Mandy's 2010 Reading Progress

LifeguardThis was my first JP novel that wasn't romance. I actually enjoy his mystery/thriller writing too. Will definitely be reading more JP this year. This book peeked my interest.
Glad you enjoyed this JP book Mandy; I may have to try it. The only (mystery-crime type) one I've read of his is "The Beach House" and I just didn't enjoy it very much. Well except for Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas which I really liked.
Oh no, Cindy! That one is at my moms and I planned on grabbing it next time I was there. She has so many JP books, maybe I will pick up a different one. I loved Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas too!!
I liked The Beach House.... I thought it was good. It's written in sorta the same style as The Lifeguard.

Mary PoppinsThe classic children story. The book is written in short chapters of mini adventures. I can't wait to reread it to my children at bedtime.

I read all of these recently. It was lots of fun to read the original stories.
Angie ~ I received a 3 book boxed set from my mother when she saw it on Broadway. I forgot all about it and came across it the other day. I plan on reading the other two in between other books. I loved the original story. Although, I did find myself singing the movie songs while reading certain adventures. LOL

Wedding Girl This was pure chick-lit. Put any drama possible into one book and this is the end result. A little bit too much with a disappointing ending.

Honeymoon I really enjoyed this book. You find out the killer in the first chapter and then the rest of the book is about hunting her down. Very interesting with a shocking ending.

The Wisdom of Bruce LeeI never really cared for Bruce Lee, but he is my husbands idol. Now after reading this book I can tell why. He was so self absorbed it's disgusting. He does have good insight on life though, even if his actions didn't represent his words.
ACK, Cindy!! I was dilly dallying with this book I picked up and it finally got interesting. I could probably polish it off at some point tomorrow. Let me know when you are ready. I will see if I have this one done in time.
Me too! Still have a ways to go on CeeCee Honeycutt...just remembered we have dinner plans tonight so I might still be finishing it tomorrow. I'll let ya know! Hope you're having a good Friday!! :)

The Lake HouseGood premise but overall I didn't like this book. It's not really my type of story. Plus it freaked me out over what type of experiments are really happening out there now.
Oh Mandy.... I was wrong. I'm so sorry! The Lake House was not the book i was thinking it was. I totally screwed that up.The Lake House is part of the YA series James Patterson does about the kids who have "unique abilities" huh? I goofed. I would not have recommended that one.
That's a series, Holli? Yeah the kids were pretty cool but the storyline wasn't that great and a bit freaky. Do you really think they do experiments like that? I don't think I have slept well since reading it. LOL
It just registered that the Maximum Ride series is about these characters. I may skip them or at least hold off for a while.
Yes, that's the name of the series! I've read The Lake House and When The Wind Blows from that series and I didn't care for them. Its very unsettling to think about and I hope to god they don't really do stuff like that.......
When the Wind Blows is part of a series? That was my first James Patterson. I kinda figured the Maximum Ride books were maybe along the same lines, but I never read them.
I think he started with writing the series for adults and then took it into YA form with the Maximum Ride series. When The Wind Blows is the first book, next is The Lake House.... and then it spins off to the Maximum Ride books.

Winter GardenBy far, Hannah's best book (which I have read.) This is one of my new favorite books. A must read!!
Ahh, you're finished!! I have to catch up. Didn't wind up getting ANY reading done last night so I'm still only ready to start Ch 14. Will let you know when I'm done; glad to see you loved it! It must all work out well in the end.
Oh Cindy, you will love it too! My only problem with it is that I can't pick up another book! I'm afraid it won't compare.
You are really breezing through books Mandy! I'm envious!! Promise, promise to finish Winter Garden this a.m. so we can complete our discussion! If I don't hurry up, you're gonna forget the details!! :)

Saving Ceecee Honeycutt: A NovelOh, how I loved this book. It made me laugh, it made me cry and at some points it made me so warm and fuzzy inside that it made me tear up out of happiness.
Wow Mandy! You are doing awesome! I wish I could read this fast, then maybe my TBR list would stop growing so quickly :) There are some great reads on here that I definitely want to check out. I am really looking forward to Winter Garden and Saving Ceecee Honeycutt: A Novel. I have never read Picoult or James Patterson before but I am thinking of giving them a try! Keep up the great work!
Amanda ~ I'm trying to read JP, I have a few favorite books I can recommend. Picoult is good too. I love her books. You have to read Winter Garden and CeeCee. They are my two faves of the year so far. =)No, it's not YA, I would call it Southern Lit. It's really good, Holli. You will love it. I highly recommend it. Especially to you!! You loved The Help, you will adore this!!
So many have recommended it but I wasn't sure. Now that I have your vote too I really need to put it on the list.... thanks!
I loved Nineteen Minutes, My Sister's Keeper and Change of Heart. Although I must admit that Change of Heart is not for everyone.I didn't like Handle with Care, it read too much like My Sister's Keeper.
I am reading The Tenth Circle on March 6th and plan on picking up Plain Truth at my next library visit because a friend just finished it and was raving about it.
I hope you like Plain Truth. It's probably my 2nd fav of hers (after The Pact). It's not quite the same as her normal story arc. There's less morality and more of a what happened? feel to it. I think, anyway.
