What book did you just start?
LynnB wrote: "Started Orhan's Inheritance, historical fiction set both in the Ottoman Empire during the Armenian genocide and set in modern times. I like it so far."You are going to love it Lynn :-)
I had 6 hours of driving over the last couple of days, so started North of Boston on audio. I was feeling somewhat daunted by the 25 parts, so wanted to listen when I had a good chunk of time on the road. Turns out that each part is a chapter and are mostly very short, some as few as 12 minutes. It's pretty good so far.
I recently started Ordinary Grace on audio. I am really enjoying it so far. By the way, I saw it in Bookmarks Magazine :)
Started All Day and a Night on audio. I don't usually start a series midway through, but this was available at the downloadable library so I thought I give it a try.
After multiple attempts to win The Book of Speculation
in the giveaways with no avail, I was contacted that my request for the library copy had come in. I could not be more elated with the news, so begins, hopefully, a good read!
Started The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber on audio. The narrator is very good with the different accents. I completely loved Faber's The Crimson Petal and the White so I've been excited about reading this new one. VERY different from Crimson, but good so far.
I started A Little Life. It's very good so far. The writing reminds me of Julian Barnes a bit. Very detailed, not a lot of dialogue. But I'm not very far into it, so that may change.
I recently started Homer & Langley and Empty Mansions: The Mysterious Life of Huguette Clark and the Spending of a Great American Fortune. Both are very good so far.
I've just started Saint Mazie which is one of those books I'm not quite sure will be good or not, but I'm finally getting a feel for the story. It bounces around in viewpoint which took a bit to learn to follow.
I started The Little Paris Bookshop
on audio. So far enjoying Monsieur Perdu's book barge on the Seine. Quel livre livresque!(What a bookish book!). Pardon, trying to immerse in the total Paris experience of this story and couldn't resist.
I started Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage on audio. It didn't really grab me so I stopped that and started Luckiest Girl Alive. They're calling it the new Gone Girl, but that seems to be what the call every new book with a female antihero/unreliable narrator. Time will tell.

I'm sure most everyone has gotten their latest issue in the mail. I will do the poll for the month this weekend. I figured there wasn't a real rush - we never seem to read the book we pick anyway!

Thanks Betsy. It is a harrowing story and parts are very difficult to read but I am very engaged and enjoying so far.
I loved A Man Called Ove! This book isn't for everyone; I wasn't sure it was for me at first. And yet, after crying through the last 100 pages, I fell in love. Ove's anger tumbles out on every page initially. Yet, I kept with him while subtly he changes -- or what I saw changed. Ove is a man of "firm principles," a man of structure and routine; he calls people as he sees them -- literally and figuratively. And he cares. And that is the hidden treasure in these pages.

Click on that and you'll be there. Welcome!

Started The Buried Giant on audio. Interesting so far - written almost as a fairy tale. Kazuo Ishiguro certainly crossed genres.
