Glad to hear that you are enjoying Sharyn McCrumb's audiobook. I enjoyed her novel The Ballad of Frankie Silver (Ballad Mystery, #5) by Sharyn McCrumb on audio and hope to read or listen to another of her novels. This is one that I may get to. I am always encouraged to add another book to my TBR list by all the wonderful and positive reviews of this group.

I was about a quarter of the way through it and yesterday something happened to my ipod and I had to restore to original settings, so I lost the book :( I need to see if I can reload it.

I also started The Food of a Younger Land The WPA's Portrait of Food in Pre-World War II America by Mark Kurlansky on audio. It's quite interesting.

Linda | 1693 comments I've just started listening to Drama An Actor's Education by John Lithgow by John Lithgow. He is an excellent writer and he is the narrator and doing, of course, an excellent job.

I just started reading The Memory of All That George Gershwin, Kay Swift, and My Family's Legacy of Infidelities by Katharine Weber which ties in perfectly with an exhibit at UU which opened yesterday on Jewish songwriter's contributions to culture.

I just finished Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese . It started a little slowly but went very fast after about the first 100 pages - a very good book!

I think it is interesting how we each perceive a book differently. This one did not take me 100 pages. However, as much as I enjoyed this one, I didn't feel it was one I would recommend to anybody or everybody (like The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern ).

Sera | 1325 comments I started The Successful Child What Parents Can Do to Help Kids Turn Out Well by William Sears over the weekend, since I realized that I've been lax in reading about this topic for far too many months now. It's actually off to a good start, even though I have issues with some of Dr. Sears ideas.

I'm starting Nightwoods tonight. This one has been calling me since it's publication so I picked it up when I saw it available at the library.

Victoria (vicki_c) Just started Blackout. I've heard complaints that it was too much of a cliff-hanger, but now the sequel is out, so I guess that won't be too much of a problem. Now - can I finish it before it's due back to the library on Monday? Read, read, read!

It is sad and it's gritty, but I thought overall it was a very good story. FYI, though -- there are some very hard parts in it.

message 1086: by Barb (new)

Barb I've just started V is for Vengeance (Kinsey Millhone, #22) by Sue Grafton . I know a lot of folks who've given up on this series, but I have too much invested in it to give up on it now.

I'm listening to it on audio, but I'm probably about 80 pages in. I like it, but it's going to be tough to get through.

Oh no! Ok, well depending on where things are headed, I'll skip the details of the tough parts. I already did so this morning with a part of the horse training section. I got it so I feel no need to keep horrible images in my head related to it.

I read it this month and gave it four stars. While not a very long or difficult read, there was an interesting story that was told.
