Travis | 1 comments Hello all - general question about Koontz. I am wondering if there are any Dean Koontz books that deal with any of the following topics: strangulation, especially by garrotte; burying/dumping a body in the woods, especially concealed in a tarp; using drain cleaner or other acid to disfigure a body (dental records, fingerprints, or any other way to interfere with identification); or dumping garbage bags full of evidence in a body of water? Thanks!

Barbara | 486 comments Planning a murder Travis?? Lol
Sounds like you need to read some of those forensic case authors!!
I can't think of a Koontz book with that in it.....unless it was one of his very early ones that I don't remember well anymore.....like Funhouse??

Thanks Travis :-) Velocity has a body in a tarp but generally Dean Koontz doesn't get into this aspect as far as I can remember. I have read Patricia Cornwell and Tess Gerritsen - I'd recommend them.

The Husband does have some fun crime scene manipulation involving planted blood and fingerprint evidence.

Jimmie | 8 comments My name is Jim, from Texas. I discovered Dean Koontz in the early 90's. Strangers, Soul Survivor and Hideway were my first Koontz books. I'm looking to getting back into enjoying more Koontz books.

I purchased the Frankenstein graphic novel a few weeks ago. That is good timing since the group will start this series in September. Or maybe that was a sign.

I look forward to expanding my Dean Koontz reading experience with this group. Thank you moderators for hosting this group and thank you group members for welcoming me to the group.

Diane Lynch (dianedesmarrstlynch) | 486 comments Hi Jim. I'm looking forward to Frankenstein series also. I've read a lot of Koontz's books but not that series. I've had Prodigal Son loaded on my Kindle for about a year. (Sept. Book). So many books. So little time. Welcome to a great group.

Welcome to Koontzland Julia! Strangers is excellent. You have good taste in Koontz Fiction. Life Expectancy is my very favorite.

We are currently reading The Frankenstein Series as a group and you can join us anytime between now and January to catch up. We are reading one book each month for the next five months. September is book one, Prodigal Son.

Stephanie Newhouse Hello, my name is Stephanie and I first read Dean Koontz at 6 years old (The Face of Fear) and I haven't been able to get enough since! I joined this group because I think he's a brilliant author, and I want to be a part of a group that generally agrees =)

P.S. I created a Dean Koontz quiz since one wasn't available yet on GR. Feel free to check it out and tell me what you think (it's the first quiz I made so I'm open to all comments).

Thanks!

If you go to quizzes, and then search, type in Dean Koontz. It's called "Dean Koontz Quiz (Intermediate)."

I hope you like it!

Thank you for being so welcoming!! I LOVE Dean Koontz, and I'm glad I finally found "my people." :) I own about 25 of his novels. Thank you for telling me about the featured book. I haven't read that series yet, so I might have to sit out of those discussions for a bit.

I'm glad you liked the quiz!

Welcome Chris! :-)

Good thing you mentioned "mom" because I immediately saw the name Chris and thought "male", even though I work with a woman named Chris everyday.

We are currently re-reading Dean Koontz's Frankenstein Series through January.

Nice to meet another fan. I just joined too!

Tera (TheBookishAbyss) This is crazy, I have been a member on Goodreads since 2008 and a Koontz fan since 1983 and I have never thought to look for a group on here! At any rate, Koontz hooked me at the age of 9 when I "borrowed" my grandmother's copy of Phantoms that had just come out. From the completion of that book on, I have been a devoted fan. My grandmother would buy me a hardcover copy of his books for Christmas and birthdays every year until she passed away 10 years ago. I'll admit that I have not been as good at keeping up on his newest releases on my own, but I do have a rather extensive collection...even some under his pen name ;0) I am excited to have discovered this group!

Tera Marie, that is a great story on your introduction to Dean Koontz. You can continue to give your grandmother service by continuing your reading of Koontz books. I'm sad your grandmother has passed away. So sorry for your loss. I was touched by your story. Thank you for sharing.

Michael Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to this group and am excited to have found it. I hope to be able to get to know some fellow Koontz fans. I have been reading Dean Koontz for about two years now I think and have read maybe a little over thirty of his books. I am a huge fan and I'm trying to read all of his books. Dean is such a nice guy, I wrote him last year and he sent me a signed and inscribed copy of the memoir of trixie. Well I hope everyone has a great day, and it's good to have found this group.

Thank you to everyone who has voted on the group poll to choose our March Group Read. This poll is getting more activity than usual and the poll is extremely close between The Taking and Dark Rivers of the Heart. If you are able to get the poll to end in a tie, we will feature both titles in March.

If you haven't yet voted or would like to change your vote there is still time. The poll will end at the end of January and the winning title will be announced at the beginning of February with one month to get the title.

The Servants of Twilight is our February Group Read.

Matthew | 183 comments Hellooo everybody! My name's Matt and I've been a Koontz reader for over 20 years now. My favorite tale of his is The Bad Place. I'm such a fan I've even managed to read a few titles form his lengthy out of publication list…I just read Nightmare Journey and found it very entertaining. Also read Hanging On (has a couple hilarious scenes in it) and Dragonfly. Anyone else gotten their hands on any vintage Koontz?

I haven't read any of the vintage Koontz myself. I have read Gerda's book A Darker Heritage and I own The Haunted Earth.

Here is a discussion thread about the Out of Print titles which you may find interesting/helpful:
