Jaimey (jaimeygrant) | 97 comments I am starting over even though I started late in 2009. I don't like how it went; I'd rather have a fresh start.

My writing goal for 2010 is 200 words per day. This goal will be reached with flash fiction, novels, edits/revisions of current drafts, and/or scene variations. I hope to actually write closer to 1000 per day but with two kids that's not always possible. I will not include blog posts, discussion posts, or emails. (I never counted them before.)

Further goals:
I will finish the first drafts of the following Regency romances: Temptation, Fascination, and Retribution. (Names may change.)

I will finish the edits on the following Regencies: Deception, Angel, and Intrigue. I will also have them published by the end of the year.

I will finish, edit and publish (or get published) the fantasy novel I started writing for NaNa09. (This one may be a little too much to accomplish in the coming year but I sure am going to try!)

OK. I think that's it. If I think of something else, I'll add it later. :o)

Paul Hi Jaimey!

Yes, still editing other writers' stuff :)

Good luck with your targets. You can do it.

message 3: by Jaimey (new)

Jaimey (jaimeygrant) | 97 comments Thanx, Paul. I appreciate the vote of confidence.

...even if it is from my stalker. ;o)

Paige Miller | 672 comments Good work, Jaimey! :)

message 7: by Paul (new)

Paul Marisol, it's a complex thing. Yes, I stalk Jaimey, but she also stalks me. It's like having a rucksack, except the sack and the wearer are interchangeable.

Jaimey (jaimeygrant) | 97 comments Thank you, everyone.

Sorry I've not been poking in more to this thread and others but this stupid fantasy novel won't leave me alone and then there are those pesky kids who call me mommy (just kidding). And facebook games. Ugh! Stupid facebook games. There has to be some sort of "Anonymous" groups for such an addiction, right?

New goal for 2010: Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay less facebook gaming. If I cut out the games, I'm sure I can make every one of my goals. I may even have time to clean my house. heh.

message 12: by Paul (new)

Paul I notice that lots of people seem to spend large chunks of the day on Farmville, Mafia Wars, Vampire Wars and so on. Being an addictive sort of personality, I've very carefully steered clear of them completely.

message 13: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 814 comments I've never understood facebook games … They confuse me. lol.

message 14: by Jaimey (new)

Jaimey (jaimeygrant) | 97 comments My current poison is Castle Age. I usually get bored with the games but Castle Age doesn't bore me yet. It will.

Addictive sort of personality? Yup, me too. It's why I don't gamble.

Jaimey (jaimeygrant) | 97 comments So, here's my pathetic breakdown for...

January 1, 2010:
Words written on NaNo fantasy: 188 (Right. Pathetic.)
NaNo novel total: 72,830
Year to date total: 188 (Super pathetic.)

I have gone over my goal for today but I'm not done yet, so I'll update tonight. :o)

Yesterday, I did write an in-depth blog post about my 2010 goals. Check it out if you're interested. http://jaimeygrant.blogspot.com

Here's today's breakdown:

January 2, 2010
Words written on NaNo fantasy: 1335
NaNo novel total: 74,165
Year to date total: 1523

Much better today than yesterday. I also did a blog post today to a different blog I manage: http://jaysdesignjewelry.blogspot.com . Not a super long and in-depth post, but it still took some time. :o)

Seriously, no rush, but I am looking forward to it.

Thanx for all the encouragement! And yes, Paul. You are on my list to receive this novel when I'm done. Be warned. It is rough. ;o)

message 24: by Jaimey (new)

Jaimey (jaimeygrant) | 97 comments Thank you!

Wait a minute. Aren't you on facebook right now? How can you be two places at once?

message 25: by Kyle (new)

Kyle Borland (kgborland) lol! aren't we all on so many sites at once :P

its the strange mystery of the 21st century

message 26: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (wendyswore) | 215 comments Howdy Jaimey, I was just checking out your blog. I agree with you on the facebook games thing. I finally turned them all over to my kids last month and they do them instead of me. (Farmville, Farmtown, & Fishville)

Dang fun little distractions!

message 27: by Jaimey (new)

Jaimey (jaimeygrant) | 97 comments Soooooooooo entertaining. And I don't understand why...

