must, must, must read something by M.C. Beaton. Life is just too darned short!I might read "The Tenant of Wildfell Hall" - it's a book selected by one of my goodreads groups. . . glad to see you gave it 4 stars. That's encouraging.

Kay, the book group I read Wildfell Hall for was The Victorians. Is that the group you're referring to? I'm so glad you're enjoying The Help. And, yes, read M.C. Beaton just for the fun of it, especially the Hamish Macbeth series. I imagine myself in the small Scottish village of Lochdubh in the Highlands. It makes me really want to go there, too.

Kathy - yes, I was thinking of joining The Victorians in their discussion of Wildfell Hall - but I'm so far behind at this point that I probably won't.

I wanted to read it in part so that I would have read something by each Bronte sister. Also, I'm trying to read a few "classics" this year. I don't often fit in a read with a group, but I try to every once in awhile.
I have a bundle of them to add in one post today.22. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
(5 stars)23. Lincoln's Dreams by Connie Willis
(4 stars)24. A Murderous Procession by Ariana Franklin
(5 stars)25. The Wife's Tale: A Novel by Lori Lansens
(5 stars)26. An Unpardonable Crime: A Novel by Andrew Taylor
(4 1/2 stars)27. The Hand That First Held Mine by Maggie O'Farrell
(4, maybe 4 1/2 stars)28. Shakespeare's Landlord by Charlaine Harris
(4 stars)29. Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl
(4 stars)
WOW! You have read a TON that are on my TBR list. I just read "Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie" and LOVED it. I cannot wait to read the next one. And I too love Charlaine Harris. Have you read the Harper Connelly series? FABULOUS books. As is the Aurora Teagarden ones. My mom LOVES Hamish Macbeth. Totally. Not so much Agatha Raisin. I might read the Hamish ones myself sometime. And I think I need to bump up Thirteen Reasons Why. I am just hearing so much good about this book.
Andrea wrote: "Kathy, you are on a great roll and reading some interesting books!"It's been a great reading time lately. I just started The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest, bought a copy from Book Depot so I wouldn't have to wait until this summer.

I recently started on Harris' Lily Bard series and like them, but I haven't started on the Harper Connelly ones, plan to though. Hamish Macbeth is wonderful. I have the first Agatha Raisin one, but I haven't read it yet.
Kathy, it will be sad to read The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest knowing it is the last one he wrote before he died.
