Let me know how you like this one, Betsy. I couldn't get into it and brought it back to the library.

Sera | 1325 comments I started Station Eleven last night.

I have also been listening to Those Who Wish Me Dead on audio.

I continue to trek through War and Peace. I have about 400 pages to go.

Betsy (ebburtis) | 1291 comments Also started A Dog's Purpose. I went to the beach today and needed a real book since it is hard to read the iPad in such bright sunlight. It's very cute so far.

I've got it on my bookshelf too, but haven't gotten around to reading it. Everyone I know who has read it has loved it.

It was my book discussion's book for tonight. We all really liked it. I'd never heard of it until it was chosen for our read.

I couldn't get into Buried Giant on audio. As with many books, I think it may be a timing thing, so I'll likely try again at some point. Looking forward to hearing what you think. I LOVE Crossing to Safety.

message 2678: by Sera (new)

Sera | 1325 comments Crossing to Safety is great!

The Buried Giant is challenging on audio. I started the last disc this morning. The subject matter is atypical because it is as if Ishiguro tried to write a fantasy book for adults. I am not sure that he fully succeeded. Depending on the ending, right now, it looks like a 3 star read for me.

Betsy (ebburtis) | 1291 comments Started Only Time Will Tell on audio. I used to LOVE Archer's books, but it has been a really long time since I've read one, so I'll see how I like it.

Also started The Stranger for my November book group. We're supposed to also be reading The Meursault Investigation but my library doesn't have it and I think because it is new, I can't request an interlibrary loan. I'm not that excited about the book to actually buy this one, so I may just stick with the Stranger and not do the companion piece.

message 2694: by Linda (new)

Linda | 1693 comments Wow am I behind. I'm listening to Jesus: A Pilgrimage at home and The Casual Vacancy in the car. I'm reading Inside the O'Briens as on e-book when I have Wi-Fi (it's part of a survey and I have to check in) and The Man Who Was Thursday: A Nightmare for my at home book.

I'm trying to finish things that I've been in the middle of for far too long.

message 2698: by Betsy (new)

Betsy (ebburtis) | 1291 comments Started Kitchens of the Great Midwest on audio. I had started reading it when it first came out and didn't care for it, but I wanted to give it another shot since so many seem to love it. So I'm trying it on audio and I am liking it better. It's quirkiness works better on audio for me.

Also started Hostage Taker in hardcover. I won this in a giveaway. Good so far.
