Kate (kshiv) 48. The Girl Who Played with Fire by Steig Larsson
This was even better than Dragon Tatoo. It was intrigue from beginning to end. I was surprised several times by the twists and turns of the plot. this book had the world's biggest cliffhanger. I turned the page, and it was over. OVER. My mouth was left hanging open, I just couldn't believe it. Can't wait for the next one.

Kate (kshiv) 49. Austenland by Shannon Hale.
I pickedup this at the library b/c I am a sucker for all things Austen. I read this book today while my children were napping. It was a quick read and I loved every word. The story seems a little goofy at first by I totally fell in love with it. By the time I was done, my face hurt from smiling. If I hadn't been so worried the kid would wake before I finished, I sure I would have laughed out loud.

Kate (kshiv) 50. Covet by JR Ward
This is a new series about the Fallen Angels. It was not as good as the BDB but it was readable.

Kate (kshiv) 51. In the Woods by Tana French.
I could have sworn by looking at the cover i had read this book before but I don't remember the story at all. That being said, I'm glad i decided to read it because it was a easy. quick crime thriller. i could see a slight bit of romance but not enough to call it a romance/crime thriller. The main characters had great chemistry. The crime itself would have made a great Dateline of 48 Hours. Maybe that's what it reminded me of. Law and Order or CSI? The ending left a little to be desired. It was no Stieg Larsson ending where your satisfied and wanting more. But I enjoyed it. Sat in the 82 degree St. Louis weather while the kids played and read alomost the whole thing.

Kate (kshiv) 52. Memoirs of Mary Queen of Scots by Carolly Erickson
Ehh. I have never had a ton of interest in this character but for another group I am trying to read a book taking place in 52 countries. This was ok. Erickson is better writing non-fiction than fiction.

message 56: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 53. the Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde
This was the April pick for another book group. I had heard great things about this book and even voted to read it. Unfortunately, I didn't love it. I did love the Jane Eyre component. It was a little too fantasy for my taste. Just not my thing.

Kate (kshiv) I have 2 number 39's. So this is 55, not 54.
55. Altar of Eden by James Rollins
I received this book through the First Reads program. I was the story of a vetrinarian who gets pulled into a Blackwater style operation genetically changing animals. It was ok.

message 58: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 56. Kiss of Midnight by Lara Adrian
This is the first book in a vampire warrior series. It was ok but reminded me a little too much of the BDB. I didn't like the characters as well and the story was too similar. If I had read it before the BDB I may have liked it better.

message 59: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 57. The Girl who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen
I stayed up late and read this whole book last night. I really like all three of her books. They are delicious little pieces of fluff that are just fun to read. There is something sweet and innocent about the characters and everything ends up ok. I was worried I would be letdown by this book bc I liked the first two so much but i enjoyed this one as well.

message 60: by Kate (last edited Apr 18, 2010 05:08PM) (new)

Kate (kshiv) 58. Desire Unchained byLarissa Ione This is the second book in the Demonica series. "demonica" sounds kinda scary but this was just your typical sexy paranormal roomance.

message 61: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 59. Passion Unleashed by Larissa Ione. This book is the story of Wraith. Wraith? Why can't they have normal names. At least it's not Whraith, true.
It was pretty good.

message 62: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 60, Ectasy Unveiled by Lariss Ione This was the best one so far and I am really eager to read the next book. I felt more connected with the main characters in this one. I thought the plot was more interesting and less predictable.

message 63: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 61. Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen
I have already read this but it seemed like the perfect book to read on the front porch on this beautiful afternoon. i would recommend this book to anyone.

message 64: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 62. All Together Dead by Charliane Harris
This is the book when Sookie accompanies the vamps to Rhodes for the summit and basically cements her relationship to Eric for all time. Love it.

message 65: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 63. Lover Mine by JR Ward. I have been WAITING for this cheesy book forever. I stayed up late last night to finsh it. I enjoyed it but need a couple days and a second read before a proper review can be made.

message 66: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 64. Kiss of Crimson by Lara Adrian
This is book 2 of the BDB light series. I really liked it better than Kiss of Midnight. I have book 4 and 5 but not book 3. I really am in a conundrum because I have like 5 books coming out next month to buy. Maybe the used bookstore...

message 67: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 65. Midnight Awakening by Lara Adrian
This was an exciting story. I enjoyed it alot. The heroine was great. She was really strong and powerful. This book took place partially in Berlin which also helps by around the world book read, too. Yes!

message 68: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 66. Dead and Gone by Charliane Harris
Just a quick reread before the new Sookie book comes out. I really hope Sookie and Eric make a go of it.

Meeee toooo! That would probably make this book my favorite of the series. More Eric, please!

Kate (kshiv) 67. Midnight Rising by Lara Adrian
There is definately and formula to these Midnight Breed books. I'm not sure if I want to read them all.

message 71: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 68. Dead in the Family by Charliane Harris
The wait is finally over. I was happy with the book. Sometimes when you are waiting so long you read it and it's a letdown but I really enjoyed it.

message 72: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 69. Veil of Midnight by Lara Adrian
This was a good one. My second favorite.

message 73: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 70. Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffeneggar.
I loved the Time Traveler's Wife. It was different and exciting and sweet. I was excited to read this. It too was different. I'm not sure if that was good though. This book was weird. At the end, I know of went, "Huh. So that's that" I predicted the twist and was aggravated by the thought of not being able to escape someone without kying to do it. Weird book.

message 74: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) Full Moon Rising by Keri Arthur
This is the story of a half vampire half werewolf in a world of all kinds of species. It took place in Australia, which is why I read it, it counts for my Around the World book list. Yes!