I finally hid YoVille and FarmVille. I just can't keep adopting every creature that shows up in the news feed. I didn't block them since so many rely on my neighborliness (sheesh, I didn't think that was actually a word, LOL) but without the constant reminder, they're easier to resist.

Meanwhile, today I have to do ordinary things like grocery shop. Who ever would have thought two small children could eat so much?

Sweet! I actually made my goal yesterday. Nice. Meanwhile, I have now cut a scene so I have to make up for that today as well as write an additional 200 words. That's OK. It's a rather free day today. :o)

January 5, 2010
Words written on NaNo fantasy: 680
NaNo novel total: 76,010
Year to date total: 3368

This was better than I expected since I actually cut a scene today. Coming up, many larger scenes are getting cut and rewritten. This is what happens when you change something major halfway through writing. You have to go back and fix all the "mistakes" you'd made. There's probably an easier way to go about this...

I'm still going to have this novel ready for critiques by the 31st.

Jaimey (jaimeygrant) | 97 comments January 6, 2010
Words written on NaNo fantasy: 311
NaNo novel total: 76,321

I actually wrote a LOT more than 311 words today but it involved a rewritten scene. I have even more scene rewrites tomorrow.

message 34: by Callie (new)

Callie (neverlandcallie) That's cool, good luck with your rewriting!

Again, way more than 240 was actually written yesterday. Rewriting is going well which probably means what I've written is even worse than what I originally had. Oh well. I can't stop now.

message 36: by Kyle (new)

Kyle T (kyletee) | 210 comments Nice work...your nano is SOO much farther than mine..and mine is going to be SO much shorter! :D

Jaimey (jaimeygrant) | 97 comments January 8, 2010
Words written on NaNo fantasy: 200
NaNo novel total: 76,761
Year to date total: 4119

Same as the past few days, more than 200 words have been written but today involved some scene removal as well as some scene shifting. I'm not sure if any of it is an improvement but it feels better this way. :o)

Annie and Toli, thanks for stopping by! I appreciate the encouragement. :o)

Paige, YAY!! I hope you like it. It's a little dark in places and definitely not funny but I've been told it's pretty good. *shrug* I'll let you be the judge of that. If you don't like it, I honestly want to know.

message 38: by Kyle (new)

I think I'm cheating myself. I probably wrote over 2000 words today but as I am cutting a scene as I go, I don't count all the words I write. I'm going to try something a little different tomorrow, I think...

Side note: This story is turning into something other than my original synopsis suggested. This is why I usually do not write the synopsis before writing the story. :o/

I may need someone else to write the synopsis for me. Sheesh.

message 42: by Brigid ✩ (new)

Brigid ✩ | 814 comments You're welcome. :) Urrgh, synopses are so hard to write! I'm supposed to be working on a few for my own books but I'm putting it off … :P

Good writing day. I even managed two blog posts. If anyone's curious, I wrote an updated synopsis for my fantasy novel and posted it to my blog: Fantasy Writing and Reviews.

message 47: by Wendy (new)

Wendy (wendyswore) | 215 comments Jaimey, I like your blog. Especially the swirly deals that come from the side. Very visually appealing. Your blurbs are good too. Happy writing.

message 48: by Jaimey (new)

Jaimey (jaimeygrant) | 97 comments Thanx, Wendy! Blurbs are so hard to write. I have so much trouble cramming a plot into so few words, LOL. :o)

I can't take credit for the lovely background, though. I got it here: http://blo64rt.blogspot.com/ . Gorgeous backgrounds! I love so many of them but this one appealed to me.

Wendy (wendyswore) | 215 comments What a fun place to look at! I'm new to the whole blog thing, so I've been picking the brains of good friends like Paul for help and instruction. I'll have to save that blog adress for later when I need a change!

Isn't it funny how when we are little we complain that a teacher assigned us to write a whole entire page. A whole page? can we double space? What if we write the words really big? Does that count?

ANd now, keeping our words down to such a small amount is a real challenge. How things change, eh?
