Ann--
I found Poison Study to be very reminiscent of Graceling and Fire. It's the sort of book that really immerses you in the author's world and leaves you wanting more. When I finished it, I anxiously counted down the days until Magic Study was available in the library. Plus, I just loved the characters.

In terms of other recommendations, have you tried Maggie Stiefvater's Lament and Ballad? Even though they weren't quite as good as Shiver for me, I still found them to be exceptional books. I really enjoy Maggie's lyrical writing style.

I would also recommend Skinned and Crashed, by Robin Wasserman. They're set in a dystopia that reminds me a bit of Scott Westerfeld's Uglies trilogy. Robin's got a third book, Wired, coming out in the Fall.

And it's not YA, but have you tried The Host? It seemed to have a very slow beginning, but I thought it was completely worth it by the end.

I haven't read any of Maggie Stiefvater's other books. I wasn't sure about the whole fairy thing. I liked Shiver so much, though, that I'll probably read her other books. I did read The Host and really enjoyed it.

Since I'm new to YA, I've pretty much already listed the good books that I've read, but I also liked The Maze Runner, The Pace (by Shelena Shorts), and Hush, Hush (by Becca Fitzpatrick). I definitely didn't like them as much as The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, Graceling, and Fire, though.

I'm really excited about some books I have on my to-read-list including Poison Study, Inside Out, Unwind, and Incarceron. I'll let you know more once I've read them.

Ann--I've never heard of The Pace or Incarceron. They sound interesting, so I've added them to my TBR list. And all of other books you mentioned are already on it! :)

And I was also skeptical about the faerie thing in Lament, but I think Maggie does it very well. I will say, though, that I think the subtitle The Faerie Queen's Deception was a little unnecessarily corny.

Heidi, usually I'm way outnumbered when it comes to some vampire book that I will not mention again, in fear that Peep will throw some tomatoes or else at me! ;) And all of my friends that are as obsessed as me with the Hunger Games are part of that other team, that I will not mention either, for the same reason again!!! So definitely, we should be Best Friends!!!

Shannen - Thanks for looking past our differences, even if you like a book series that sometimes makes me gag!;) I'm sure we will have a lot of other books to agree on!!! :)
