Why thank you so much Julie! I've been shocking myself the past week or two and have now devoured several more books in what amounts to a land speed record for me. I'm taking a tiny reading obsession break today to catch up on some Facebook games and journaling, but intend to be fully back into my obsessive reading swing later tonight or tomorrow. It's amazing how much reading one can sneak in during the day when doing other things!

Best of luck with your reading as well. I see the post above you mentioned branching out of your comfort zone. That's another reason I love challenges like this - I stalk what everyone else reads and raves about and find some great new books/authors ;)

I agree!! I carry a book in my purse so that I can read while I wait for my take-out or during any times that I would have in the past be irritated about having to wait for something. Now, it is fun to see how much I can read during time that would otherwise have been "wasted!"

As for stalking the pages for good reads!!! I totally do that as well!!

I noticed that your profile said that you like books that are compiled of diary/journal entries. I love books like that!! I recently finished The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society which was completely created out of letters. Do you have any good recommendations for that style of book??

I'm just sticking my two cents in here, but there is a book called 84 Charing Cross Road, which is a series of letters between a New York writer and a London bookshop owner. I can't remember the author, but they made it into a movie with Anne Bancroft and Anthony Hopkins.

Her names is Helene Hanff. This is one of the books that I have read many times and I watch the movie at least once a year.

I'm hoping to finish the Patterson book Trial today then back to my own books again. Which I have maybe 3 or 4 books started. One I put on my bookshelve here that I reading but really I did it before starting so I really should put it back on the to be read shelve so my shelve doesn't look so bad. It's snowing again here (are we having a fun winter yet ugh) I want spring or at least a winter without snow. The snow that is piled at the end of our area will probably be there until summer it's so high and they are out there now plowing with a little bobcat and I don't know how they are piling it now. Oh well time to go watch out the window.

I have a question - Does anyone know how to put your ratings next to the books you've read like with little hearts? I was told to hold the control key down and then push the number 3 for hearts but it is not working on my key board. I have a regular keyboard by Dell that has a 10 key pad with Num Lock and my Num Lock is on.

I have only read 3 books so far this month so I am feeling like a slacker, especially after feeling so good about reaching the goal of 12 for January. BUT, my new nephew was born on Friday so that is sooooo much better than a book. Now that he is here and home and things are settling down, I am hoping to get caught up on my reading. Now I just need to have my mom stop making plans for me.... lol.

(PS - I am 34 years old, way too old for my mom to be telling me my activities for the weekend.... of course her answer would be, you are never too old for that) :)

Babies are so much fun, especially when they are related to you! I have four nieces and two second cousins that are girls. No little boys in our family, but the girls are super fun too!

Babies are fun and so sweet and can totally cheer you up when you have a bad day. I love kids. Hopefully one day I will have some of my own, but for now, I just borrow everyone else's. lol

Another good one is Last Days of Summer by Steve Kluger. It's letters and notes between a young boy and a baseball player, but more than anything it's about the relationship that grows between the two. Wonderful book.

I don't have any and I always thought I would, but I'm so close to 40 at this point and zero romantic prospects! I can always adopt if I want to. Right now I'm fine with being single and childless. I borrow other people's kids too, a lot! It's great because you can give them back when they start screaming!!

I have zero romantic prospects too. It was hard being at the hospital when we were waiting for him to be born, seeing all the families and new babies and stuff, but then he came along and I fell in love. :D All those other thoughts flew right out the window.

lol Jennifer--my Dad was 73 when he died--and my Grandmother was STILL trying to set up his weekends for him. :o) Of course, Grandmama thought she should be able to do that for ALL of us, including her great-great-grandkids. Most of her plans for the weekend tho involved us grown-ups bringing the kids around to see her, so that she could spoil them all.

She especially bugged me about my oldest grandson. He was born on her 95th birthday, and she always insisted, up til her death (at 102) that he "belonged" to her, since he was clearly a birtday present. HE enjoyed being able to tell all his friends that he had to call his Great-great-grandmother on "their" birthday to tell her happy birthday.

Now, on to book reviews.

I finished book 59 last night. Four & Twenty Blackbirds ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ by Mercedes Lackey. It was book 4 in her "Bardic Voices series. However--tiny little spoiler here, for anyone who wants to read this series, it doesn't really seem to fit the series, except that the characters in it had all appeared in previous books in the series. But it was still a good read.

I was married at 18 and had 5 childen: three boys and two girls. Way too young to be married. I admire you women for having a life before children. But now I have 21 grandchildren (and one on the way). and I still have energy to play with them (except when we all get together)! There is time for all seasons of our lives. I don't need to bother other's children but it is VERY nice to give them back to my children when I need a rest!

Over the long weekend (Family Day is a stat holiday in Ontario, Canada), I started and finished Open Season by Linda Howard and today I finished Honeymoon by James Patterson. I'm currently on page 53 of Destined for an Early Grave by Jeaniene Frost (Night Huntress, #4). I so can't get enough of this series!!! If you like paranormal, this series is a must read!

We have a new baby in the family too. My niece had a little girl yesterday. So now we have two to spoil because she's got a 3 yr old brother. But I forgot to bring her present today (books of course) so she will get them when I go to her house. Her brother has alot of books I bought him so he has to share them. But now I can buy books that have to do with girls too.

I had my first child at 19 and now have 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren. I raised one of my grandsons for 2 years. I love him to death, but let me tell you I was so happy when the courts let him go back home. If I had to do it again I would in a heartbeat though.

Jennifer, I wanted to make sure he enjoyed books so bought him alot up to now and then was giving money that went to a fund for a bookcase (which my niece picked out and bought and it wasn't a good one so don't even know if they use it anymore it didn't have a back except for heavy cardboard not a good idea) and also a reading chair. Which now he calls the thinking chair. I asked if we were going to do it for his sister now and my niece said we probably will only need a new cover with her name on but will use the same chair. I said supposed he still wants it and she said by the time she will want it he will be too big for it.

Finished Destined for an Early Grave (Night Huntress, #4) and First Drop of Crimson (Night Huntress World, #1), both by Jeaniene Frost. She is an incredible author. The way she writes, you could swear she's been doing so for decades. And I can't say it enough ~ if you are a paranormal fan, the series is a must-read!

So far compared to last years totals. I up to 10 books for the month this year so far and last year I only did 6 in Feb. up to this date. And for the year so far I'm already at 27 and last year on this date I only finished 16. So I'm doing better this year already.
I need another two books to get 12 in for the month but going by the date I'll probably have more than that depending on the books I pick.
