Mortal Instruments or Twilight
it is not, but I cannot excuse myself and my friends from talkin' bout the twilight while reading the Mortal instruments..:)
Obviously its Mortal Instruments. The plot is much more thought-through, and yeah... Cassandra can actually write where Stephenie clearly cannot :b
I feel kinda sorry for stephanie though. I mean when i read the books, like i dunno how long before the movie came out, i thought, oh this book is alright, not too bad. And then came Edward and Bella and everything just went down the toilet.. and i grew to just dislike twilight, poor steph...(notice i didn't say jacob, oh except when he had long hair i was like WTF?? but without the hair, or the top :P, twas completely fine...)
Mortal Instruments, most definitely!! You can't even compare them!
So most people if not the majority of the people here voted MI. Cool great series. Love the books. Twilight though wasn't greatly written, but again great series. How you feel it wasn't original eludes me because well not many Vampire stories I've read (and I’ve read many) I've never read about them sparkling. My point is I was never a big fan of Breaking Dawn, but loved the other three. As for MI well, the suggested incest kind of made me not like it. I always knew they couldn't be brother and sister, but the fact was until the end of the third book it felt like the author promoted those actions. So if I had to pick, well then I'd pick neither and tell you to read Sookie Stackhouse for your Vampire/Werewolf fill, and Fallen or Hush, Hush for your angel fill.

There's so much more - the whole world, the different characters, well... the story-line outside of the looooove!
Which is also exactly what Twilight is missing. The love between Bella and Edward is amazingly described, I'll admit that, but that is also the only thing Twilight has. Its poorly written with a horrible storyline that comes across really boring.
Also I might add that I love how the vampires and werewolves are described in TMI. Much more real. They are the true vampires for me. I love it!

omg isnt it the most obvious question in the world? i just read AAAALLLLLLLLL of these comments and i think only one voted for twilight but im not sure cuz it wasnt very well expressed it said somethin about needing coffee so i dunno what thats all about but anyways- MORTAL INSTRUMENTS TILL DEATH AND AFTER THAT EVEN!!!!!! :)
Def TMI series!!!! When I first read City of bones the first thing I said was this blew Twilight out of the water!:) That being said, I still love Twilight:)
It is not even a competition. Only readers who haven't read Mortal Instruments would choose Twilight...

I think Mortal Instruments is better too. I LOVE all the characters! Magnus and Jace crack me up. I really like seeing the intertwining between this series (mainly starting with Fallen Angels) and the Clockwork Series. Very interesting!! Speaking of Fallen Angels....was that an insane ending or what!?!

I think TMI is WAY better than Twilight!!! At least TMI has an actual plot(s?) unlike Twilight.

Go Cassandra Clare! THE MI all the way. I loved each character so much, but in Twilight i felt like smacking each character every other sentence. IN TMI, i only wanted to do a friendly smack because it was really good writing and they would make realistic choices that you knew were the wrong ones, but made the books interesting. Go CITY OF GLASS! Can't wait til City of Lost Souls. I hope it is better than CoFA because CoFA was only okay. City of Glass totally best book in the series.
I agree, CoFA wasn't that great, but City of Glass was amazing! Fingers crossed for CoLS to be just as good as the first three!
No offense Stephenie Meyer but... Twilight doesn't even stand a chance against TMI... totally the best series EVER for me!!! :D

I could not believe that ending in CoFA!! Made me angry, just like the Jace/Clary controversy (don't want to spoil for people who haven't read yet). Can't wait to see how she resolves it...cuz she better! lol. Loved how the characters interminged with Clockwork Angel though.

Mortal Instruments is by far better! The characters are much more interesting and charismatic. I couldn't put the books down!

i enjoed both books none really is better then the other its just tatste in book/writng style.

OMG!!! Obviously the Mortal Instruments. Anything can beat Twilight. On deviant art there is this stamp that says Änd then Katniss shot Bella" referring to the main hunger games character and the spoof movie Vampires suck. Hell, even mockingjay (the last Hunger Games) beats Twilight and I hate that book with a passion

Mortal Instruments is way better than twilight since there are no glittering shadowhunters... among other obvious reasons ;)
why does every one compare books to twilight or harrypotter it gets annoying all boks r original but though i nvr red twilight it seemed dumb and cliche but yea MI

MORTAL INSTRUMENT will get my vote , there is just so much more going on Dont get me wrong i love TWILIGHT SAGA but MI was just so much better! I just hope it does well so they can do Clockwork Angel also!!
I think I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I think I prefer Twilight. Saying that, don't linch me but I haven't read the new City of Ashes yet. I just feel Twilight is a little older than MI which suits me better.
