Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) Well this is the Wild Things group, yet there is no Wild Things discussion board; so, I thought I would start one since I just finished Dave Egger's book and Maurice Sendak's picture book is one of my all time favorites!

So- discuss away! :)

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) Have you seen the movie? What did you think?

If you believed that it was cinematic art, like I did, or thought it would be better as a book, like my husband did, you should read The Wild Things by Dave Eggers.

This novel follows the adventure of Max as he encounters the Wild Things and become their king. Dave Eggers combined Maurice Sendak's original idea with Spike Jonze's film with his own ideas to make this brilliant piece of literature. By taking brilliance from all three minds, Eggers makes a novel which is an instant classic.

This "for all" novel revolves around Max just as the film and picture book do, but in the novel, Max's character is unraveled and explained so much more that his actions do not seem so extreme. Max is a protagonist that pulls at my heart strings!

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) Has anyone read Dave Egger's book yet?
How about the movie? Did you like it?

message 4: by Kandice (new)

Kandice I've seen the movie 3 times and my daughter and I are addicted to all things Max and Carol! We have the books, including Eggers, t-shirts, jackets, magnets, pretty much anything we can get our grubby little hands on!

My favorite thing about the movie was the hours long discussion it started when I took all three of my children to see it the first time. It's a DEEP movie, and there is so much to explore, talk about and try to understand.

I loved the book as a child, but I adore this movie! I can't wait for it to come out on DVD.

Kellee Moye (kelleemoye) I am so glad to hear that children, not just adults, enjoyed the movie. I thought it was so touching and perfect, but I hadn't heard much about children going to see it.
Carol IS the best. He was my favorite even before he had a name :)
Have you read the Eggers book yet? It is even better than the book in my opinion. It adds even more depth to the story. It would be a great read aloud.
Do you know if there is a DVD release date yet?
