Joanie | 66 comments My brother-in-law's mother was talking about this book that her mother read (so it's an old book) and I said I would come here and see if it rings a bell.

A woman is a doctor and she dives in her pool and comes up in a swimming hole somewhere in the past. At one point she delivers a baby by C-section and everyone thinks she's a witch. Sound familiar to anyone? Thanks!

Heron | 52 comments Sounds like Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series - which is about a doctor who travels back to 16th-17th century Scotland, where she falls in love and marries a Scottish clansman. Lots of sex and baby deliveries. It's a series, and in the...first or third...book she is thought to be a witch and imprisoned.

julie (maguire708) | 8 comments The pool thing totally doesn't fit with Gabaldon. Any clue when she read it? I was just thinking that my grandmother read constantly until her death which was just last year so I guess it would be most helpful to find out when your brother in law's grandmother might have read it.

Joanie | 66 comments I don't know when it would have been. She just told me it may have been a Harlequin or Silohette (why can't I seem to spell either of those words!) because her mother read a lot of those. Thanks all!

Angel (mnemosyne) | 25 comments This is a real long shot, but maybe "An Acceptable Time" by Madeline L'Engle? It's been about 16 years since I've read it, but I do recall that she time travels via a swimming pool.

There's a wikipedia page that gives tons of details on it:

Wendy | 52 comments It's definitely not that--there's no sex and it's in New England, and the protagonist is a teenage girl.

PastAllReason | 2 comments I think the book you are looking for is Return to Yesterday by June Lund Shiplett. Here is the link to the book http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/62.... There is a lengthy review by Misfit that has a long description that matches pretty closely. I remember reading this book eons ago.

Pamd96x | 3 comments I've read this book and I don't remember the name either. It is definitely not the one by Diana Gabaldon. In that one she falls through time at a grouping of stones like Stonehenge.

April Ann (bloomer) | 515 comments Somewhere In Time by Barbara Bretton Somewhere In Time by Barbara Bretton, Harlequin 1992.

Summary:
In search of a man who could inflame her senses and touch her soul, Emilie Crosse travels back in time to a nation struggling to be born to find such a man.

Highland Fling (Harlequin Blaze #262) by Jennifer LaBrecque Highland Fling by Jennifer LaBrecque, Harlequin 2006

Dr. Kate Wexford can't believe she fell in love with a portrait of a man from centuries past. What's even more unbelievable is how she winds up in bed with that same man. Darach MacTavish doesn't usually allow women in any part of his life, protecting his clan takes all of his time and energy. Kate is different and, if she is to be believed, she's from the future and he and his clan will perish soon. To keep this from happening they must return to Kate's time for the answers in preventing his death. Knowing their time is limited, Kate intends to make as many memories as possible to keep her once Darach returns to his time. An utterly charming and sexy read whose characters you'll fall in love with. Each book in this series is a true delight and well worth keeping for more reading pleasure. -- Darlene Kendall (Reviewed 06-01-2006)

Joanie | 66 comments I'll have to ask her if any of these fit. I don't think it's Somewhere it Time or Highland Fling since she read them some time back.

April Ann (bloomer) | 515 comments When did she read them?

Joanie | 66 comments I checked in with my brother-in-law's mother and she is going to check out Journey to Yesterday by June Lund Shiplett. Based on the review written here I'd say that's the one. I think we can mark this one as solved!!!
