I'm about 5 chapters into
. I am really liking it...I'm thinking I'm going to see several different stories in one book that are going on during an event.

I just caved and started reading
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Honestly, the plot doesn't sound interesting to me at all and it's not something I would ever typically pick up to read. So many people I know have raved about it, though, that I thought I would give it a try. It remains to be seen if I actually stick with it!
I'm just starting
Major Pettigrew's Last Stand. I've heard such good things about it, I'm really looking forward to it!

The first 50-60 pages are very slow. Once the character of Lisbeth gets going, it is fabulous and goes very quickly.

Cathy wrote: "I'm just starting

Jaime wrote: "I just caved and started reading

I started it once and took it back to the library and was prodded into reading it again. After wading through the first 50 or so pages, I discovered a wonderfully written, literary mystery. I just finished it and can't wait to read the next two books. It is graphic at times (the original title is Men Who Hate Women) so be prepared.
Stephanie wrote: "Jaime wrote: "I just caved and started reading

I started Broken for You
. Wow, it's interesting. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get into it at first, but after the first few chapters it really grabbed me.

I just started reading
Still Alicefor my July book group meeting. It's about a 50 yo Harvard professor who is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimers. It's like watching a train wreck - upsetting, but I can't pull myself away. One of my greatest fears is getting Alzheimers, so this is really pushing my buttons.

After witnessing my mother's losing battle with Alzheimers, this is one topic that I can't deal with in literature.

I started
Hidden Wives which is a really fantastic first novel by Claire Avery about a polygamist sect. It is a surprising page-turner with characters you root for from page one. I am really enjoying the book.
Sue in FL wrote: "On audio I just began Homer and Langley

by Stepha..."I did "Homer and Langley" on audio last month and really enjoyed it. It was our bookclub selection for June. Hope that you enjoy it and would be happy to hear your thoughts on it.
I just started The Map of True Places by Brunonia Barry and have the audio of Still Alice by Lisa Genova while quilting tomorrow...
In The Garden Of The North American Martyrs: Stories
Not sure where this came from (Swaptree? Goodwill? Yard sale?) but I am really enjoying it. Makes me want to try to write a short story. I finished Such a Pretty Fat (Jen Lancaster), started wandering around the house looking for my next read, and stumbled on a gem.
I am starting Mudbound
by Hilary Jordan and on audio I am beginning Major Pettigrew's Last Stand
by Helen Simonson.sue in fl
Kathryn wrote: "I just started The Map of True Places by Brunonia Barry and have the audio of Still Alice by Lisa Genova while quilting tomorrow..."You're in for a treat with both of these books. They're wonderful!

I'm almost finished "Major Pettigrew", and I'm loving it!
I've just finished up some rather heavy and thought provoking books, so I just started The Fixer Upper: A Novel by Mary Kay Andrews as a break. Mary Kay Andrews is one of my guilty pleasures; her books are always entertaining and quick.
LynnB wrote: "I'm reading the classic
The Country of the Pointed Firs and Other Stories by Sarah Orne Jewett."Let me know what you think -- I bought this book a couple of years ago and just remembered I have it in a stack of "to be read" books :)
I'm 4 chapters into
The Girl Who Fell From the Sky by Heidi W. Durrow and am also starting
Seaworthy: A Swordboat Captain Returns to the Sea by Linda Greenlaw.
After reading so many great comments here about The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox, I started it today. The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox

Betsy, I read this a few months ago and would love to know what you think of it once you're done! I remember it being a bit of a page-turner for me.

The second was was more brutal in my opinion. It's usually not my cup of tea, but I am going to read the third one because I like the characters and want to see what happens.

Thanks, Sara and Christine. There are so many other books on my "to read" list, I'll just skip those.
