I have read both but I don't think they are comparable. Yes they both have a strong female lead, but the story lines are so diverse from one another. Mortal instruments is more entangled in its story line by far than Twilight. When I wrote Duplicity I kept the storylines well defined, I felt the concepts of duplicity Emily and Areona shared would be enough for the reader to get their head around.

Me quedo con The Mortal Instruments. De verdad hacía falta preguntar? Cassandra Clara es la primera que mezclando cada ser sobrenatural consigue crear un mundo realmente genial, mientras que crepúslo tira más a los vampiro algo que esta muy de moda, y que, desgraciadamente se esta conbirtiendo en un tópico.
Finalmente me quedo con The Mortal Instruments, y que conste que la respuesta no la he pensado más de un segundo.

TMI is better because its so much more then the romance but still doesn't take away from it. I love both series. Heck twilight is what got me into reading. But the way TMI was written and just the basis of the characters was just better in my opinion. Cassandra Clare works hard to give you all the info but avoid just talking and giving unneeded extra stuff where as Stephanie Meyer sometimes has the tendency to over explain and make things longer then needed. And as many have already said TMI isn't centered around the romance so if there isn't a part of the romance in it it's ok because there are other things to accomplish besides the romance of it all , unlike in new moon how most readers had to kill themselves to get through it till a romance movement point in the story. So even though both stories are great. In my opinion TMI is better

TMI. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the Twilight Series and I will always consider it a fun read. But The Mortal Instruments is written better, there's a lot more to the story than "which guy am I going to choose." Plus I think Clary is a better protagonist than Bella.

I have read both series. The mortal instruments is AT LEAST 20x better than Twilight. Not only are the characters way better, but I could actually see the depth of each characters personality. I feel that Twilight has boring characters, that are frankly, just cheesy. I also LOVE Cassandra Clare's way of writing. the use of humor and feeling in each sentence is absolutely stunning. TMI all the way!

Bella in Twilight was too....awful....a protagonist for me. She is completely ignorant and STUPID!

i agree MORTAL INSTRUMENTS is much, much better it has everything from action, romance, family, intrigue etc. I also love how the character develop. so YES, it's MI for me hands down, though i do enjoy Twilight.

I love both of these series, I think the reason most people don't like Twilight is because they expect it to be an action/adventure story when it's really just a romance. Now, I don't like how Bella HAS to have a man, but I think overall both books were a success.

I have to say Mortal Instruments. I love the action, the romance and the characters. None of them are alike. But if you go on the writers, again I would have to say Mortal Instruments because Cassandra Clare is so talented and she is great at plot writing. However, Stephanie Meyer is great at introducing characters and I love that series also.
