I just started
which seems like a good summer read. I like humor and parody when they are subtle and not overly cynical - we'll see.

. Who can resist a main character who loves cheese puffs? :-)"Haha! My sentiments exactly! I found that irresistible. It also made me really want to munch on some cheese curls myself. Hope you enjoy the book as much as I did.

I've heard great things about this book and so far, it's very interesting. I'll let you know how I feel about the big twist once I finish the book. It's going to take me 2-3 weeks to get through it on audio.
I have 2 books in front of me
&
, the first is a new one & the second has been on my list for a long time...I will decide shortly!
Just started
by Tiffany Baker on audio. I like the narrator, Carrington McDuffie (isn't that a great name?!), who also read one part in The Quickening by Michelle Hoover and also reads a few other books I have on my TBR pile.
I just started
The main character spent her first 18 years in foster care so already I'm saddened by the book but I think it's leading toward a hopeful ending. Also just got
from the library. I try to read my own books over the summer but so many of you have talked about this book I had put it on the top of my list so when I saw it, I grabbed it.

I finished Peony in Love, Becky. And I liked it, giving it 4 stars. The story was different, much of it from the POV of the Chinese spirit world.

I gave it 3-would have given it 3.5 if I could have. I liked it will enough, very beautiful writing. I think I may read another of her books...

was the best.

I agree, Lynn. Even though I've really enjoyed each of her books (I've read 4 so far), this one really was the best.

It is excellent! I read it last month.
Starting
. It certainly wasn't at the top of my list and I didn't read the first one, but I've heard some good buzz on it and it became available as a digital book at my downloadable library. So here we are.

Another great review. Looks like I'll have to try to squeeze this one, too. How am I going to continue to juggle all of these books?

I LOVED this book-wow....the format drew me right in, it took a few pages but after that I loved how one sister told the story....I had the who figured out near the end but I still let out a few gasps....great book!!
5 Stars!
Lots of 5 stars & lots of 1 stars....LOL, that's why there are many books to pick from!!

I'm making this one a must read this fall!
I'm reading
Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide. It's about the lives of women in 3rd world countries, which in most books is usually the same kind of story over and over, but these are individual stories of women in different situations and have given me new insight in viewpoint on some issues. I'm about 3/4 done with it, but would recommend it highly to anyone interested in this subject.
Becky wrote: "I started My Reading Life
, I love Pat Conroy & so far I am loving this little memoir..."I got this for Christmas and enjoyed it.
Just started
today, I am currently reading
and listening to
both by James Patterson, I have to put one of them down - my murders are running into each other!!!!

, so I'll be watching for your review. I hope it's as good as her first book.
Linda wrote: "Just started

. I read it this summer for my Nook book club. It gives you something to contemplate. I haven't gotten to
yet, but hope to soon.
I am a James Patterson fan and I am enjoying it - I just had to stop for a bit - having 2 James Patterson books going is a little much.....
I just started
this is the sequel to
by Kate Furnivall. The covers are sort of misleading. These are historical novels set in China and Russian in the late 1920's.
This book is included in the United Methodist Women's Reading Program. It's very good! I'm referring to Half the Sky.
Karen wrote: "Don't read two books at the same time very often but I am now.
and
."I read Swamplandia! on audio and enjoyed it. I tried to start A Secret Kept on audio, but I think it was me, and I just couldn't seem to get into it. I await your review of it. Maybe I will give it another try. I loved and read Sarah's Key in 2009. I went with a friend to see the movie last evening and found it just as powerful and well done as the novel.
Started
for a upcoming bookclub. I have also begun
on audio. It is interesting that Ursula Hegi is doing the reading of her own novel. It gives it an authentic German-feeling with her accent....very atmospheric. Sadly, I must admit I have not read her previous
, which is always highly raved about and on many to-read lists.
