I'm relatively new to paranormal romance and I've never done a challenge before, but this list sounds so good I can't help myself. I already have a few of these in my arsenal for a trip I'm taking, so hopefully I can start off 2010 with a bang.My (tentative) list is...

Its hard when Im into mainly Vamps, weres and shifters..."Cheyenne McCray's Magic series is about witches - would probably fit into the immortals and warrior categories as well. The first book is Forbidden Magic. Quite steamy though :)
Oh, and I'm in - just need to work out my list.
IF I can keep my grubby paws off of it, the only book I have definately decided on for Jan. is Some Girls Bite for my vamp book. But like I said--that's only IF I can be strong and resist its siren call. Its going "REEAADDD MMEEE, readddd meee, you know you want toooo!!! I'm juussttt sssoooo gggoood and I have yooouuurrrr best intteerrreesstttsss at heart! RREEAADDD MMEEEE NNNOOOWWWWWW!!!" :o)
Rebecca, Harrison's series is not all about romance. It has more to do with Rachel and the situations she gets into. The first book she leaves her job. It would not be so bad, but once she leaves, they put a hit out on her life. She has to outrun the killers and the vamps after her. The first book won best paranormal fantast of the decade. It don't about that, but it is pretty good. I love the whole series! Harrison is on facebook and asnwers fans questions. Jenks is a great charcter in the book too. He is a pixie with like 18 kids. So funny! I think you might like it. I hope so anyway. Let me know if you read it!

Quick question before I put together my list. December was the first month that I did a challenge so I'm not sure about something. Can I list a book in the challenge that I've already read before but that I'm interested in re-reading? Or does it need to be books that I've never read before?

I notice a lot of people are reading Shiver for the werewolf selection. :) I haven't read it yet and I hope I get through it next month. Maybe we should have a discussion thread for it :)

Just curious, does the book need to revolve around the theme, or can there just be a character that is one of them? Like the Cassie Palmer books, Cassie is the main character and she fits #9, but there are also, #1, 4, 5, 6, 7 & 9, but they aren't necessarily who the story revolves around, they are characters she interacts with... (I've already read this series, but I was curious as it seems some of the books I'm considering have characters that fit the themes, but they aren't the main character.)
1. vampires - Death's Mistress by Karen Chance (Will be released Jan 5th)2. werewolves - Kitty's House of Horrors by Carrie Vaughn (Will be released Jan 1st)

Heather - have you read the series by Rachel Vincent? They are cat shifters. You could probably also count the Mercy Thompson series, since the main character is a coyote. I just started reading some of the books by Shelly Laurentson, and most of her shifters are something other than wolves. Magic Bites by Kate Daniels has lots of different types of shifters, the main one being a lion. And a lot of the were-hunter books by Sherrilyn Kenyon are shifters that turn into something else too!I'm sure there are lots more, but those are just the ones that I can think of off of the top of my head!
There's also the Breeds series by Lora Leigh and the Psy-Changeling series by Nalini Singh. I think that the Succubus Blues series by Richelle Mead could also count because the main character is a shape-shifting succubus.

I have been thinking about looking into the Psy-Changeling series, though. This could be a really good excuse. If they had the first one at Borders the other day, I would already have it.

It's the only one in the series that I've read, but the second is on my challenge list and has been on my shelf for a few weeks. The only reasons that I haven't already read it are that I had to scrounge up enough money to buy it, and I had to finish my December challenge.

I need suggestions for Gods/Goddesses/Immortals. Would someone please look at my "To Read" bookshelf and recommend something that fits that category.
LooLoo wrote: "I need suggestions for Gods/Goddesses/Immortals. Would someone please look at my "To Read" bookshelf and recommend something that fits that category."i tried to look looloo, but your shelf is private :-(
LooLoo wrote: "I need suggestions for Gods/Goddesses/Immortals. Would someone please look at my "To Read" bookshelf and recommend something that fits that category."I looked through the shelf and saw My Immortal. That would qualify :)
I haven't read it yet, so I can't technically recommend it... but it should fit the category.
LooLoo wrote: "I need suggestions for Gods/Goddesses/Immortals. Would someone please look at my "To Read" bookshelf and recommend something that fits that category."How about
or possibly
or
Flib - I thought of that, figured it would be safe, LOL!Lucy - I'm wanting to read Succubus Blues so that's a good suggestion, thank you.
Carolyn - I've read all the Dark Hunters already or I would jump on those - loved them!
Cherra - I guess only my friends can see the list so I'm sending you and friend invite. :)
Thanks for the suggestions!!
LooLoo wrote: ..."Looloo, here are a few God/Goddess/Immortals suggestions. Some of these are on your shelves, and some are not. I would think that a lot of the books on your shelf would classify as "Immortal".
American Gods, Neverwhere A Novel, Anansi Boys, Norse Code, The Night Life of the Gods, Goddess of the Sea, Dazzling Brightness.
My friend just finished this one and it looks really cute: Gods Behaving Badly A Novel
A few YA options might be: Radiant Darkness, Pandora Gets Jealous, The Lightning Thief,Temping Fate, Quiver, The Firebrand Nobody's Princess & Nobody's Prize.
For Immortals:
Deep Kiss of Winter, Pleasure of a Dark Prince, My Immortal, My Immortal Protector, My Immortal Highlander,
There's a book called Dogs and Goddesses which is not too bad. It's interesting at least especially since Jennifer Crusie is new to pnr and Lani Diane Rich seems to not do pnr at all. I think I really like Anne Stuart. She did The Unfortunate Miss Fortunes with Crusie as well and I know from having read everything Crusie has ever written which characters she wrote and I can only assume that since I really liked one of the other characters in each book for similar reasons, they must be Anne Stuart.
Okay here is my list. I'm not 100% certain that each book really does fit into the category so if anyone who has read these books can tell me if I have mislabeled them let me know.1. vampires - Lover Unbound (couldn't help myself, just had to get at least one BDB book in the list!)
2. werewolves - Wolf at the Door
3. shifters - Magic Bites
4. gods/goddesses/immortals - Cast in Courtlight
5. demons/angels - Jovah's Angel
6. witches/warlocks/sorcerers/mages - Witchling
7. fae/fairies - Queen of Song and Souls
8. aliens/space cowboys/space adventurers/space mercenaries - Slave to Sensation
9. psychics/ghosts/humans with paranormal abilities - Soulless
10. hunters/warriors/slayers/guardians - The Hunger Games
[image error]
I'm not sure that Slave to Sensation would count for aliens, but I might be wrong. You'd have to ask Yz about that one.
Ahrcadia ~(Fhantasie)~ wrote: "I'm not sure that Slave to Sensation would count for aliens, but I might be wrong. You'd have to ask Yz about that one."Yeah I'm super fuzzy about that one as well. I really guessed mostly since its set far in the future.
I can see where you might have been confused, but Singh's Slave to Sensation is more of a category 2, 3 or 9 fit.

Kim Harrison has a great series...Dead Witch Walking the Rachel Morgan series. This also had were and vamps. I do believe the were comes later in the series.
