Betsy (ebburtis) | 1291 comments Tonight I'm starting The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker which is my pick for our January book group. I know it's early but I was ale to get it from the e-library. Also starting to read The Complete Grimm's Fairy Tales by Jacob Ludwig Karl Grimm because it is the 200th anniversary of their publication in December and I thought it would be fun to read them. You can get it as a free download from Amazon since it is a public domain book.

Isn't this one part of a series?

message 1577: by Robin P (new)

Robin P There are some sequels to Lonesome Dove but I don't think they compare. It took me a little bit to get into the cowboy culture but it's really a book about being human.

Yes, it is a series, but this was the first one written. So far it's good, but it's long. I'm in charge of the local Friends of the Library Annual Sale this upcoming weekend, so I haven't had a lot of reading time. It will be nice when it's over!

Sera | 1325 comments I'm starting to get into the Western genre. I may need to check Lonesome Dove out. The Chunkster group is reading it now but I am overly committed as it is. I'm going to mark it and check it out down the road.

Lynn, I'm sure that the sale will be great! But I understand how you will be happy to get back to your regular schedule :)

LynnB Sera wrote: "Nice mix, Lynn! I know that you've been busy. How did the book sale go?"

We topped our highest income ever at the sale!! Topped it by $500 and that's pretty good when you're selling used books at $.50 and $1 each. I'm glad it's over for this year, though. It's a lot of work to put on.
