I think maybe it wll help if you don't worry about how many you are reading/or have read and you will find it easier to read without the pressure.

Some months will be slow and others faster

But the most important part is to have fun!!!!

Re-reads count, if you read from cover to cover. :)

Afsana, I LOVED A is for Alibi, and I can't wait to continue with the series. I'm going to read them all in order. Have you read A through G, or is this the first one you have read in the series? How'd you like it?

message 211: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo Finished my 3rd book today. And bad girl that I am I went to Borders.

I have read all of them apart from e

a couple out of order.

To be honest they are not really my type of book but I bought a few of them on the cheap and so feel I have to read them before giving them away

message 213: by Catherine (new)

Catherine I have read all the Sue Grafton books except T and U. I love them. I'm really attached to the characters.

message 214: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo I think I'm only up to J. Have to get caught up one of these days. I know I have at least two of the next books. Maybe if I get them done before summer I can pick up the next few at the ubs at the shore.

message 215: by Catherine (new)

Catherine I received T as a Christmas gift when it came out, I think it was 2 years ago, and it's just sitting in my TBR pile, and now U is too. I'm going to try to read both in January, just not sure I'll be able to accomplish that with all the library books I just got!

message 216: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) Well I have finished with The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane by Katherine Howe and for those that were wondering about it, I would definitely read it. Although I have to say that had I "read" it I don't know that I would have continued with the book as it was a little slow to start, if I had the boo, I listened to it on audio cd, it was towards the end of the 2nd cd b(out of 11) before I was sucked in. What I liked was that the book was about this book through time, starting in the late 1600's up to 1991. I figured out a lot of what was going to happen and the way the story was going, but it didn't detract from the story.

message 217: by Catherine (last edited Jan 05, 2010 12:24PM) (new)

Catherine I love books set in the past, so I'm sure I'll like it. It's another one to try to read in January, but more likely it will be a February book. Thanks for the advice, Darcy!

message 218: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo I think Grafton is a usually a fast read. I know or at least I think I do where the book is so I might pull it out because I'm in the mood for one of her books I think next.

message 219: by Catherine (new)

Catherine They're fast for me too.

message 220: by Kelly (new)

Kelly A is for Alibi went sort of slow for me, but maybe that's because it was the first one and I was being introduced to Kinsey for the first time. Also, there were a ton of characters that were hard to keep straight! It'll be interesting to see how everything progresses throughout the series.

message 221: by Rachel (last edited Jan 05, 2010 04:15PM) (new)

Rachel How do y'all plan on listing your reads? Do you plan to give each new book a new post on your thread? Or do you plan to just consolidate them in one post and keep re-editing one comment each month?

I'm thinking of doing the latter...but I'm not sure if that means my thread will ALWAYS be at the bottom since the thread technically won't be timestamped as "updated" often.

message 222: by Holly (new)

Holly (velvetsun) | 7 comments Holy cow. I'm not sure how some of you ladies do it. I am almost finished with my 2nd book of 2010, and I thought I was doing well. LOL

message 223: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) I am just editing mine. I figured that would be the easiest for me.

message 224: by Kelly (new)

Kelly I'm just editing mine as well. I copied Crystal's, lol... she always organizes everything so nicely. :) I went ahead and made a post for every month that I will edit and add to as I read each book, and then I put one at the bottom called "2010 - Year in Review" so that I'll have that space to post my totals at the end of the year.

message 225: by Kelly (new)

Kelly I just started reading my 2nd and 3rd of the year today.

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 93 comments Rachel wrote: "How do y'all plan on listing your reads? Do you plan to give each new book a new post on your thread? Or do you plan to just consolidate them in one post and keep re-editing one comment each mont..."

I'm also just editing my January list as I finish a book, but am also writing a comment/review of the book in a new post. When I start a new month, I'll probably delete those comments to make room for the next month.

message 227: by Mackenzie (last edited Jan 05, 2010 05:07PM) (new)

Mackenzie RM (mackenzierm) | 87 comments You guys seem to be doing well. :) I'm on my 6th book of the year so far, Mapping the Edge: A Novel. Like Kelly, I copied Crystal's list too. It seems like a good way to organize. :)

message 228: by Jennifer C (new)

Jennifer C I am also editing each month's post with the books I read. I figure all the book posts are together and then any other chatting we do can then be at the top and no one has to weed through it all to find the books I read. Does that make sense? lol my explanation seems a little confusing.....

message 229: by Mackenzie (new)

Mackenzie RM (mackenzierm) | 87 comments It does make sense Jennifer, but I think you mean that all the chatting and stuff would be at the bottom.. as new posts are automatically placed at the bottom.. other than that it's fine :)

message 230: by Jennifer C (new)

