Happy New Year - 2010!

So, I don't make NY resolutions, either. I either do it during the year or not. Every day is a new day.
Sanskrit Proverb (supposedly)
Look to this day,
For it is life,
The very life of life.
In its brief course lie all
The realities and verities of existence,
The bliss of growth,
The splendor of action,
The glory of power –
For yesterday is but a dream,
And tomorrow is only a vision,
But today, well lived,
Makes every yesterday a dream of happiness
And every tomorrow a vision of hope.
Look well, therefore, to this day.

But still, it's the new beginning of a year with all its days still future! So I join in wishing everybody a healthy and happy 2010.

I stayed up to 11pm one night when the kids were here, but that was a disaster. I still woke up at 4:30. I slept in until 5am this morning. I got to sleep by 10pm last night & never even heard any fireworks or guns at midnight - the usual celebration in these parts. Of course, it was very cold, so folks may have decided to stay in. No dogs came flying into bed shivering, so I assume so.

When I was a kid, my cousins had a New Year's Eve party at their house in New Rochelle, NY.
I remember them running out in front of the house at midnight and banging on their mother's pots and pans with big spoons. They also rigged things up so that confetti blew all over the living room from the ceiling light. They used a reversed vacuum as a blower, I think. Memories.
I'm still wondering who cleaned up all that confetti. :)
