Glad to have you joining us, Heather! :) You can post a list here if you want to, or you can just post your points for each individual task as you read -- it's entirely up to you. I think a lot of us like to post lists and then edit them to cross off books as we go along (there's no separate thread for it). If you take a look at the current challenge thread (the Fall/Winter one) that will give you some idea of how we've been doing it.
It's hard to believe January 1 is only a couple weeks away! I'm scrambling to finish my last few December books...I have a bunch on request at the library, so I think I'm going to be slammed with them all at once in January...

That's what I try to do. The last challenege, I tried to use only books that were on wishlists on PBS to give myself an extra incentive to finish as many as possible. Unfortunately it didn't work. I got a little burned out I guess. :(
I don't know how many I'm going to be able to finish during the first six weeks of the new challenge - I'm going to be taking two classes at the same time. After that, it's on! :)
That's what I try to do. The last challenege, I tried to use only books that were on wishlists on PBS to give myself an extra incentive to finish as many as possible. Unfortunately it didn't work. I got a little burned out I guess. :(

Don't worry Alicia, you're in the company of another geek...me! :)
Good luck getting through your stack, I'm so glad you're enjoying the challenges. I hope they are accomplishing my gaol of getting us all to get those books off of our shelves that have been there for a while.

Ha, I keep doing the same thing with the library! I put certain books on request at the library because the lines for them are long, but then they all end up coming off of request at the same time -- so I end up reading 10 library books in a row and not making a dent in my own stack. At least between the library and Inter-Library Loan I've significantly cut down on the amount of books I've acquired in the last several months so I'm not really adding to my stack...but it's not going down any either! Maybe when I finish this latest library batch...

One thing that I've figured out to help cut down on my stack(s!) is by requesting the audiobook from the library. I get the audiobook and listen to it or upload it to iTunes, then I can post the actual book on PBS and BM! :)

10.1 The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister. I ran across this one on one of the food fiction lists here on GR. I absolutely LOVED this book...it's one I'll read again one day. Highly recommended for any other foodies, or for those of you who like Sarah Addison Allen.
She is also a Goodreads author, which is a 5 pt bonus; this is also a library book for another 5 pts

This is a really good book. Towards the end it's sad but there is a happy ending. There is a movie coming out in the Spring with Miley Cyrus and I can't wait to see it.

1. The challenge runs from January 1 - March 31, 2010
2. Anyone may join in at any time, and count any books read between January 1 and March 31.
3. Books do not have to be specifically from Red Dress Ink or specifically chick lit.
4. Each book may only count for ONE task, but you may complete tasks as many times as you’d like for points. You must complete all parts of a task each time in order to claim points for it (i.e. – If you want to complete a 25-point task twice, you must read 3 books for that task EACH time in order to get the points)
5. Bonus Points: Bonus points will be awarded as follows. In order to claim your bonus points, you must tell us which points you are claiming when you post, or they won’t be counted:
- GR Bonus: 5 Points for any book written by a Goodreads author
- Series Bonus: 5 Points for any subsequent books in a series read during the challenge (Example – You read Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum books 3-5 for various tasks. You can claim 5 extra points each for books 4 and 5.)
- Save A Tree Bonus: 5 Points for any library book
- Length Bonus : 10 Points for any book that’s over 500 pages
- Group Read Bonus: 10 Points for any past or present Red Dress Ink Fans group read (see the group bookshelf for the complete list)
- Category Bonus: 20 Points for completing all the tasks in a point category (i.e. If you complete all the 10 point tasks, you get an extra 20 points)
5. To post points: Post the point value and number of the task you completed, as well as the book you read for the task.
6. For multiple-book tasks: Unless specified in the task, books do NOT need to be read back-to-back, or in any specific order, BUT you must have read ALL the books for a task in order to be awarded points for it (no "half points").
7. Audiobooks and e-books are acceptable to use for challenges, as long as they are the complete and unabridged versions.
8. Books started before January 1 may count for any task in the challenge, as long as you are no more than halfway through the book as of January 1.
9. You may change the books on your list at any time. You only need to let me know about the change if you are changing books for a task for which you have already claimed points.
10. Re-reads of books are okay, unless the task specifically says otherwise.
11. The person with the most points at the end of the challenge is the winner. Remember, you do NOT necessarily have to complete every single task in order to be the winner – you just have to have the most points.
12. Prizes for the top 3 finishers:
First Place – A $10 Amazon.com gift certificate
Second Place – Two credits from either BookMooch or Paperbackswap.com (your choice)
Third Place – A book
