What did you think of Committed A Skeptic Makes Peace with Marriage by Elizabeth Gilbert LynnB? I finished Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert earlier in the week, and I'm curious about the follow-up.

I haven't done my review yet, but basically I thought it was quite fascinating as she talked about her research on marriage --- As to her own story as she relates it throughout the book, I get the feeling she never did get her peace with the issues of marriage, despite the sub-title of the book. And I found I didn't feel much sympathy with her situation after a bit. She came across as spoiled and very willful. That being said, I did find a lot in the book to like, but it is very different than EPL.

Interesting - I'm not hankering to read this one, but if it's available at the library for a $1, I will probably pick it up. Thanks for the info.

I think that's the next ebook I'm going to read for free at B&N. I'm in the mood for a good mystery.

Lynn, I really enjoyed Consider This, Senora by Harriet Doerr , and I also really liked Stones for Ibarra by Harriet Doerr , also by Harriet Doerr -- if you haven't read that one also, I highly recommend it.

Laurie (laurielh) | 93 comments I have just begun A Cup of Friendship by Deborah Rodriguez today and though I'm only 80 pages into it, I really like the smooth prose and interesting characters.

I did read Stones for Ibarra by Harriet Doerr , and it's actually what made me interested in reading Consider This, Senora by Harriet Doerr , which I am enjoying. Have you read any of her other books you can recommend? I'm planning to read some more of her writing.

I would think it could be a boring book in audio. It will be interesting to see your review at the end. It had sections with lots of facts rather than story and I find those much easier to read in book form.

I'll keep you posted. So far it is only slightly dull; however, I'm hoping that it picks up soon. I really didn't want to know the history of marriage but there it was.... ha ha

I heard the review on NPR (podcast), immediately downloaded a sample to my iPad. Sat in the car reading and almost missed an appointment!!! I'm only a few pages in but so far, it is riveting.
