Lenore (lenorenrr) Let me know how it is. The first one was very good. The writing is different, but flows beautifully. I need to read the last story, though.

I read these books already.. though it was many years ago, around middle school age. I loved them then, so I'm a little prejudiced. Even if they aren't as good as I remembered, I'll still love them anyway for the sentimental value.

Another of Christopher Pike's series, Remember Me, is being re-released in an omnibus volume in August. If you like his writing, you might want to try this!

Lenore (lenorenrr) I like the cover. What would you say it's about?

message 58: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (thehopelessbibliophile) Lenny wrote: "I like the cover. What would you say it's about?"

It's kind of hard to explain, but here are links to the individual books (although reading the synopses for books 2 & 3 will probably give you spoilers).
Remember Me
Remember Me 2 : The Return
Remember Me: The Last Story

Lenore (lenorenrr) Oh you lucky you. I would love to work in a bookstore!

Whitney (whitneychakara) | 25 comments Lenny wrote: "Oh you lucky you. I would love to work in a bookstore!"

I mean the only good thing is we can get 11 ARCs a month and check out books from the store instead of buying them. But the pay and hours suck and we cant check out mass market and alot of series I want to read are mass market. But we do get a huge discount so the book would be like 4 dollars instead of reg price. its bitter sweet lol cant pay my bills but i get books lol.

message 62: by Lenore (new)

Lenore (lenorenrr) Who needs bills. LOL. Yeah I can see where that would be frustrating.

I actually just finished Stray and I thought it was fantastic. I am looking forward to reading Rogue.

Lenore (lenorenrr) It just gets better from there.

DarkHeart "Vehngeance" (darkheart) | 30 comments Ugh... Shift is one my most anticipated releases for this year. I just read the first chapter she posted on her forum the other day and it's a great start, leaving me even more impatient. ;)

message 68: by Lenore (new)

Lenore (lenorenrr) I read it too. Wonderful.

message 69: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jnhart) I'm going to try for Riley Jenson, Mortal Instruments, and Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 2 comments I'm signing up for this one.

Series I've chosen is C.L. Wilson's Tairen Soul.
I've already read the first one, so I'm going to start with Book 2. I think the 5th book, and might be the last one, will be released this year.

Lady of Light and Shadows (Tairen Soul, Book #2) by C.L. Wilson King of Sword and Sky (Tairen Soul Series, Book #3) by C.L. Wilson Queen of Song and Souls (Tairen Soul Series, Book #4) by C.L. Wilson Tairen Soul (Tairen Soul Series, Book #5) by C.L. Wilson

Do you recommend them, based on the first one?

message 73: by Yz the Whyz (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 2 comments Definitely. I read the first one as a recommendation also, and I enjoyed it immensely.

message 74: by Mary E. (new)

Mary E. (jujjy) | 7 comments I'm in for this one! I'm going with a biggie, the Dresden Files series by Jim Butcher. I enjoyed the first one so much, I bought books two through ten for my Kindle (don't judge me, I had a gift card LOL!). I just haven't had a chance to continue reading them since. Maybe this challenge is the motivation I need!

Amanda (thehopelessbibliophile) Hi LooLoo,
Just wanted to let you know that the prequel to the Dorina Basarab series is in the On the Prowl anthology. Haven't read that story yet, but it's supposed to be really good!

Or, if you have a Kindle, you can buy the novella alone from Amazon without having to purchase the anthology. It's called Buying Trouble. And yes, it is good. :)
Buying Trouble by Karen Chance

Thanks for reminding me Amanda. I have On the Prowl and I've read two of the stories but was saving the Dori one till I started the series. I would have totally forgotten that if you hadn't told me.

No problem! Let me know how you like it. As soon as I can track down the first book (none of the local stores seem to be able to keep it in stock!), I want to read them. But I've never read Karen Chance before, so I'd like to get another opinion.

message 80: by Lenore (new)

Lenore (lenorenrr) Amanda: I recommend reading the books in this order:
Touch the Dark (Cassie book 1)
Claimed by Shadow (Cassie book 2)
Embrace the Night (Cassie book 3)
Midnight's Daughter (Dorina book 1)
Curse the Dawn (Cassie book 4)
Death's Mistress (Dori book 2)

Thank you! So the two series are related, then?

message 82: by Lenore (new)

Lenore (lenorenrr) Yes and no. You can read one without the other. It should just make more sense that way. If you read the whole Cassie series first, there are some things in Dorina that you might already know. And Midnight's Daughter just helps Curse the Dawn make more sense. They don't depend on each other, but Dori is defiantly a tie in.

Ok, I will take your advice for the reading order. Even if it's not *required*, it usually ends up being much easier to understand if you've read everything chronologically. Thanks again!

message 84: by Lenore (new)

Lenore (lenorenrr) No problem. I hope you enjoy them! I have Death's Mistress ordered, and I can't wait!

message 85: by LooLoo (new)

LooLoo I've read all the Cassie books and didn't realize the first Dori book came between 3 & 4. I need to get started on Dori soon. I've heard it is even better than Cassie. I like Cassie but I find myself struggling through parts of the books. There is so much action they kind of wear me out.

message 86: by Lenore (new)

Lenore (lenorenrr) I did the same thing LooLoo. I didn't realize Dory would have come between books three and four so I waited to read Midnight's Daughter. I wouldn't say it is better, but it defiantly is good.

i love
the mortal instruments series but the 4th one isnt out yet :(

message 90: by Lenore (new)

Lenore (lenorenrr) I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there is no 4th MI. There is a spin off series on the instruments and the past I believe but she ended it with City of Glass :(

Full Moon Rising was a different kind of great. Interesting even if slightly annoying. I am looking forward to the next book.
