. 1/2 way done already and I'm scared. Really good. I'm almost afraid to keep reading, but can't put it down.

I'm excited. Just picked up the new book,
by Alice Hoffman. It's had some great reviews. I'll be starting after I finish my current book.
I started
today on audio. It is very cool. If the rest of the book is like the first few chapters, this one could be my favorite book of year.
I just started (although 1/2 done already) Mystic River. Very good. This is my 2nd Lehane book, I have just discovered him. I did see the movie of this a long time ago, but I find I'm not remembering a lot of the details, and the book is better.

My weekend reading consists of
and
. Now to start plotting what I'm going to load on my Nook for St. Maarten next week.

I'm looking forward to it! I'm leaving next Thursday for a week with a friend (and fellow book club member) and her husband.

Finally finished the first 32 pages in State of Wonder by Ann Patchett. Highly recommended by friends and so far, pretty good.
I couldn't get into
, so I returned it to the library for the next person on the Holds list. I'll probably try it again at another point in time, perhaps when there's no such a long waiting list for the book. In the meantime, I started
. I'm only about 50 pages into it, but it's already got me hooked!

.
I went to the library this morning and Eureka!, they had several books I've really been wanting to read including
and
and several others as well. I'm a tingle just contemplating which one to read first. And from reading Lisa's post about the new issue of bookmarks, I also have that to look forward to. Can't wait.
Juny wrote: "I just started the Fang Family, i don't even know what's it about, but i had placed it on hold."I don't know anything about it either but keep us posted because it has appeared on some notable lists.
I've started
for my November F2F group. I may have to pick up something really light to break up the really depressing content.
I'm reading
which I hadn't heard about, but just picked up at my local indie bookstore. It's about a black man born in 1863 who, when he grows up, heads north and west, joins the US Cavalry, fights the Indians and in the Philippines -- and eventually is sent to guard the new Yosemite National Park. Very good and interesting. It has some viewpoints I hadn't thought about before. Could be a very good book club book. The author is a ranger at Yosemite.
I started listening to
on my 3 hr ride (each way) to my mom's this past weekend. I don't read a lot of cozy mysteries and this reminded me why. I will finish it, but probably won't race to read another by the author even though there are some interesting characters.
I just started
by Kate Brian. I read a bit of YA now and then, and I enjoy this series set in a New England private school.
I found this book in my Kindle library and couldn't figure out how it got there, then I read somewhere else that it had been a free Kindle book on Amazon. I guess I bought it then! Anyway ...I just started
Hostile Witness. I'm only about 40 pages in - it is definitely keeping my attention. I don't think it's going to win any prizes or anything and could use a better editor/proofreader, but hey, it was free. Seems like your typical legal pot-boiler type novel - entertaining but probably nothing of substance.

Juny wrote: "I just started the Fang Family, i don't even know what's it about, but i had placed it on hold."I recently downloaded this to my Nook, so I'll be anxious to hear what you think about it. Not sure how long it will take me to get to it.
I just started
today. I can't believe that it's taken me this long to get to the second book in this series. I read the first one as soon as it was published. Seriously - where does time go?
I started
on audio, and I am loving it. I can't believe that I had no knowledge of Sarah Addison Allen's works. Another bow to GR.
Sera wrote: "I started

I guess I'm starting The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks since I just got through my hold @ the library. I've read the intro so far!I also started the audio version of Bossypants over the weekend - very funny!

Two great books, Victoria - enjoy!
Sera wrote: "I started

Another bow to GR."I read this on my kindle last year and loved the magical elements in this story. It is the only book I have read by this author, but hope to read another one day. Glad to hear you are enjoying it.