Jennifer C Right. :) at the bottom

I actually sort mine so new comments are on top so I don't have to scroll through all the pages. You do that by clicking on date on the top right side of postings. It makes catching up with the posts much faster.

message 231: by Mackenzie (new)

Mackenzie RM (mackenzierm) | 87 comments Ohh.. you can DO that?! :O that's BRILLIANT! why did i not know this until now? lol. thanks for that :P

message 232: by Mackenzie (new)

Mackenzie RM (mackenzierm) | 87 comments Ohhh. wait, wait.. I knew that already. LOL, darnit. I was soo excited for a second.

message 233: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly Mine is going wonderfully. I'm already done one and about a third of the way through another.

message 234: by Mackenzie (new)

Mackenzie RM (mackenzierm) | 87 comments That's really good, Kimberly. :) What did you read for your first book?

message 235: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Kelly R wrote: "I'm just editing mine as well. I copied Crystal's, lol... she always organizes everything so nicely. :) I went ahead and made a post for every month that I will edit and add to as I read each boo..."

Glad I'm not the only one then! I prefer the editing option - much cleaner & more organized. And I do love my organization.

What will you put in the Year in Review post, Kelly?

message 236: by Kelly (new)

Kelly I love being organized too Rachel. Crystal has some mad organizing skills with the groups she runs, and I love watching how she does things, lol. Like you said, it just makes everything feel much cleaner!

I'm not sure yet what I'll put in my Year in Review post, other than the total number of books I completed. Maybe I'll add some other stats to it, like how many of what I read were library books and how many were my own, as I am keeping track of that on my livejournal blog. Also maybe just a little something about how my reading habits changed throughout the year, that kind of thing.

message 237: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) | 394 comments I go in and post each of mine as they go in. But I have a Word program, where I add the new book at the bottom of the list (its also numbered) and then I copy that into the post. If its a book that I really enjoyed or think that anyone else might like, I'll post a review here to this thread.

message 238: by Kim (new)

Kim I've just finished The girl who kicked the Hornets nest by Sieg Larsson and although it took quite a long time I really loved it. I think my next book from the library will be quite a quick read. Dh has started to moan about the book mountain- so think I might have to leave the library for a while and try to fit my books back on the bookshelves to keep him happy!

message 239: by Kinga (last edited Jan 06, 2010 01:24AM) (new)

Kinga I appreciate that editing posts make them look clean and organised but then they won't show up in my email updates so I will miss a lot. Coming to check each list would be too time consuming and would leave me no time to read my 144. :)

message 240: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Kelly R wrote: "I love being organized too Rachel. Crystal has some mad organizing skills with the groups she runs, and I love watching how she does things, lol. Like you said, it just makes everything feel much..."

Oooo, I might copy that idea too! I'm rather partial to statistics. You could track how many pages total read, different genres....I like this idea :)

message 241: by Afsana (new)

Afsana (afsanaz) My format is I will be posting each book

It will look like the following

Book No:
Title
Date Started
Date Ended

Pages

Review

message 242: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo I don't keep track of when I start a book. So far I've only done title, author, Rating (1 to 10) and amt of pages. I do it the next time I get online after finishing a book. I got behind on doing my book journal 2009 and I find if I don't do that right away then it's harder to remember if I had a special comment to make about the book. So this year I have to do my written journal right away or at least if I'm not home then write the info down so I remember to move it to the journal when I do get home. I haven't written comments or anything on my thread here but if I should do that if most people do it then just let me know I'll have come up with something for future books.

Darcy,

I just finished listening to The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane as well. I loved it. It's obvious the author did a lot of research and I liked the blending of fact and fiction. That brings me up to 4 books. I'm on 5, 6, and 7. The audio I'm listening to now is Firestorm by Iris Johansen. I'm not quite sure whether I'll finish it; not sure about the reader, but then it's too early to tell.

message 248: by Kelly (new)

Kelly I've now completed 2 books and reading my 3rd. I find myself spending hours upon hours on goodreads, and very little time actually reading lol! I want to change this, b/c I REALLY want to accomplish the 144 goal this year. I was trying to find room on my shelves earlier for all my books, and I just kept thinking, "man, I want to read this one asap, and this one, and this one." So many great books waiting to be read!

message 249: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) Vanessa I am glad that you liked the book. I too liked the blending of fact and fiction.

Kelly,

I feel the same way sometimes. I sometimes wonder if I should be stopping some books that are taking a while.
The Gargoyle is going a lot slower than I had hoped, but it's my pen pal read and I need to finish it. It is an interesting book and the writer is very good. I just wish we could get to the really good part I feel is still coming. I can alternate with the Harlan Coben and that audio books, but I feel some pressure to finish this one.