Kate (kshiv) 72. Kissing Sin by keri Arthur

message 76: by Kate (last edited May 17, 2010 05:09PM) (new)

Kate (kshiv) 73. the Host by Stephenie Meyer
A whole lot of "try" went into writing this novel. It was just a little too much of everything. If it could have been pulled back and edited a little better I think I would have enjoyed it more. I tried to imagine that it was written by a different author and would I like it more. I'm not sure.

message 77: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 74. Dark Love by JR Ward
I'm an addict.

message 78: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 75. Fever Dream by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child
This is the latest Pendergast novel. It is definately different from the others. A totally different view of Pendie. I have to give it a couple days before I rate and properly review it.

message 79: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 76. Lover Eternal
77. Lover Awakened
L.A. is a really good book. I think it's my favorite of the series, which I got for mother's day and is why I'm reading them again. The only think that really bugs me about Ward's writing is the long passages in italics that are background to the stories. Especially in Lover revealed. who cares about Butch's family? She wants to write a whole history and doesn't have anywhere to put it so italicizes it and puts it in the books. True.
78. Lover Revealed.

message 80: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 79. Lover Unbound
80. Lover Enshrined
81. Lover Mine

message 81: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 82. In a sunburned country by Bill Bryson
Very enjoyable travel book written as the author explores Australia. The writing style was easy going and entertaining. A blessing in non-fiction. I am planning to read his book on Appalachia next.

message 82: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 83. Men of Danger by Lora Leigh, and others
Pretty cheesy romances.

message 83: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 84. Born of Fire by Sherrilyn Kenyon
I was surprised to like this book so much. It futuristic/scifi and that's not always my thing. I enjoyed it greatly. It was interesting and fast with a good romance.

message 84: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 85. A Walk in the Woods By bill Bryson
Loved this travel memior of hiking the Appalachian Trail. It made me want to hike. Then I went outside and it's 93 and humid in St. Louis today. Maybe later.

message 85: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 86. Born of Ice by Sherrilyn Kenyon
This was more romance novel formula than the first i read but still enjoyable.

message 86: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 87. Lord John and the Private Matter by Diana Gabaldon
Easy going mystery story. Unusual because the male lead is gay. Very quick read

message 87: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 88. Lord John and the Brotherhood of the Blade.by Diana Gabaldon
This one definately had more of a romantic nature. Between Lord John and Percy Wainwright.... Maybe I'm not ready for Quinn and Blay afterall.

message 88: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 89. Night Pleasures by Sherrilyn Kenyon
OK romance book. I am not going to read this series in order. There are over 16 of them and they are never going to be in at the right time at the library. I am just going to read them as they go.

message 89: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 90. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
My mom has been on me to reade this for ages. I really enjoyed the characters. Good story. to many detail. too long. I did enjoy it though. I love a Scottish accent even if its just in my head.

message 90: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 91. The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest by Steig Larsson
I love how this started right where played with fire left off. I felt like I just turned the page and kept going wiht the story. Yes, I waited 7 months to turn the page but still. the story was good. Love Mikeal. A few too many coincidences to make everything hunky dory but still a good story. The mystery was solved in the last book and this book was the wrap up. Still a great series. Big shame author has passed on. He was talented.

message 91: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 92. Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon.
I love love Jamie Fraser. Why are there so many details? I don't need to know what happened every day. Maybe 200 fewer pages. I will continue with the series. Could be a great mini series on pbs.

message 92: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 93. Dance with the Devil by Sherrilyn Kenyon
ehh.

message 93: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 94. Night Play by Sherrilyn Kenyon
95. Seize the Night by Sherrilyn Kenyon
96. Night Embrace by Sherrilyn Kenyon

message 94: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 97. Devil May Cry by Sherrilyn Kenyon

message 95: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 98. Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon
Good book. I am glad I read a couple of the others befroe I read Acheron's story.

message 96: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 99. Bad Moon Rising by sherrilyn Kenyon.
didn't like it. too much of it was copied and pasted from other books featuring the main characters.

message 97: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 100!! Voyager by Diana Gabaldon I made i with time to spare. This was a good book for 100. It was a bagillion pages long but I enjoyed it. I'm hooked on the characters and thinking in scottish accents.

message 98: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 101. Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon
102. A Fiery Cross
103. A Breath of Snow and Ashes
These are some seriously long detailed books. I dont know if I will read the last one. I'm losing steam.

message 99: by Kate (new)

Kate (kshiv) 104. The Reliable Wife
I hated this book. I found it pointless and the characters unlikable. You can be a selfish "bad character and be likeable. These characters were not. Not worth the hype.

Agree! This book really, really irritated me -- or more precisely, every single one of the characters irritated me, and I was sad I read it on my Kindle because it would have been very satisfying to throw the physical book across the room on occasion.
