I already have that on my TBR, so I'll be interested in seeing your comments on it.

message 2608: by Betsy (new)

Betsy (ebburtis) | 1291 comments I had 6 hours of driving over the last couple of days, so started North of Boston on audio. I was feeling somewhat daunted by the 25 parts, so wanted to listen when I had a good chunk of time on the road. Turns out that each part is a chapter and are mostly very short, some as few as 12 minutes. It's pretty good so far.

message 2615: by Betsy (new)

Betsy (ebburtis) | 1291 comments Started All Day and a Night on audio. I don't usually start a series midway through, but this was available at the downloadable library so I thought I give it a try.

message 2616: by Cathy (new)

Cathy | 482 comments After multiple attempts to win The Book of Speculation The Book of Speculation by Erika Swyler in the giveaways with no avail, I was contacted that my request for the library copy had come in. I could not be more elated with the news, so begins, hopefully, a good read!

message 2617: by Betsy (new)

Betsy (ebburtis) | 1291 comments Started The Book of Strange New Things by Michel Faber on audio. The narrator is very good with the different accents. I completely loved Faber's The Crimson Petal and the White so I've been excited about reading this new one. VERY different from Crimson, but good so far.

Linda | 1693 comments A Dog's Journey on audio and Katherine Carlyle for my eyes.

Melanie I am going to start The Kitchen House today.

message 2623: by Betsy (new)

Betsy (ebburtis) | 1291 comments I started A Little Life. It's very good so far. The writing reminds me of Julian Barnes a bit. Very detailed, not a lot of dialogue. But I'm not very far into it, so that may change.

message 2625: by LynnB (new)

LynnB I've just started Saint Mazie which is one of those books I'm not quite sure will be good or not, but I'm finally getting a feel for the story. It bounces around in viewpoint which took a bit to learn to follow.

message 2626: by Cathy (new)

Cathy | 482 comments I started The Little Paris Bookshop The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George on audio. So far enjoying Monsieur Perdu's book barge on the Seine. Quel livre livresque!(What a bookish book!). Pardon, trying to immerse in the total Paris experience of this story and couldn't resist.

Patti | 137 comments I just started The Martian by Andy Wier.

message 2629: by Betsy (new)

Betsy (ebburtis) | 1291 comments I started Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage on audio. It didn't really grab me so I stopped that and started Luckiest Girl Alive. They're calling it the new Gone Girl, but that seems to be what the call every new book with a female antihero/unreliable narrator. Time will tell.

Thanks Betsy. It is a harrowing story and parts are very difficult to read but I am very engaged and enjoying so far.

Becky (beckymurr) I am reading 2 books, one physical & the other on my Kindle- The Precious One The Precious One by Marisa de los Santos
A Man Called Ove A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman

message 2637: by Laurie (new)

Laurie (laurielh) | 93 comments I loved A Man Called Ove! This book isn't for everyone; I wasn't sure it was for me at first. And yet, after crying through the last 100 pages, I fell in love. Ove's anger tumbles out on every page initially. Yet, I kept with him while subtly he changes -- or what I saw changed. Ove is a man of "firm principles," a man of structure and routine; he calls people as he sees them -- literally and figuratively. And he cares. And that is the hidden treasure in these pages.
