Bobbie Hello, I have been on GoodReads for a few months now and I came across your group today. I enjoy reading in my leisure time and I am looking for suggestions on good books to read. I don't know many authors so through goodreads and groups my list of TBR is growing. I hope by joining the TNBBC I will find some interesting suggestions and maybe read a few that I would of never picked up on my own.
Best Wishes and Keep Reading
Bobbie

Bobbie Hello, I will be sure to check out your book shelves. I like drama, fantasy, and mystery but I am expanding what I read. As long as it keeps my interest I'll read it.

Bobbie Hi Jessica,

I was born and raised in Muskegon so it is all I really know. I live about 7 miles from Lake Michigan which is beautiful in the summer. Right now we have about 3 inches of snow and temps are averaging low 20's. How is it in the U.P.? It can be beautiful up there in the summer but I haven't ever been up there in the winter.
Take Care
Bobbie

Jess (jhigg) Well, when I left to come home for the holidays we had... oh... about a foot or two of snow and it was whipping around real bad. I'm sure it hasn't changed too badly.

Adrienne (a-town) | 308 comments Hi Bobbi. I used to live in Grand Haven just ten miles from Muskegon. I loved it up there!!!! It's so beautiful, especially Lake Michigan. We went swimming every day in the summer. Have you ever been to the Coast Guard festival? We went every year. I'm sorry, but I'm just so excited to meet another Michigander.

Have you ever read Bernard Shaw? He's an Irish playwright who has written some very excellent and thought-provoking dramas. He's one of my favorite authors. Some of his plays are: Pygmalion, Man and Superman, Mrs. Warren's Profession, and many more.

Happy New Year, and Welcome!!

Bobbie Hello Adrienne,

Thanks for writing me. So where are you living now? I was born and raised in Muskegon and where I live now is about 6 miles from Grand Haven. Yes, I have been to the Coast Guard Festival many times. It is beautiful here most of the time, although I am not much of a winter person so right now I tend to hibernate. It's when I get most of my reading done.

I haven't ever heard of Bernard Shaw. Thank you for the suggestion and I will be sure to check out his writings.

I will be adding you as a friend so that I can see what you are reading and some of your reviews.

Have a Happy New Year
Bobbie

Adrienne (a-town) | 308 comments I'm currently living in North Carolina, we just moved here a couple of months ago. Michigan will always be my favorite place though. I'm rather new to Goodreads myself, so I don't have too many reviews posted, but I'm hoping to get some written here in the next few weeks or so. If you really like fantasy, I might suggest Robert Jordan's "Wheel of Time" series. It gets kind of long, but its got a very good story with some neat characters. It's a nice rainy (or snowy) day read.

Bobbie Snowy in N.C.? Never been there.

Will check out Robert Jordan. I enjoy series books. If you checked out my read shelf you will see I have read just about all of V.C Andrews books. There are a couple of series I have to catch up on of hers because I like to wait until the series is finished before I start them. I hate to have to wait a long time in between books.

Happy Reading

Adrienne (a-town) | 308 comments It doesn't really snow in NC, but when it flurries we get out of school early due to "inclement weather." It's funny for a yankee like me. When the very first snowflakes fell, everyone ran to the window to stare, it's like they'd never seen snow before. No snow accumulated on the ground, but the lines were long at the grocery store and there were cars on the side of the road. People freak out when there's even the tiniest bit of snow. It's cute.

Wheel of Time is a series of 12-14 books. I can't remember just now. The first part of the last book was just recently published I think. I'm not sure how long it will be til the other book/books come out.

Cynthia | 2 comments Hi Bobbie,

I had to say Hi! when I saw that you were from Muskegon. I have a lot of ancestors that came from there and I went to Hope College in Holland for my first 2 years of college. (Our daughter graduated from Hope, too, so we've been back to the area fairly recently.)

I second the recommendation about Robert Jordan's series, The Wheel of Time. It's long and complex, but very good.

Bobbie Hi Cynthia,

Thanks for dropping a line. I will check out Robert Joran's series. I have seen both good and bad reviews on the series but I alway say "to each their own"

Take Care
Bobbie
